I haven’t seen the comparison, and I have always thought Tori Amos was a natural beauty, but I can tell you I won’t be casting any stones at her. Thankfully I look young for my age, but the pressure for 40-ish women to try almost anything to look younger is overwhelming. From every direction we get the message that only young (or young looking) women have value and are desirable. Celebrities manage to look 35 at 65 from all the surgeries and treatments they can afford but the average middle class woman can’t.

Definitely a nose job and either a brow lift or her eyelids done. She’s lost the earthy look I aways thought she had, and looks like every other celebrity starlet.
The worst cosmetic procedure a woman can get is collagen lips. If you want to pay somebody to make you look completely stupid, there is no better way. That’s just me being completely honest. Don’t even consider getting them done. I’ve yet to see an example where they actually made a woman look more attractive.
They don’t make you pretty, they make you look like a toolebag freakshow.
In general, I agree with you, though I’d point out that you may only notice the bad lip enhancements (same with other plastic surgeries). Who knows how many subtle and more appropriate procedures we see without recognizing them as such.
Someone else who has gone crazier and crazier over the years is Dolly Parton. Granted she’s now 70 I think and we don’t know what she’d look like without all the nip/tuck. But giant boobs aside, she has totally changed her face – multiple lifts, eyelids, cheek and chin implants, nose job, and of course the lovely collagen lips. The saddest part, IMHO, is that she really was a natural beauty, but she never really got to experience that, because even as a young woman she was all about presenting an artificial beauty. The first picture, with hair and boobs cropped out, gives a glimpse of this. Very sad.
