Smiley perfume

Has anyone tried the smiley anti-depressant perfume from happy therapy - smiley - le tout premier parfum anti dépresseur? Well the name says it all…more descriptions are on the website.

We maybe able to use it alongwith our pheromone mixes to give it a certain chemical boost. Don’t ya think?

I wanted to order a small bottle, but on checkout I learned that they don’t except Mastercard.

No PayPal either, so hence no order.

Let me know if you try it.

LOL

After doing some more reading I found out that the stuff they use in this perfume is just PEA! And I have 20gr of this!

So what I did was I added 100mg to 2 ml of perfume, added some Nol and sprayed it directly into my face.

Well, I’m smiling right now, but I can’t tell if it’s from this juice or because I thought how funny it is that I happened to have this stuff already!

You can buy PEA at some internet stores that sell bulkpowders, it’s only $1,00 per gram so if you want to experiment with it its real cheap.

For those who don’t know what it is, PEA stands for phenylethylamine, and it’s found in chocolate in very small dosis.

O, there’s also theobromine in that smiley perfume, and that I don’t have.

I am wondering if PEA and Theobromine would work well as a perfume (to diffuse and get into other people’s noses). Maybe that is the reason they promote it as a self-therapy!

From the reviews below, ‘Smiley’ perfume to does sound indeed interesting to try especially considering that it contains PEA, known as the ‘love chemical’ in chocolate.

I read a review on this perfume a few months back and was definitely intrigued by it’s claims and was dying to smell the perfume myself, but like many other products I have read about, I forget about them the next day. Funnily enough, I was browsing through a Sephora on the other side of town and saw a small, simple display of the stuff. I tested it straight away and my god, did I fall in love! It smells, to and on me, very different, fresh, warm, smooth, silky. I can’t really describe what it smells like because I am sure I have smelt nothing like it before. Posaibly fruity, with a hint of spice. It made e feel warm inside and..happy. I then fell even more deeply in love with this when I saw the price - 17 euros for the 30ml EDT! I was deeply dissapointed though, as I had no cash WHATSOEVER on me, and had to catch the train home. I somehow got it into my head that that was the ONLY Sephora in Madrid that had it, as I hadn’t seen the perfume on display in any other Sephora - I din’t think that maybe it had only been released! Anyway, I could still smell the perfume on myself that night and was still totally in love with it. I then checked out my local Sephora a few days later and to my surprise, they had a small Smiley display! I immediately purchased the 30ml EDT, and am still as impressed with it now as I was with it then. The packaging is ultra cute, bright and happy, and a portion of the profits go to charity, not to mention, is does make me, and anyone else I’ve made smell it…SMILE!

The first antidepressant perfume
Smiley perfume does what it promises: it makes you happy!
I discovered this perfume while browsing at the perfume store and I liked its distinctive packaging. The perfume boxes look like pill boxes, the perfume bottle is pill-shaped and the gift set is packaged like a first-aid kit.
I was curious at first when I sprayed it on, and after a few sniffs I realized it really worked! Instantly I was feeling giddy and happy. The salesperson told me about when there was a promotion of Smiley perfume and how they sprayed the perfume in the air and everybody in the store was in such a happy mood because of it.
Smiley is described as a psycho-tonic fragrance, the first antidepressant perfume. The formula contains natural mood elevators like theobromine and phenylethylamine, derived from pure cocoa extract. It’s a fruity yet spicy unisex smell. I’m not very good in describing scents, but I smell a soft citrus fruit and some of it reminds me of Le Feu d’Issey. The fragrance has top notes like bergamot and orange at the opening. Cocoa, praline and curaçao at the heart of the fragrance. The dry-down features patchouli, myrrh and musk.
I absolutely adore the concept, I like it even more that it works! The packaging design is very original, except you’ll have to lay it flat on its side, it can’t stand up straight. But it won’t roll away or anything.
The antidepressant claim is an exaggeration of the uplifting effects of the aromatherapeutic blend of this perfume. I don’t really buy into the mood elevating chemicals, but I do believe in the effects of aromatherapy. I get the same uplifting effects from essential mandarin oil, although I find this fragrance has a stronger effect and more wearable, ofcourse.
Smiley perfume is available as eau de toilette (normal dose), eau de parfum (strong dose), extrait de parfum (maximum dose) and there’s also a skincare/shower/bath range. The price is reasonable as well. I paid 30 euros for a 30ml eau de toilette.
Let me tell ya, I was looking for an uplifting, aromatherapeutic perfume and now I found it!. I highly recommend this for the ones that need an instant pick-me-up.

