I had the pleasure meeting him and hearing him play quite a few times back in the 1980s. His career was probably at its lowest point then and he had taken-up a residency in an Edinburgh pub for the duration of the Festival - my local!
Even though this was before he quit the booze and got his life back together, he was still an astounding guitarist and spellbinding performer.
