Blind test

Has anyone done a blind test - e.g. getting a family member or a friend to help a wearer apply a random product (without the wearer actually knowing which product was applied), and then monitoring and writing down effects? The wearer would subsequently correlate the observations with the actual product used. This could possibly get rid of a placebo effect?

Other option is for Androtics to issue unlabelled products to keen testers for blind reporting? :stuck_out_tongue:

its been on my mind to do something similar & thats to purchase a pheromone that I know nothing about (& also resisting the temptation to read up about it on the forum here lol) & test it out

I will be receiving four products in the next few days - ammo, a314, IJ, mx297. I propose to get four identical spray bottles and mix equivalent amount of each product with equal amount of parfume (Is this OK to do?). I will label each bottle with a product name, then sellotape over to hide it. Then the bottles will be shuffled and labelleded with numbers 1-4. Then I intend to use different quantities of single product at a time and observe results. After collating observations and determining any trends, I will try to predict which bottle contains which product, from studying product characteristics from the forum. With a bit of luck and skill, should get correct answers  To make task little more difficult, I could perhaps introduce a placebo bottle with parfume only

So you’re going to change the A314 into a spray? What do you mean by ‘parfume?’ Seems like it would have an effect on the efficiency of each product.

Well He’d need MX347 as the A314 substitute for validity of this blind test across the board. Parfum is basically perfume in different terms/ terminology.
Parfum in reality is the strongest strength of perfume/cologne the only thing being stronger being straight up high concentrated perfume oil.

Thanks  could Olfact Amorous please elaborate a bit more on the above validation?

Its not ok to mix it with perfume then compare it to results in the forum because members are not reporting on it mixed with perfume they are reporting on the untouched formula. Your altering the formula and the test is invalid and inconclusive.

I blind test all the time and have a group of people who are willing to test for me without knowing what the product is.

Androtics is blind testing when they give you a putative to use. You dont know what P83 really is for instance just what you read about it. It may not be blind to your point of view but it is for their research.

You could buy 4 or 5 bottles of different putatives. Wrap the same color construction paper around the bottles. Mix them all up in a bag and then reach in an pick one to test. Test it at all different dosages and environments. Take notes of anything you feel or notice in others and then look and see what putative it is.

Just dont alter the products when testing.

what an awesome idea!! :smiley::smiley:

thanks people - that is awesome idea. I am just facing one little problem - A314 and MX297 are packaged differently, and A314 is oil based product… hence hard to do blind test… Three products I have ordered are very well known - A314, IJ and Ammo, so for me as a novice in the field, the blind testing I was proposing was more for my benefit (learning how to test). I will put my thinking cap and see if I can still somehow do blind testing without modifying the product.

just got my mones for the first time - only two of them (tuth and IJ) have similar scents, all others are so markedly different that a blind test without cover parfume would be next to impossible

you got your ij & tuth today, i got my ij & tuth today (the tuth was a free gift travel size) do you think we had the same postie too? :stuck_out_tongue:

happy moning

LOL most likely - Jacob is da man

it would be a great pity to cover the scent of any of the five products I got today - love them all  so, at least for now, blind testing is “off” for me…

Has any other blind tests been done? Are the results on this site? I can’t help but think about the placebo effect too.

I’ve sprayed my friend with tuth without him knowing what it was and viewed the effects at a party, while remaining sober so I can catch all details accurately.
