Why do guys stare and do nothing?

Can I call someone I really think is not beautiful, beautiful?
Sorry to disappoint you but I can’t. Anyway I wouldn’t say it to them.
How would you call them? Is it politically incorrect to see someone as ugly?
I think, would I want to spend my life with that person? I would have to think about various things, mostly personality/character, but looks count for me too..

I’m with tacitus on this.
For me a woman is interesting to me if she looks cute, perhaps has some interesting way to smile… plus has a good character/personality..

probably ^^
I’m not native english speaking, and the only other word i could think of was “unhot” which isnt a real word as far as i remember, but you understand what i mean atleast :slight_smile:

i guess for me to see so many people that i wouldnt want to sleep as ugly means i am seeing an awful LOT of ugliness.

i disagree but i certainly dont view you as stupid.

to see someone as not beautiful automatically makes them ugly?

i think its LESS political correctness, but speaks more to my character and how i choose to percieve. not +/- but different.
:frowning:

No, for me there’s a range in between of more or less plain (I hate how it makes it sound like it’s a numeric range!) looking…
As for myself I don’t automatically think I want to sleep with a woman if I see her and think she’s beautiful. I may be physically attracted yes.

Some women look very plain and unattractive. Not ugly mind you. But if they took a bit more of themselves, they would look attractive, I’m sure. If you see some of the women on tv on those make-over programmes (or programmes with a make over segment) you can see how different they look… with an improved hairstyle and clothes etc they look like a real different woman, a hot one for sure!

One thing to note here is that if you look like a troglodyte or even average and you are with a “hot” babe, what do you think that looks like? You only look vastly less attractive by standing there at her side, not more so. If you look at the color teal, by itself it could be green it could be blue, but if you put it beside green or blue it looks more the opposite than the same.

Wouldn’t someone whom you get along with and who has a great personality be better than someone who looks fantastic but whose personality is flat and whose only skills in life revolve around making herself that way? The more ordinary girl will become fantastic to you over time. So much so that no one else will even matter to you.

How about someone who you get along fine with, has a great personality and looks good to you too? :smiley:

@ash,
From a logic perspective, yes. But as one of the mpua’s say, “attraction isnt a choice” also, (while i know i my self said the same thing.. and i appolegice for that.) its very generelising to say either hot with no personality or ugly with personality. (i have a feeling that its more or less equely devided)

to put it in a somwhat cynicle (i think its called..) way, you look like more of a player if you walk into a room with a hot girl on each arm, then if you do the same with two mediocre girls or two.. well.. ugly girls

@Pheonix,
that would ofcourse be the optimal

OMG LOR nacked!!! NO AVATAR, signature!? What’s going on…

Lor - do you believe beauty for women is skin-deep? I wish it were otherwise, but I think it is more than that. (Ie there is a surprisingly high degree of agreement about looks across cultures). of course beauty isn’t enough…

go back a few hundred years and hot girls were white and fat, nowadays they are skinny and have a sun tan

that’s a good one!
Though some use fake tans now… :smiley:

they are stil brown be it real or not. girls also use make up, thats also fake (same are manufactured pheromones :wink: )

I agreee with you. I don’t have a preference for tanned skin though, it’s just the same to me…

That really is all there is to it. Though it’s a big “all.”

Great thread.

Sometimes somebody can become a lot less interesting to me.. if you tell me how you slaughtered your pets for example the first time we talk..:confused:

I think beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You could be attracted to a person because of beauty but if that person has no substance or intellect to keep you attracted then its not likely you will stay attracted. I also think that what is beautiful to you may not be to the guy standing next to you and I think that is the way the universe intended it to be or we would all be after the same things and people.
I think ugly is something that comes from within and that all people are beautiful I am just not attracted to them all.

Tisha

I think you have a valid point. I may think someone is beautiful but speaking to someone else, they may point out a physical defect in that person’s looks etc… which you never noticed! So there is a lot we ignore unconsciously in our visual processing…

Very true. And it’s a mighty good thing for some of us.
