I have been wanting to get a kayak for myself for almost 4 years now, and I finally have enough success with my business to do it. Bills are all paid, and now I’m getting a kayak. A Wilderness Systems Pamlico 135T, to be exact. (T for Tandem.) Brand new. Woohooo!
Now I just have to master the paddling and strokes (wow, that sounds erotic) and then I can start going for “paddle dates” with the ladies. I can see it now… “Hey, bebe… want me to paddle you for a while?” lmao
That’s awesome. I have two kayaks, I love it. So relaxing and fun, aha, and I like your date idea. Not exactly sure what exact brands mine are and whatnot, but hope you enjoy your kayak.
So, do you live on a lake or something? My backyard happens to be a lake, so I decided kayaking sounded nice and.. Well.. It was. =P
Yeah, we kinda have a few really big lakes and lots of small ones and rivers, here… lessee… the Atlantic ocean, the Gulf of Mexico and who could forget Lake Okeechobee? I live very close to the St. Lucie River, so I can pretty much drive a short distance, drop my kayak in the canal and paddle to the river, and from there, the ocean if I want to, although my model isn’t designed for rough stuff.
I’m just interested in getting some sun, getting some exercise, getting OUT of this damned office once in a while, having fun, having some time to center myself and experience the healing power of quiet… and of course… taking girls out on dates with my boat won’t be a bad thing either.
It seems like a win-win-win to me.
Oh, and there’s also going stock photography of the boat, the boat plus an attractive woman in a bikini, and transporting models to locations where gawkers are not able to follow and where there are different and unusual backdrops.
Just don’t make the mistake a friend of mine did last year, trolling a lure behind his sea kayak, you never quite know how big the next fish is gonna be, a 10lb European Sea Bass can swim harder than a 50 year old man can paddle
Owned one when I was in FT. Pierce. Launched at what used to be the Black Pearl launch at the base of the Hutchinson Island bridge. There is a lot of good places to paddle around in that area. Mostly around the cuts across from the Coast Guard Station. Happy Paddling.
I do, but I live in Minnesota, so I’ve converted it into a storage container for my artificial Xmas tree. It fits perfectly and since the kayak is red, it looks right festive hanging in the rafters. The paddle is great for knocking the cats off the tree, too. Bonus!
Black Pearl is gone now, I think, but that’s a good place to launch from. I was expecting to launch from just over the bridge where the museum is, but the Black Pearl area is probably better. Thanks for the tip.
I’m not in or through Jacksonville much anymore, I was thinking you could show me how to do some of the kayak paddle strokes or something. But I am planning to hit up the St. John’s river next shrimping season… is that possible to do from a kayak? lol
Okay, I have the kayak, the paddle, the life jacket, a whistle (apparently required for alerting bigger boats of your presence), and a car carrier.
The straps on the car carrier made no sense and both didn’t work and were too long, so I replaced them with ratcheting straps. This thing is going no-where while it’s on MY car roof!
Had to figure out how to load it on my car alone… it’s heavy and bulky, but I figured it out… and when I had all this done and figured out… I was out of time to use it. So… tomorrow.
Shame nobody around here wants to go out with me, but hey. It’s their loss. I’m gonna have fun with this… planning to go crabbing and shrimping, and maybe this summer, I’ll go lobstering, too.
