Creed Selection Verte- An English Garden in the Bahamas

I honestly don’t remember who it was that was kind enough to introduce me to The Perfumed Court but thank you! I’ve had a blast trying out all sorts of colognes from there that I would never have otherwise given any time (largely because I didn’t want to lay out the cash for something I’d never wear).

So in honor of all the wonderful reviews I’ve seen here, I’ve decided to give my take on Creed’s Selection Verte. I know that I don’t have the nose that some of you do and I’m not nearly as eloquent so please bear with me.

‘A fresh, sophisticated citrus fragrance with light, clean notes of mandarin, lemon and bergamot combined with peppery mint and sweet pea.’ That is how the Creed official website describes the scent.

I would say that when I first sprayed it on it smelled much more of lime than lemon but it was a VERY strong blast of citrus that lasted about 20 minutes. Then it faded into the background but still made its presence known. From about 20 minutes to 2 hours it turned much more minty smelling. Finally at about 4-5 hours it smelled much more floral with a hint of the peppery smell there.

I asked a few people from my office complex what they thought of it and reviews were positive. Everyone thought it was a very light scent that a person could wear a lot of without it being offensive. This is definitely NOT a sillage monster. The scent stays close and when someone gets within a foot or two they get a nice hint of citrus mint combined with the sweet pea.

The quote in the title came from a woman who when asked what she thought of the scent said, ‘It reminds me of an English Garden in the Bahamas.’ She had gone on vacation there and apparently that was what the gardens smelled like at the old colonial estates.

Very pleasant, inoffensive scent that to me would be perfect for going to something like an outdoor orchestra concert (we have Ravinia near me for that sort of thing) or any other ‘cultured’ event over the summer. Very cool, very nice, but not for someone who really wants to stand out from the crowd. My 2 cents.

I love the Creed scents as most of them are of a high quality and can be worn by the majority without the scent been offensive. I have been exploring some niche fragrances and you have to be more careful in your choice. Creed are a safe bet and coming back to them I appreciate that all the more. A English garden in the Bahamas, I like the description.

When you have finished exploring Creed try Amouage house of fragrances. They have the same commitment to quality but much more exotic.

Awesome! Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll have to check out Amouge later today.

Selection Verte is great fragrance, I’ve been debating getting it for a while and would have already if it wasn’t part of the ‘private collection’.
Just recently I’ve been exploring 20+ creed samples and unfortunately (for my wallet) there aren’t many I dislike.
Which is quite remarkable considering my overly sensitive sense of smell.

I totally agree. I’d gotten a sample through The Perfumed Court and wore this a few times when I needed something elegant for a formal occasion. Everytime I wore it i got quite a few compliments.

I remember you saying that you were addicted to colognes and so am I, unfortunately for my wallet. I want Tobacco Vanille (the full bottle) so bad, but I will have to wait and work OT several more times before I can get that – I have other necessary expenses that I have to take care of first.

I am also going to get Original Vetiver next spring or whenever I see it cheap.

I am going to wear Amouage Jubilation closer to Christmas because that’s what it reminds me of.

I am hoping to be able to cover the new Ammo with all the colognes I have, otherwise, Ammo will have to go.
