Yet another factor in "why" she reacts or doesn't

I don’t mind being corrected, it affords me more opportunity to be a smartass!

Yes, bequeath is appropriate. You’re killin’ me with your manliness!

Well I have often said being a smartass is better that being a dumbass. So I certainly appreciate the fact that you lean to the smartass end of the scale. As I am a firm believer that blatent ignorant stupidity should be painful.

Now Im not saying we should kill all the stupid people. Just remove product warning labels and let the problem solve itself.

Interesting thread..

This is well known and documented by most of the long time testers. Women will be aroused by sexual mones more during ovulation. However the sexual cues that these specific mones trigger wont always make a women react to that arousal. Men and women approach sex differently. Men are instinctual and women emotional. There are different “classes” of pheromones and its only the sexual ones that are more potent during ovulation.

Race, gender, age. health status and personality are the biggest factors in your natural production of mones. Daily diet can influence but not much.

Its been discussed but pretty much disproved. Women frequently use the androgens and have been for years and none have tested positive for increased androgens in their systems. Same with the men using the estrogen based mones. Your body would have to produce the correct hormones to release the correct pheromones.

Again I would have to say no. Pheromones are by products of your hormones. Your natural hormone levels do not change because the pheromones do not enter the blood stream. I suppose if you sat in a tub filled with mones and soaked they could but with normal topical use they don’t. They do enter the brain but your brain has a blood barrier that prevents them from entering the blood stream while still triggering a neurological response.

Yes this would have an affect as well as smoking. Anything that inflamed the airways will stop those little molecules from getting to there target.

Its the inflammation of the olfactory system not the covering of the VNO. The VNO is not functional in humans. This has been known for quite sometime. There are more direct pathways to our brains in the olfactory system.

Oh and bequeath means to pass on to another. You don’t have to die to use the word LOL

Tisha

You have been far too quiet recently Tisha!

LOL Unusual isn’t it ?

Well this past fall we moved so I was busy with that then came the dreaded Christmas season at work and in January I got bacterial pneumonia and ended up in the hospital. I am just starting to feel better now.

Thank you for noticing I was MIA Mobo

Tisha

Glad you are feeling better now - that sounds like quite a come-through! :open_mouth:

*In females, LH supports theca cells in the ovaries that provide androgens and hormonal precursors for estradiol production.

  • Preti, Wysocki, Barnhart, Sondheimer, and Leyden (2003) have demonstrated that male axillary extracts increase LH levels and that they also elevate mood in female recipients. This mood elevation might be manifest in preferences that are manifest in the sexual behavior of women. The putative human pheromone, androstadienone, has also been shown to elicit hormonal and mood changes (Grosser, Monti-Bloch, Jennings-White, & Berliner, 2000; Jacob & McClintock, 2000).

Yes and if you read the actual studies you will see that the increase in hormones is due to pheromonal stimuli but it doesn’t remain after the stimuli is gone. The hormone levels return to base line. This is what is meant when they say “chemistry” between a male and a female. So returning to the original question… can pheromones change your natural signature after you discontinue use ? No they cant.

They work by causing certain neurotransmitters to fire which can cause certain hormones to spike in response but they return to baseline.

If they caused significant and lasting change they would be classified as drugs.

Meaning no disrespect, what qualifies you to make such absolute statements? What are your credentials? The reference in question contained extensive references, I’ve read many. I’ve spoken to Brian about this before. If there cannot be a polite discussion of facts based upon evidence, hopefully backed by something other than “I said so,” I will end my participation on the general forum. Merely being a pheromone tester is proof of nothing. You are not a scientist. You are a nice person, and I wish you good health, but you are not a doctor or medical researcher. You’ve not posted any objective references to support your assertions. Please do so. I’m offended by your remarks.

If things don’t change around here, I will by God delete every post and will only do the minimum necessary to keep my RU status and order products, because any hope of science on this board is long, long, long gone. No self-respecting grad student would touch it with a 90-ft. pole.

First…

I am sorry if my remarks offend you. I don’t feel I was rude to you so I don’t quite understand whats offending you though. Its a discussion. Your offended because you don’t agree with me ??

Secondly…

This forum is for discussion of pheromones and our experiences with them. From those experiences Androtics creates products. While we talk science because its of interest and a big part of the interest of many members, this is a also a marketing research forum. The science of creating mixes. Not the biology of pheromones. Believe me I worked here long enough to know. There is no rule, nor has there ever been a rule that we have to back up statements or our opinions with wiki links or any other study. There is a section of the forum for the posting of studies and abstracts for those who want to delve more deeply into the science end.

Thirdly…

Who am I… LOL (If you only knew) I can ask you the same question though.

Lets just say I have been a part of this of this forum since nearly day one. No, I am not a doctor , nor a scientist, nor have I ever claimed to be. I do have a tremendous amount of experience with pheromones especially Androtics pheromones but I am always open to others opinions and experiences when shared and I dont take offence if their opinions differ from mine.

That being said… I hope you do stay and participate. I have always enjoyed your posts and observations on the putatives.

