Random Airport Bag Check Cost Me Precious Pheros!

I travel a lot due to the type of business I’m in. I came back yesterday to my house and started unpacking 3 weeks of stuff. As I pulled out my special bag containing all of my pheros, I had an urge to take everyone of them out. I realized that one of the bottle was empty and it was P103 .

Was there a leak? No
Did the container for P103 break? No

Then I realized at the bottom of my bag, I saw a notice from Department of Homeland Security stating that my bags were randomly selected for security check. WHAT? Connecting the dots together, it appears that they decided to empty out one of the bottle and unlucky one happened to be P103. Perhaps they were running a lab test on strangely looking bottle containing liquid with an enigmatic code.

Such a shame, I never really had a chance to experiment with P103 and it was a special gift from Jasmin, too. It could’ve been worse, since they had full bottles to empty out like Ammunition (I would’ve been so pissed if they did).

Just wanted to warn you guys that there is a possibility of this happening to you.

Good to know Eslite19
i am heading down to San Diego in Dec. and was wondering if the bottles were going to be too suspicious looking? The bag they searched was it a carry on? or a luggage?

Thanks for the warning! I’ve always thought there’d be a chance of this happening and have never wanted to risk my bottles on a plane.

So I wonder if there was extra cavorting in the security department of the airport that day …:roll_eyes:

No, and that’s the thing it was a luggage. Due to the limit with carry on during the check point, I packaged my pheros in a special bag with bubble wraps. I would not hear the end of it if I carried them in a carry on bag, since security in airport is very tight and sensitive to liquids.

Security agent: Instant Honesty?! Are you in interrogation?
Instant Female Magic?! What the hell is this?
Ammunition!!! Alright, you’re under arrest!

I never travel with the mother ship and fleet in-tow. That’s just asking for trouble. TSA poured my a flask of Jack Daniels (go figure as you can buy booze in the shops and onboard) and fingered my stuff enough for me to learn my lesson. I always premix cologne and pheromones in Sephora atomizers and squeeze a few gels in a Loreal eye cream jar. I usually pack a couple in my carry-on (in a clear ziplock) and one in my checked bags. If anything happens, I have a backup. Plus, the cologne scent makes it obvious what the hay it is. Togos and P-series bottles are really asking for it…

I always found big airports to be busy, especially on weekends and Friday. My flight got delayed for about 30 minutes, but I’m not sure if I had anything to do with it .

Next time … peel of your labels … get new lables and label’em IFM COLONGE, 103 COLOGNE, TUTH COLONGE.

Just a good idea to cut out the “Hmmmm, wonder what could this be?”

I thought liquids weren’t allowed in carry-ons only, so they had to be put in checked baggage. Do they have the right to just dump your stuff if you’ve packed it away??

No, you can have liquids in your carry on bag, but there is limit. You have to put your liquid items in a clear zip lock bag. I had too much pheros and other colognes so I had to pack them in a luggage. I know small airports do not check luggages through scanners, but they do perform random bag checks. Big airports, some of them run your bags through a huge scanners and then ship your bags in addition to possible random bag checks.

After this experience, yea I’m gonna be doing this just to make sure.

According to the TSA, colognes and many other liquids are allowed as carry-ons if 3 oz or less and packed in a clear plastic bag.

TSA: Permitted and Prohibited Items

Last month I was in Vegas with a female friend. And at the airport she didn’t use a “clear plastic bag” for her lipstick, perfume and various other liquids/semi-liquids. They dumped out her bag and claimed she was trying to hide something from them (everything was in a heap of crap!). Really worked her over. Of course she wasn’t. You should see the inside of her purse. Just not an organized packer like me. What a bunch of bull. Of course you should see what they do to 100 year old grannies in wheelchairs. Just about stick the metal detector up her ass. Not one 100 year wheelchair terrorist yet…

This is specific, but if you’re not wearing tight pants, a last resort might be a to-go or 2 in the back pockets (cargos would be best). I used to wonder how many people slip through with lighters all the time, I even met a guy who carries a ‘ceramic’ one. I’m actually making a trip in a couple months, gotta figure out how best to go about this.

I read an article a while back about a journalist who was going through the screening with a bottle of water he had bought at the airport kiosk and was actually drinking at the time. The screener told him he couldn’t bring it on board, so he said fine, throw it away. The screener told him he would have to get out of line and throw it away himself, the screener wouldn’t touch it.

Face it folks, both the US and Britain are now de facto police states, and a label that says “Cologne” isn’t going to deter these idiots from saying it’s a neroli-scented explosive device.

You guys are talking about carry-ons! IF there “WAS” a rule that said that you can’t carry anything on the plane that liquid or gel, and all of a sudden they allow it again, wouldn’t you think they’d still keep an eye out? Why even chance it?

Put on your mones, and put the rest in your suitcase; and labeling it COLOGNE will give it a better chance for the idiots not taking it.

Both in the US and UK there are people with a new ‘sickness’ called “Liquidophobia”! A sickness resulted from too much believing in misleading facts!

:DI have an idea for a good new product label…“Turn Up the Heat…be a BOOM with the ladies!” That’s sure to make it past security :stuck_out_tongue:

Reminds me of one of Jeff Foxworthy’s comedy routines where at one of the airports in the US he’d been to there was a display of all these different things that people weren’t allowed to put on planes. Of all things, there was a yard leaf blower! Definitely worth seeing his routine.

I mean, why in earth would someone need to take a leaf blower on the plane that it actually made it to that display case. If someone needs to get on a plane to go to clean people’s yards, they’re just going a bit too far, and whats someone gonna do with a leaf blower anyway. “Turn the plane around or I mess up your hair so bad your mother won’t recognize you!”

Sorry, got a bit off topic there but with airport security, but I just couldn’t resist. :stuck_out_tongue:

People do what they do. I saw on the evening news a Philippine national got nabbed at customs with dried fish and sausage stuffed down his boots. The fish and sausage was confiscated and he was fined.

Years ago, returning from Korea, the USA customs searched my wife’s suitcase, actually opened several sanitary napkins searching for drugs, money or jewelry. I told next time to save all her used ones and pack 'em for the customs pervs.

I can see what’s going on here. They’re gradually banning carriage of everything that could even potentially sound a bit like a threat. So the list of prohibited items gets longer and longer. All it takes is for some incompetent terrorists to fail to blow up a plane using a pre-prepared liquid, and - liquids are almost banned. What next, solids?

What I want to know is, why don’t they just ban people from planes? All those lighters and flick-knives and bottles of water will get on perfectly safely without those trouble-making bags of meat. Well, I guess they’ll think of it eventually.

I just got back from San Diego. I took the risk of bringing 5 bottles of mones with me in the little blue bottles and all i got was a card saying that they just randomly checked my luggage. No big deal. But on the way back 1 bottle broke  tuth :frowning: so i was pissed but that was my fault for not packing it as good as i did the first time around. I only took 4-5 sprays outta that bottle. Also a hint. Mark COLOGNE on each bubble wrap packaging if you do decide to travel with your mones.
