Airport concerns and bottle issue

I’m leaving for my party trip this weekend, and was putting together my “clear bag” of liquids that the lovely airport security requires, and I was wondering if anyone has had problems with security about pheromone products. All are to-go, three have labels and one is the travel size I fill with Instant Shine and has no label. I don’t think I’ll have any problems with security, but thought I’d ask. It’s all carry-on, no checked baggage.

Second is a problem I’m noticing: When I got my bottle of MX301, it was only about 2/3 full. I’d seen some other posts about bottles leaking, and the envelope definitely smelled like some product had leaked out. Wasn’t too worried about it.

The other day I had a “panic test” of MX301 (more in my journal), only used two sprays. This is the ONLY time I’ve used it. I also store it upright and tightened down the lid when I got it. My pheromones are not accessible to anyone but me. However, when I went to put it in my travel bag, I noticed that it is now less than half full. I have carefully examined the bottle, no cracks, the lid is on tight, the cap stays on, I even peeled back the label to make sure the lid was screwed on tight. I have no idea where it’s leaking, but considering that I haven’t even had a chance to properly test it and it’s no longer available, I’m a bit upset. Anyone else experience problems like this with their bottles?

No probs with bottle leakage, not sure about airport security though. Try and remember the spray bottles have metallic springs inside as part of the mechanism which could set off the security sensor (not sure) in which case you’ll have to bust out all your bottles and spray them on yourself to show security that it’s not an explosive.
If you have to take them you should have your bag checked, they have looser rules for bags that you won’t be able to reach during flight.

They’re gonna x-ray the bag anyway, you have to present “liquids” when you go through security.

I’m not going to pay $50 extra to check my bags and then wait forever for my luggage, not to mention risk never seeing it again, when I can carry everything I need in one bag. It’s only an hour and a half flight.

If they make me spray everything on myself to prove what it is, then at least the stewardesses might be friendlier!

Airport security is getting ridiculous nowadays. My airport does very frequent random patdowns of people they find suspicious(read:men) they suspected me being one of them. It was my first time experiencing the new scanner. I thought I would be okay going through the metal detector considering I have a brace which was alright but then the scanner found I had something on me.

I had to wait and have my brace “swabbed”. As long as the bottles are under 2 oz its normally fine in the carry on bag. Like it has been said before don’t go bringing ammo with its label on but besides that nothing else would be suspected. I put tape or labels around my to-go’s that I dont wanna remove the labels so I can have a little privacy even with my lack of it.

I traveled domestically and internationally with my to-go’s. I peeled of the Androtics labels, wrote “cologne” on a piece of scotch tape and replaced the labels with that. I checked my bags and all my products arrived safely. The only thing I’d worry about is the cabin pressure possibly loosening up the tops (if that’s even possible).

I fly out of Newark and JFK. Security up here is no joke, they even want to x-ray people when going through security.

im interested to hear your about your experiences with airport security as i am going on a trip to vegas next month and was wondering the same thing. please keep us updated when you come back!

Its possible, I would recommend maybe scotch tape around the cap. I can’t guarantee anything because unfortunately Androtics can not yet defy the laws of physics, however I can tell you that I travel with these all of the time and have not yet had any real issue.

Several things you can do with the To Gos. Several have been mentioned.

  1. Put them in a plastic bag with a paper towel around them in case there is a leak. Put them in your checked baggage. I have never had a problem doing this.

  2. For a lot of the products - peel off the label, cut around the “name” portion - removing all references to pheromones, reapply, put in a plastic bag, put in your carry on. They are cologne samples. MX301 is just a weird cologne name.

  3. Peel off the labels, write your own (maybe good for Ammo … ) and do the same as 2 above.

One To Go bottle in your pocket will not set off an airport metal detector. Don’t ask. Might set off a wand but no experience with that. But they WILL turn up in the new X Ray machines.

Why do people peel off the labels? If I worked as airport security I’d be more suspicious of tape with pen on it than professionally printed labels.

I do it for privacy. I got searched at a club and had to take things out of my pocket. The bouncer inspected it and grilled me about what it was. It’s easier to say its cologne and just spray it and go. I use the smiley dots you can pick up at any office supply store and just remember what color is what.

