I definitely agree about media and a mainstream idea of what sexy is. I think I ought to pop up in the lounge and ask men and women what their idea of sexy is… or has that been done already?
Now that you bring up that point of view, I can kind of see that myself. I could definitely sense some hostility behind the Women’s Mistakes and couldn’t place what it was coming from… but there are quite a few answers to that.
** Snodgrass said… ** After wasting part of my day reading emails instead of doing real work, I stumbled upon your “50 mistakes” and appreciate the sheer awesomeness of you understanding of the male psyche. Are you sure you’re not a dude? If so, I would like enter my marriage proposal. Fuck it, if you are a dude, I’ll marry you anyway for said awesomeness. 1/05/2007 1:57 PM
“Are you sure you’re not a dude?” Ha ha, I wonder the very same thing. Though after a glance at her blog, I think she may indeed be a woman. A very… strange sort of woman, though.
I personally don’t befriend men who have that “male psyche” described in that list of mistakes. Oooh, it rubs me the wrong way, it does.
From first hand experience I would say that porno/advertising/TV has made me expect:
1.every encounter with a woman to result in her nonstop screaming at the top of her lungs like I just ran over her foot with my car.
2.I’m always going to hook up with chicks with super hot bodies.
3.My body will also be super hot.
4.Everything will go perfectly as planned.
5.My lame sexual innuendos will result in threesomes every time.
6.I will always rock her world.
7.I can never be too kinky.
…lastly and perhaps the most important
8.She is always, always in the mood.
Ha ha! Threshold, you’re amazing. I like that you can distinguish between the media and reality - it’s an ability that’s growing far more rare as time goes on, it seems…
Personally I think she is a woman who has heard too many of her girlfriends complain about lack of men and lack of sexual knowledge in the men that they do end up with. I think this is her reply to them, something that she cannot tell them to their face.