Tisha

With all due respect, i think the biology has to be acknowledged or all the marketing research in the world means nothing considering the white elephant in this room is the placebo response.

That one issue is enough to prove that blind studies as well as biochemical science has to be done if we ever want to standardize this science.

I believe in the science and I want it to legit and peer reviewed.

This is how real knowledge growth happens.

I really wonder if this post is going to disappear like others of mine have.

Believe me, its not going unnoticed by other actors on the stage. Actors who have no ill will against AD are starting to question some of the actions here.

Sad really because I actually love some of the products here and I have a good reason to think that AD is sitting on some gold that will come out sooner or later.

I’m not in it either way. But I feel really slimy knowing some of my comments both positive and negative have disappeared.

I find negative reviews on sites to be much more useful that positive ones and negative ones are the first I search for and read. Not that I believe everything negative I read…

I posted direct quotes. Nothing in those quotes or articles discussed anabolic steroids or use of pheromones regulated by FDA as medical drugs or by federal statute. You didn’t read the articles. Rather than the discuss the merits of the science contained in an article published by a qualified scientist, you posted a reply wholly non-germane.

You are not the moderator of this forum. It is not for you to say what I may do or not. Your experience testing pheromone sprays is no doubted. I do, I’m sorry to say, doubt your scientific literacy. Pheromones have been shown to affect levels of circulating steroid hormones and metabolites in the body. You contended in the posts above that they can’t. Actually, they can, and I provided direct quotes. Rather than refuting the information quoted, you responded without reading it. I am not the author of that material. The question is as to the merits of the material. The question is as to the merits of the material.

To be clear, and again wishing no ill will to you personally and wishing only good health…you have represented yourself in posts has having authority in matters of medicine and science. I don’t stipulate to that authority. If you post an opinion that appears wrong, I reserve the right to post direct quotes from qualified sources and disagree with that opinion. If I’m not permitted to post this disagreement, then I don’t want to post at all. I am not inclined to do or think a certain way because Tisha says so. If I feel Tisha is wrong, I shall so state, again not using any type of personal attack. I like you, but I totally disagree with your prior post and don’t find it to be accurate. If you feel it is accurate, please post something that backs up that claim from an objective source.

In other words, this is not a science forum, but it isn’t a junk science or rumor mill platform either. And, if it is, count me out. This isn’t 2008 anymore. I’ve spoken to Brian F., who is now in that official capacity. I stated in December that if this type of behavior persists, I will not participate. He has stated, along with major personnel changes and restocks, a mission to strengthen scientific accuracy and recruit graduate students. Were I a grad student, I would run at top speed from pseudo-scientific mumbo jumbo and hocus pocus like this. You aren’t talking science. That’s my point. You just posted stuff off the top of your head, and we’re all just supposed to swallow it as gospel. I’m not. I don’t. I won’t, no matter how many green rep points you have.

“Yes and if you read the actual studies you will see that the increase in hormones is due to pheromonal stimuli but it doesn’t remain after the stimuli is gone.”

Nobody said it did. Maybe it does. Does it? Prove it. I did read the study. You didn’t. That was disrespectful. Unless you can read 10K words in 10 minutes.

“This is what is meant when they say “chemistry” between a male and a female. So returning to the original question… can pheromones change your natural signature after you discontinue use ? No they cant.” They can’t? Says who? You made a claim of fact without any evidence, degree or qualifications at all. Unless you can back it up, it’s not fact. Define discontinue. Define use. For how many hours do pheromones alter endocrine function and metabolism? Where is the proof of this?

Which neurotransmitters?
Which receptors on the olfactory bulb?
Which androgen metabolites? At what concentration? Which GABA receptor subunits on which epithelial tissue?

Where are the receptor binding sites for P75? What is the name of this molecule? What studies do you have stating P75 does not affect androgens or metabolites? Where do they mention the IUPAC name of P75?

You see, Tish, you’re saying things that just are not true or can’t be proven conclusively. Nobody knows what P75 can or can’t do, unless you know what that item is, for absolute fact. And you don’t. The information you posted is just an opinion…but people who don’t know better think you are stating fact. It leads to confusion and misinformation. And I will post any links I wish to or any opinion I wish to, and I will not seek or require your opinion first. As to the topic at hand, I feel that is wrong. Your opinion is not correct, or is not totally accurate according to current science.

I don’t see where I say your not permitted to post anything. I never said that or implied it. I never said I had some authority here other then mentioning being a long time user, former mod and participant of this forum and AD products. I never said anywhere that you have to agree with me or believe me “because I said so”. I stated my view on subjects in different threads. You can say you don’t agree with me without attacking me or my character and Yes I do feel its an attack.

Look I really don’t need this. I was asked to come back after being away for some time. I am sorry if I offended you. You don’t have to erase your posts or agree with me or whatever. I never asked you to. I never asked anyone to. If people find my opinions so offensive I will take them elsewhere.

Tish

The End.

I wasn’t pointing fingers at you mones…just pointing out that it did happen…

pm me sometime mones. dbot had some interesting ideas and I have a database of virtually everything he posted about pheromones that google can find…

The guy was quite simply a genius
