Milton Erickson is my all time hero! He died in 1987 and I’ve always regretted not being able to meet him. He was leagues ahead of his time, and no one ever showed a better grasp of subconscious principles than he did. He was ostracized from the analytic psychology group because of his radical ideas.
If I remember correctly from what I’ve read, Richard Bandler said he met Erickson and said Erickson was brilliant and how honored he was to meet him. Ross Jeffries also talks very highly of Erickson. Erickson is definitely a legend in the field.
Yesterday I was on my way to Universal Studios to do the tourist thing. I was waiting in the lobby for a taxi and I see the lovely Nicole walking by. I pretend like I didnt. Her voice, like an angel, calls out my name and of course I pretended to ignore her like it wasnt my name. She stops and says I knew it and I started to laugh. I had to prove to her my name was SteveO. I did some Kino and tried to anchor her feelings towards me.
She got very flush red and did a little shutter. She then said I need to go and walked away. No goodbye, no nothing. Personally I think I might have pushed her close to abandoning her work for a morning tour of my room, but I’ll never know.
Bandler (and Grinder) IS NLP. NLP has found its way into everything, from psychotherapy to marketing and advertising. Even that erotic hypnotist I posted about in the Lounge bases her hypnotic style on NLP and Eriksonian Hypnosis. In fact, if you can get past the kookiness of what her products do and listen to how she weaves her words, you can see she’s got a wonderful grasp on the concepts.
If you want to see where it all began, do a search for Frogs into Princes. That’s one of Bandler and Grinder’s books. The other biggie is The Structure of Magic (don’t let the title scare you off. It’s not some new-agey pop-psy book)
But… yes, as Steve was saying, that’s not the point of his thread. Steve, is that the last time you anticipate ever seeing her? T’would be a travesty if you left Orlando without so much as an email address to keep her thoughts beaming towards Memphis.
Er… nope! You need to grok Steve, Castlerock. See, girls like to have guys chase them… But not SteveO… He won’t chase girls. He wants girls to chase him. And that is the point.
