Yay, Opeth!!! Can’t wait for their new album (comes out 6th of June I believe)…
Buckethead is great, but I can listen to his more… errrmmm… strange works not too often. Colma and Electric Tears are great chillout music!
Yeah some of his stuff is a little off beat, but I still enjoy it, then again, I’m a little off beat, so we go pretty well together ![]()
But yes, Colma and Tears and fantastic albums. There is few music I can listen to while doing my home work that doesn’t make me completely ADD out and those are two albums. Mostly I just listen to Floyd because I find that rather than listening to the music it kinda just invades my body. Animals is the greatest album ever, imo ![]()
Yeah, Floyd is great too - but all after Animals and WYWH is crappy IMO. I even don’t like The Wall much…
I think you’re talking about enigma YouTube - Enigma - Return to innocence. And the only bands I recognize are fear factory, static-x, prodigy, and infected mushroom.
Crap + Floyd, in the same sentence ![]()
They are my absolute favorite band, Syd Barret is an artistic genius no matter which medium he expressed his art through. The Wall’s I think are amazing representation of how people were treated in the time period where he was born, not to mention the quality of the music and the variety of instruments and sounds and melodies not only used in every album, but throughout each song is amazing. Even better is the fact that most of his music was written from inside an insane asylum where he spent most of his life. The raw emotion he is able to put into his music is beautiful, and the way makes you feel it (if you enjoy the bank) is unique every time I listen to it, at least for me. I have had some very profound moments listening to their albums, especially Ummagumma before I sleep.
I respect your opinion, but I beg you reconsider! Or at least take it easy on them and call it “not your type of music,” out of respect for one of the greatest bands of their generation and ours.![]()
Now, I’m afraid to ask…but what about Led Zeppelin?
prepares for the worst
@Eldros
It wasn’t that, and they aren’t a band that you would find on YouTube because they aren’t a band. It is tribal music recorded on the reservation, and not to sound corny, but at a ritual celebration. Imagine the stereotype music you imagine hearing on some hollywood movie or cartoon, except authentic and profound, and much much better.
They haven’t done a lot of albums after Animals and WYWH - so that means I enjoy most of their discography, right?
I just miss the magic that their music from the 60s and 70s had…
I guess I should just refuse to answer on that Led Zeppelin question then… ![]()
Oh btw, my path to freedom began with OpenSuse… ![]()
/facepalm
You are correct sir. Im really exhausted (No sleep since saturday) and I didnt think to read the after part of that sentence. In that case I agree with you, I do prefer their earlier stuff, some of the later is a little less quality than I come to expect, but I still like it.
And if that is the case, then no, consider the question un asked ![]()
EDIT:
Good man! Wherever your path begins, as long as it begins with Unix it will end the same place as mine.
WORLD DOMINATION =P
Too hard to pick just one by Hinder. THey are probably my favorite band right now and my favs include, “Better Than Me”, “I Don’t Want to Know (Bliss)”, “How Long” and “Nothin Good About Goodbye” .
Thats what I thought, but it was worth a try. I can also simulate what you reported the music doing using a pink noise generator. Set it at 10hz then descend down to like 4 hz (lowest brain activity level), and when you fall asleep, it is programed it to go back up to 20hz + (increases brain activity, for those crazy dreams).
That would be a load of fun, never heard to those before, but Ill have to look and see if I can find something like that
I just found a video on youtube from a german neofolk band, that plays extremely dark but beautiful music. Someone at another forum once called this piece of music the most frightening piece he’s ever heard. The Band is called Empyrium (unfortunately they don’t exist anymore) and the song is called ‘Die Schwäne im Schilf’ (engl: ‘The swans in the reed’). I hope you like it! The video is as dark and beautiful as the music!
I wouldn’t call that frightening (then again I mainly listen to gothic metal). And it was kinda. . . too bland for my tastes, I need music with energy.
YouTube - Nightwish-Ghost Love Score
YouTube - Korn - Thoughtless
YouTube - korn - freak on a leash
YouTube - Theatre of Tragedy - Image
YouTube - Nightwish - Bye Bye Beautiful
YouTube - Nightwish - Nemo (full)
YouTube - LEAVES’ EYES - Into Your Light
cool.. it all really goes back to Bach ![]()
Hey Eldros, thanks for the Nightwish tunes!
Great music, and kind of takes me back to the girl groups of the 70’s and 80’s like Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Lita Ford, Jame Child, and a newer rocker, Fefe Dobson, out of Canada, tht country of origin for superstars like Rush and Triumph. Although none are quite as hard or dark, but loved the tunes.
Just incase you wanted to know, here’s the hotty (I’m not gay, its just true) who writes most of Nightwish’s music: http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/5680/tuomastp4.jpg
YouTube - While Your Lips Are Still Red <–wrote that too. If you don’t like this song, you need to be shot.
sorry to interrupt ![]()