I got through airport customs no problem for my flight to France. Only took hand luaggage as 10kg is more than suffice for myself while I visit my mates. I just put a few togos in the clear bag which goes through the scanner with the other metal objects. Just expect to get the standard bottles through.

Most of my togos suffer leakage when flying. Perhaps the air pressure changes and being inverted are to blame. I’ve had much better luck with Sephora atomizers not leaking. But like most things in life you get what you pay for.

I’ve flown 6 or 7 times a year for the last 10 years and have never been asked about my colognes or mones. The worse that has happened is TSA made me pour out a travel flask of Jack Daniels. They said flammable liquids are not allowed onboard. That reason is so odd as I can buy more booze inside the terminal or on the plane…

Hate that new body scanner. You have to leave all you carry-ons, wallet & ID on the belt while you wait 2 minutes for the damn scan to image.

My togos in my checked luggage were ok when I flew. Interestingly, I noticed they were out of order in their little holders in my toiletry bag meaning the bag had been searched.

In regards to the alcohol, they allow you to buy drinks in the departure area because all the products have been checked. They have no idea that it is Jack Daniels even if you say it is. Annoying, I know.

I flew internationally w/ A314 in my suitcase, and when I got home, it was gone.

Just saying…

They said no flammable liquids, so Jack Daniels sold in the secure area is no less flammable than Jack Daniels outside! They did say I could drink it so I took a couple big gulps before pouring it out. It was all good after that.

As for the togos, I was hitting about a 50% leak rate, so not all of them leaked. I’ve only noticed my checked luggage being searched once in the last 10 years. When I got to the hotel the straps were released and contents were a mess. My mini Manfrotto tripod was missing…

I’m not sure about airports in the UK but I was reading that US airports are allowed to confiscate anything that they deem suspicious, even if they can’t identify it. If I didn’t know what A314 was and saw the bottle I might think it’s one of many things from incense oils, poppers or even injectable steroids. But, I presume they normally inform people when they confiscate their stuff!

Maybe some bastard security person had heard about A314 and couldn’t resist…

Maybe they just don’t take any risks with alcohol as they can’t tell the Proof there and then.

I’d hate to have my mones spilt over the contents of my luggage. Imagine half a bottle of TUTH being spilt over your clothes? You’ll just be walking down the corridor of the hotel with people either cowering away from you or punching you.

This thread is great to learn from since I’ll be traveling for three weeks from the US to South America

Yea I’m going on a 3 hour jet ride a week from today and would love to bring my A314… maybe I’ll just put a little bit in a smaller bottle… REAAALLLy don’t wanna lose any of that expensive stuff :frowning:

damknit, u guys have me worried now :frowning:

As long as you put them in a quart size zip lock bag they will make it through security just fine. I would worry more about leakage than anything else.
I have traveled a lot recently and can say without a doubt TSA doesn’t care what it is as long as it is less than 4fl oz (each item, not total in the bag) only 1 quart bag per person. There is far too much traffic through the security check points for them to look at it in detail. I am new to mones so I can’t say I have taken them on a trip with me but I would be more concerned with a leak. I recently got stopped because I spaced getting travel size of shave cream and toothpaste and they said I couldn’t take them; I asked them to throw them away for me (no big deal).
I would just remind you on a single quart bag for everything including toothpaste, shave cream, mouthwash, etc… and make sure you get travel size (less than 4 fl oz)! That has to be placed into the x-ray machine along with your shoes, belt, and carry-on bag. As far as not getting stopped at the security just make sure you read the signs and obey the rules (some airports are a little different). I had to go through the new body scanner at Tampa recently and it was no big deal (took about 1 minute max). If they stop you it will be because you didn’t follow the rules, ex. taking your cell phone off or not taking your notebook computer out of its case…just read the rules as you queue up at the checkpoint. I have had my checked-in baggage gone through by TSA 3 times; twice when traveling inside the US and once for an international flight. Each time there was a TSA official note stating they hand searched it (It happened to be the case I put all my liquids in). They have to put that note in if they hand check it. The only other thing I would mention is if you do opt for a checked bag make sure it has a TSA approved lock on it or you may very well get a busted suitcase when you arrive. My first post 9/11 mistake!
Have a safe trip!