“35. It’s real. I discovered it during a trip to Paris. I was at Sephora, and I said to myself “this can’t possibly be true.” I’m from the U.S., so the fact that something was on sale and that these claims were made was unbelieveable. I tried it on and left the store. .. didn’t like the smell much … then, WOW! You might not want to spray this on your co-workers.

For me, it was euphoric. Absolutely amazing. I’ve been using it once or twice a day – after the first time the effect is a “little” less … probably because my brain knows it now. I’ll definitely buy more when I need it – I got the lotion and eau de toilette. I might have to go back to Paris for it if I can’t get it by mail. It is very uplifting, but the effect for me is really nothing like the antidepressants I know. It’s more like an herbal remedy – a little bit like verveine or valerian but better. It’s not an allopathic drug. I’ve been under incredible stress since I started using it (I got robbed leaving France.) and I’m still relatively calm.

“…The print on the bottle says “Psycho-tonic perfume [normal dose] with micro-nutrients to activate happiness.” That intrigued me. Who doesn’t like to be happy? So I spritzed away. I didn’t feel a wave of euphoria, but - I love the scent and can’t stop smelling my wrists. It’s zesty and warm at the same time, thanks to energizing top notes of bergamot and orange, a heart full of “delectable pleasures” of cocoa, praline and curaçao, and a relaxing base of patchouli, myrrh and musk. It is unisex, so everyone can get happy.

Aside from having aromatherapeutic notes, how does Smiley work as ‘happy therapy’? The makers claim that olfactory molecules theobromine (http://www.chm.bris.ac.uk/webprojects2001/millward/theobromine.htm) and phenylethylamine (http://www.chm.bris.ac.uk/webprojects2001/millward/phenylethylamine.htm), both found in chocolate, can have an antidepressant effect. I definitely find chocolate to be a mood-booster, so I can believe it. And having heard that the skin absorbs much of what is applied to it, why couldn’t these beneficial molecules be absorbed and scoot right up to the happy-center of the brain?..”

This is an interesting thread…
Well I googled for shops that sell PEA and found a few, but no shops in europe…

Some are selling a concentracted blue green algae, Aphanizomenon or Alphanazomenon flos-aquae (AFA)
Phenylethylamine - Vitamins & Nutrition - Compare Prices, Reviews and Buy at NexTag - Price - Review
AFA Superfoods from Upper Klamath Lake: Phycomin - PEA - Love Molecules
Another shop is selling pure PEA powder.
PEA from NutraPlanet - $1.00

I’m not sure whether one can import this in the EU though. Any ideas..
And if you find a shop in Europe please do post too..

boom!
I found a uk shop… selling what it calls blue manna.
Blue Manna UK, Blue Manna – Detox Your World Blue Manna

I wonder whether anyone has tried this..

Aww, that’s all? Just phenylethylamne? I saw a review of the Smiley line in this month’s Jane, and I was like, “hey!! Cool!!” But if it’s just PEA, then BFD.

There are a few places that sell bulk powder PEA. I think I get mine from BulkNutrition, but I have to double check. (I may be confusing that with the Chocamine i get from them…)

You are right - but what’s BFD?
Re theobromine you could ground cocoa beans..
Theobromine

Now I read that guarana contains theobromine. I did have a guarana intesa body wash and some deodorant…I didn’t know it was so good!

The same uk shop has a guarana powder with theobrimine too..

Guarana powder UK – Detox Your World Guarana powder

Haha.. “BFD” means Big F**kin’ Deal. :stuck_out_tongue::smiley:

oh… I wasn’t aware…!

