Should Androtics Restrict Advanced Pheromones to New Users?

I feel that if there were restrictions placed on who could purchase certain pheromones, there would be a lot more feedback. Maybe something like, only reporting users can purchase advanced pheromones (putatives, MXs) for the first 3 days they become available? That way there would be more assurance that information actually gets reported on, instead of used and discarded without ever hearing a single word about it.

I have a feeling that when the new/old stuff get restocked there is going to be a rush to buy them all up, with more than half being purchased by new users that are buying them only based on a couple threads they’ve recently read about the phero having big hits. I’m not trying to discriminate against anyone, and I know some people may think this concept is unfair, but it’s an idea that I think would benefit the phero community in the long-run.

I most certaintly agree. About a year ago when this place was churning out products left and right it wasn’t much of a deal about newer users buying advanced products.

But now? With so much uncertainty about when products will be restocked (if ever :frowning:) I think Androtics should look into ways on insuring that some of the highly advanced stuff be kept out of the hands of those who haven’t reached reporting user status.

Good call, scotties.

We screen all incoming advanced section orders and kindly refund people who are just “too green”, or have never left feedback for us publicly before, or try to order 5 of the same MX (limit one per customer really means something here!).

We’re going to be super judicious about who will get the first wave of restocked products, so we can ensure they’re going to great reporters only, and lots of data gets back here on PheroTalk.

To make sure you’re on our A-list of reporters, who get preferential treatment and preferential access to new stuff, the best thing to do right now while we’re behind the scenes beefing up our stock is…

Report!!

A lot!

On all the stuff you can possibly test and report on!

Beef up your reporting and we’ll beef up our stock.

We have SO many great things to ship to you guys right now, and we’re REALLY excited about all the new pheromagical possibilities around the bend.

Best thing to do to encourage more feedback is give a really good example of leaving great feedback. The more posts we collectively make, the more reporting users out there will feel comfortable leaving their feedback.

I definitely agree with this. Its really annoying having to check every half hour whether somethings finally in stock knowing that it’l sell out within an hour. And jas, please set the limit for single mx’s to 2 per reporting user. Iv found that by the time i get a grip on something new, the bottle’s almost finished. 2 small bottles would mean that A) the reports on our second bottle would be super, and B) we wouldn’t “save up the rest of this fabulous mix for special occasions”

P.S: Just the results of this poll will show the ratio of reporting to non-reporting users on the site now. Watch the no’s pile up :stuck_out_tongue:

I totally agree like I said before

I’m tired of seeing people with like 10 posts saying “whoo I just my hands on P83 or MX 297!” When it is obvious that most of them will not report back which is the whole point of why we have an advanced section in the first place.

Thanks Jasmin. Again, to anyone that said no, I’m not trying to keep any of you from enjoying the good stuff, it’s just that this is a pheromone RESEARCH forum and research requires reporting. I have no problem missing out on something I wanted if it means I get to read about it and learn some more before getting a chance to use it myself.

I concur, there’s a lot of new guys that come and go who have purchased all the hyped up MXs, latest Ps, or whatever is popularly posted on the forum but then they go and never leave a report. Or if they do, it’s just once or twice then we never hear from them again or see them posting on the board. Same goes for users buying more than one MX, and yes I’ve been guilty of this too but now I know better. Buying more than one MX should be the best way to go just to be fair with everyone else, or a limit of two MXs if there’s plenty of stock for that particular MX for example.

A reward system for users who review comes to mind too, now I know that Androtics is AWESOME at rewarding us so I’m definitely not trying to say that Androtics doesn’t reward us or what have you. All I’m saying is that rewarding a review with in store points/credit would definitely amp up report postings. For example 500 points for a review or whatever amount.

I voted NO and here’s why (which is prefaced that this is MY PERSONAL OPINION  )

I believe everyone should be allowed the same opportunity and given that right to prove themselves whether they are worthy reporters. When we “group” people into pretty little pictures we are pushing away potential greatness and before you know it we lost a Tacitus or PheroQuirk before they even got started. I think everyone should be afforded the opportunity to buy something in the store.

Not to mention, and I’m sticking my neck out here, the complexity of reviewing orders and deciding who gets what. Why not come along and say only Tier 4 gets first choice and then 3, 2 and 1. If all those are exhausted then noobs? How many would NOT get to test? Also the logistical nightmare I can see this causing. While I completely understand what you are suggesting, what you are doing is putting the decision in an individuals hands. That individual is me and I’m only human.

While reviewing each order, spending time deciding who gets what, all those magnificent reports on the forum go unread. All those new potential reporting users get skipped because rather spending time reading their reports I’m acting like God deciding who gets what mix. Sorry in my view it won’t work right.

If Androtics wants to limit customer participation in store purchases IMHO they will isolate and thus lose customers. I know that is not at all how Jassylicious is. Every day I have to turn down 5 people who are super excited about the A314 special additions. Nothing like killing someones enthusiasm to test and report like saying no you cant have it. Only “special” people can have it.

I just believe, while your intentions are obviously good, there needs to be another solution. Something that involves everyone equally. :stuck_out_tongue:

Crap, that makes sense too (what Steve said.) How will new users prove themselves and thus continue to reach great reporting status as those who’ve been here the longest like Dancing Joker, Warren, PheroQuirk, and Tacitus (among many other greats.)

