First-Person Report On Other-Effects of Instant Shine
As I mentioned earlier in this journal, I ordered my wife a bottle of grapefruit Instant Shine as a Christmas present. We’re big kids, so we decided to open 1 present each last night! I got some nice wraparound earmuffs and she got the fruits of my latest scientific obsession ![]()
The upshot of this is that I had the opportunity to experience Instant Shine from the perspective of someone interacting with the person wearing it. To date, I still have not managed to notice any real effect from using IS on myself, and so I was feeling a little nervous about my gift. I wanted it to be a really cool thing, not just a nerdy social status placebo.
Dosage: 1x IS to the wrists
Setting: Home
Self-effects: None reported. I probed a little bit but didn’t want to be too annoying about it. She didn’t mention feeling any different. However, I did notice that she looked at least a little bit more relaxed, and began smiling more easily within 5 minutes of application.
Other-effects: Even though I was trying hard to be objective, I know that my observations are contaminated by my knowledge that she had applied the product and my expectations about what it is supposed to do. Still, a few minutes after application, I’ll be damned if she hadn’t taken on a bit of a glow! It’s tough to describe, she just looked a little bit healthier, happier, and even just a bit more attractive than she had a couple of minutes prior!
Range: I was right next to her upon last night’s application, so this morning when she applied the product again I tried to keep my distance and approach her gradually in order to gauge the range of effect. I’d say I was about 4 or 5 feet away when I noticed a slight difference in my perception of her.
Conclusion
This was a really cool experience to have, and was a bit of a prover for me to be able to feel the effects from this perspective. It also makes me somewhat more inclined to wear Instant Shine even though I have not been able to notice the effects. It doesn’t seem to change peoples’ behavior very dramatically, but it does seem to be a bit of a general image enhancer.