You had to ask…:smiley::smiley::smiley:

I had to as I googled it and couldn’t find it..

Yes its just PEA and Theobromine apparently but from the reviews it seems that Smiley does work and makes people feel happy.

One of the reviews says: “…i have to say, it really does make a person feel like they are in love, you know when you first meet someone, you have that honeymoon period where you are totally in love, well that is how this perfume makes you feel…”

That is definitely an effect of PEA-maybe she got that feeling from the power of suggestion of course but the PEA in Smiley Pefume may indeed be ‘active’ nasally. I have read reviews of Chocamine powder (a purified supplemental form of Cocoa) and some users report an increase in ‘romantic’ feelings after supplementing with it. I myself noticed this effect when experimenting with large amounts of Cocoa-I am not the romantic type but definitely can be after some dark Chocolate  .

It is interesting indeed if PEA (known as the ‘love chemical’/‘bliss molecule’) could work its magic through perfume…

Visionary

I remember reading somewhere that PEA was effective as a transdermal application, but I may be totally off. Makes sense if you’re mixing it into a lotion base and spreading it all over yourself. Somewhere buried in Harris’ posts is something about perfume, alcohol and the percentage of transdermal absorption, but all I can find is this post: Water Vs. Alcohol

it looks pretty major to me…

Anyyywayyyss.. HOLY MUSIC RIGHT THERE! I love IT! Checked up on the authors myspace.. downloaded… listened to it more than 300 times already (I think)

[Another positive review of the effects of Smiley perfume is pasted in below. I wonder if it has any effects on others (as in not just the wearer). Jasmin mentioned that PEA may be effective as a transdermal application, so that would mean its effects are limited to the wearer. However if the Smiley perfume effects others then it wouldn’t just be a transdermal thing and the PEA ‘love molecule’ may then be a useful addition to pheromones. -Visionary]

Fragrance Road-Test: Smiley Perfume Smelly Happy People
Fafi Takes a Whiff

French artist Fafi is the 30-year-old queen of cool, known for her trademark “Fafinettes,” a cast of big-breasted, lush-lipped, Lolita-like nymphettes that she paints on walls worldwide. She’s created everything from T-shirts to toy figurines; and has collaborated on design projects with Sony, Colette, Coca-Cola, and Adidas. The little lady from Toulouse is even teaming up with Kelis on a collection to coincide with the singer’s next album launch this month.
The French graffeuse has practically become a household name lately, thanks to a successful string of exhibitions and book publications (the most recent entitled Love and Fafiness*)*. Here, Fafi pauses to try out Smiley Perfume, a groundbreaking new fragrance that promises to make people happy – because if anyone knows how to stimulate hormones, it’s this girl.
The deal: Smiley by Ora-Ito claims to be the first antidepressant perfume, containing ingredients supposedly scientifically-proven to regenerate endorphins. And, yes, this stuff is legal!
The brand: Some refer to French designer Ora-Ito as “the other Marc Newson,” considering he’s reinterpreted everything from Vuitton backpacks to Heineken bottles, mobile phones and Mac computers.
Fafi tells it like it is:
“To me it really smells like summer. It reminds me of what tanned, sunburnt skin smells like.”
Packaging and design:
“I usually prefer the spray nozzle to be placed in the center of the bottle, but with this one, they’ve positioned it on the side. It’s cool design, but doesn’t really work for functionality. Not for me anyway. It’s a bit awkward."
What fragrance do you usually wear?
“The perfume of my baby son Klorane.”
What kind of mood were you in before you put it on?
“I was feeling happy to be out.”
What kind of mood were you in after you put it on?
“I had a fantastic night, a really great evening and am not entirely sure if it’s because of the perfume, but it could have been, I suppose.”
What do you think of the smell?
“It’s much too sugary for me.”
What is your favorite smell?
“La fleur d’oranger” (Orange Blossom)
~Linlee Allen

Perhaps this stuff would work as part of some sunscreen liquid… you would put the stuff on your girlfriend and it would be full of pheromones… hehe…
