this bill was introduced on March 5 by these fine legislators:
Sen. Charles Grassley [R-IA]
Sen. Richard Durbin [D-IL]
Sen. John McCain [R-AZ]
One can only wonder who is behind all of this ?

If this passes…goodbye pherlure!
seems like a stealth move by certain, ummmmm, commercial interests to further lock down the supplement market…
If you want greater clarification, you could ask the real legislative assistant who is working on this:
her name is Kathy Nuebel and her e-mail is
Kathy_Nuebel@grassley.senate.gov
I called Grassley’s office and they had no idea why this bill was being introduced, nor could they cite any research that inspired it…
Maybe Kathy could explain the reasoning ?
lol, dhea, a steroid? wtf…
yeah… strange indeed… Ms. Nuebel has declined to answer the simple question I posed, what research supports Senator Grassley’s reasoning, and why is this suddenly of urgent concern ?
The good Senator’s office “doesn’t know” and Ms. Nuebel isn’t talking…
Let’s guess what might be going on here ![]()
The same thing when they passed the “Prescription assistance act” for the retired people in the middle of the night? ![]()
Oh this is grand…
I found this on the FEF website… another intrepid seeker tries to get to the bottom of the DHEA banning…
"I just called Grassleys “Drug Caucus” office at 202-224-9032 to ask if they had a position paper to back their nonsensical position that DHEA is allegedly “dangerous”. The phone was handed to Jeremy Mishler the officious twerp in charge of this genocidal bill.
Mishler’s direct line is 202-224-3744. Call him yourself to tell him off- see phone script below…
I asked him if they had a detailed position paper on DHEA which would attempt to justify their position. He said they do not.
He said that professional sports and the Olympics have banned it, “therefor it should be banned.”
He called DHEA a “potent anabolic steroid which is being abused by bodybuilders who are using it instead of harder to obtain illegal steroids.”
He also said the public is being “defrauded” when they take it for antiaging purposes.
He then got very testy with me and demanded to know who I was and what state I was calling from, (telling me he knows I’m in Washington State.) I told him it didn’t matter what state I am calling from because I interract with dietary supplement consumers in all 50 states who use DHEA including IOWA, and that he could expect to hear from a few million enraged dietary supplement consumers who were likely to make his phone ring off the hook til Grassley cries uncle and raises the white flag on this issue, scrapping this absurd bill. I wanted to know when Grassley was going to ban cholesterol since it too is a steroid. No answer, so I hung up."
Sooo… WHO is Jeremy Mishler
and how does one Jeremy Mishler get this kind of power to influence legislation, yet nobody seems to have ever heard of him ?
if this is the case why is he not targeting all those other pro-hormones out there that people really do use instead of steroids?
i just hate when people think they need to legislate the hell out of me, so that “i don’t hurt myself”.
Pro-hormones are illegal, although I’m still unsure what they allegedly are, if you could clarify it to me in short. I think his reasoning is bullshit at best as I’ve yet to hear of a bodybuilder who abuses DHEA. It definately isn’t an anabolic steroid. lol. wtf…
yeah the older generation pro-hormones are banned 1-AD specifically. But there’s a new generation called 4-AD that is popping up. Not that I have a problem specifically with people using prohormones. I thinkt heya re a waste of money, but, much like ephedra, i don’t see the point of banning it.
As for what prohormones are, they are testosterone pre-cursors, and an oxygen molecule short, or bound at a different place, etc. etc. Give the right envrionment, they would become testosterone.
form what I saw of the old “illegal” ones, they seemed to give allt he side effects of Steroid abuse, but very few of the muscle-gaining benefits.
