The Rules by Fein and Schneider

OK so there’s an entire thread dedicated to The Game, and a lot of females have voiced their opinions. Some favorable, some not. I even got myself a neg for saying that some women are very unethical, just like some men.

This book is written for women on the concepts and strategies of PUA.

Would love to hear the female perspective on this.

(hehe I love this stuff  )

Anybody that follows this gumff is off their trolley.

End of story. What a load of tosh. 20 of us read it prior to painting the town red in Amsterdam on a friend’s Hen-Weekend a few years back (when it first came out I believe) and seriously almost died laughing.

I’ve said it once and I will say it again: WE SCOTS HAVE NO PLACE FOR ARTIFICE, PRETENSE, OR MANIPULATIVE BUNKUM!

Be you male or female, you won’t survive a nanosecond here, if you are anything other than genuine.

Hmm, I think I’d get along well with the Scots. Sounds like my kind of people.

I haven’t been interested in reading it; it sounded like pure spoiled princess manipulation to me, from what I heard of it.

Not sure what book you guys are talking about. Is there a link to it or something? Apart from The Game? I always thought Neill Strauss wrote that. Who are Fein and Schneider then?

As for the Scots; I would have to say (grandfather being Glaswegian) that what Ail says is very true. They’re genuine sort of folk; more into substance than style. By this I mean they’re not easily manipulated.

I would not want to manipulate anyone into doing something they’re not likely to enjoy. Persuade perhaps but not manipulate. As Carrie or someone said about the dude Mystery; as good as he is at the “pick up” he does not seem capable of sustaining a long term meaningful relationship. Ideally you’d like to be able to do both - ie. meet a new person and form a bond with them - short and long term. Based on something more meaningful to you both that pick up tricks.

I found the rules to be too much of a throwback to pre-sexual revolution for me to deal with.

one female self-help book I do sort of like is “Why men love bitches” - i definitely don’t agree with all of it, and find some of the tactics in there to be manipulative crap, but there are certain bits about self-value and maintaining independence that i think many women could improve their perspectives from.

but then again I’m single, by choice, so what the hell do i know about making men marry me. lol

I thought it was funny that the authors who touted their “Rules Marriages” ended up getting divorced later. However, I have to disagree ~ the books aren’t about being someone you’re not.

The basic premise of the book is for women to stop dwelling on “that one guy”, which I guess is similar to the PUA’s aim to stop pining after that one woman. The books advocate being an emotionally self-sufficient woman who focuses on improving her life – a solid support network of friends and family. It also hinges heavily on the idea that men like to be the pursuer, and that they don’t like it when women pursue them.

The ideas that Fein and Schneider are trying to get across are such:

  • Be yourself and take good care of yourself.
  • Wait for men to approach you.
  • Don’t try too hard to make men like you. Either they’ll like you for who you are, or they won’t.
*]Focus on being yourself and then you’ll attract men who love you for who you are, not for who you’re trying to pretend to be.

hmm..that’s not how I remember the Rules. or maybe it was lost on me when i read nearly a decade ago.

I’ll have to go find my copy and read it again.