I completely understand where you’re coming from Steve, and I considered that aspect as well. I’m not trying to suggest that only a privelaged few should be allowed to purchase, only that maybe there could be some kind of time frame perhaps where for the first couple days of an advanced mone being in stock, only the reporting users can purchase it. I just think that many new guys are buying stuff up that they wouldn’t even understand the proper use of, with no reports to better the community. I’m sure I’ve contributed to some of this myself because of my reports, but it’s hard to pass on pXX when you read something like “pXX got me laid”, even if you don’t have the slightest clue about pXX.

I hope I didn’t upset anyone with this thread, I was just posting a suggestion.

Dude, that’s an even better idea! Ah, I wish this would happen sooner than later! Fortunately good things come to those who wait.

Oh, and I’m very guilty of breaking rule 1. Well, actually it’s my wife but she hods me as the “tray fill up guy” and well, I forget sometimes.

I vote no.

The above solution is the only one that makes business sense and is fair to all the users. Make enough and keep it in stock.

Its impossible and unrealistic to expect Steve to go through all the orders everyday and pick and choose who can have things and who cant. Even in the first few days of release. Its also a good way to lose customers and discourage people.

I also think that the leaving of products in the advanced testing phase for years and years after they have already been reported over and over is crazy. There is a fine line between being a perfectionist and being anal. You have people lining up buying the same advanced over and over it time to move them up to consumer even if the price go’s up and this will give you enough cash flow to keep other testing products in stock for the advanced.

Products like CTTM MX135 MX134 I am sure the men can name a few as well.

The only other way to solve this problem is to password protect the advanced section and spilt the forum in half with a password protected area for reporting on the advanced mixes.

Of course then you would never really get to see the potential of a new users ability to test and report on products either.

Bottom line even though this is a research forum and the advanced section is for experienced users neither the store or the forum is set up this way. I think restricting users is like having someone stand in front of Macys to turn all the shoppers away who have no fashion sense. Its discriminating no matter how you look at it.

Tisha

Easily solved…reporting users get to pre-order stock. Say a certain user wants to try the P83/P86 combo out. He preorders with you guys. When the stock is replenished his order is set aside and he is given a special link in his “product available” email to a special page like the one set up for the A314 special editions.

This way there is no sitting on stock for god knows how long until everyone feels the regulars have had a fair shot.
The purchase was already agreed on and factored into account during production.
You don’t have to weed through orders to determine who’s worthy. You can have a set criteria of a combination of both length of membership and post count minimums when the request is made.
Sorry Joe, you need to be a reporting user for at least 60 days with X number of posts before you can preorder the product. (he can still buy the main batch) but he just won’t have a special order set aside to guarantee availability.

Frankly even though I ordered MX297 I don’t even feel that as an admin I’d qualify myself for preorders on putatives or mx’s. I have a lot of posts but I’ve only been here about three months and have yet to give an honest try to all the consumer line.
I’ll likely be ordering togo’s of everything and working through the list one at a time. Only then would I consider myself experienced enough to be of any value in reporting on experimental products.

Have to agree with you SteveO 100%. I for one took me some time to actually “get” the hits that I was getting from wearing A314. Did not report on it because I wanted to see results on a long term basis, rather than just jump the gun and write about it without actually seeing repeated results. I guess I felt that since I have read so many posts from other users of A314, I felt I would be predisposing the results of A314.

Much like conducting a double blind science experiement, whereas you want to prevent research outcomes from being influenced by either the placebo effect or the observer bias. Blinded research is an important tool in many fields of research, from medicine, to psychology and the social sciences, to forensics, as well as Phero testing…

Steve, you’re just too good of a hype man. People see your reports and they think “Damn, got to have it. Gotta have it right now”

I think part of the issue boils down to intense anticipation for the release of a few long hyped projects.

The other part of the problem is the worry that some of these new releases may only get a limited release, never to show up again. MX329 comes to mind on this one. Simply a great mix that I don’t think got into enough people’s hands. There’s only 7 threads on it. How many bottles where made? Probably more than 7, but were there even as much as 50?

Now MX292 on the other hand had a really healthy stock period, and there are 7 pages of threads on it. Hell, I’ve still got a few bottles I’m saving for myself (Still one of the best overall mixes I’ve used.)

So my point boils down to, yeah, people are getting nervous about missing out on the next big thing.
If there’s enough of it to go around, it really doesn’t matter because everyone will eventually get their chance with the new “What’s What.”
The anticipation is becoming palpable. (:

See what SHORTAGE/LACK of mones has done!?

People losing sleep trying to come up with ideas of who should get and who shouldn’t.

All points here are cool, BUT if the problem is the suppliers … we (ANDROTICS, I can’t afford it) need to send over a couple of bag guys, see what the problem is, and if messing up their place, setting their cars on fire, and delivering a punch to the nose and couple of punches to the gut, will fix it.

I agree

Damn right! I was just being nice about it. But now that its out in the open: You Suck!:stuck_out_tongue:

Curses! I swear upon the head of the monkey my great grandmother took to the grave with her i shall have my revenge!

In the meantime, while you wait, may i suggest this excellent cake?
It comes with a unique filling, i am told by the baker, that goes by name ‘feces-GARGANTUSAURAS!’

I wonder why is it that when the product does eventually come out, it comes out in small quantities. I would think by now Androtics would produce each product at a level that would meet the demand of its customers. That’s exactly what any other type of business would do. If the case is lack of space, then Androtics should just get a bigger warehouse/manufacturing facility, and/or hire more personel to keep up with the demand.
