I have been using anti-perspirant most of my life and I realized that it might be bad for my lymphatic (?) system and may retain my pheromone production.
Do you guys (especially thomaslovie, that I know has a very natural life style) can recommend me a deodorant with a good scent or scentless (i use parfum) that does not affect the pheromones produced in my armpits?
BrazilianGuy,
I agree with Lizzie, natural deodorant stones are great. I have a spray version, which doesnt have any scent and works great for the whole day.
Mones are emitted from every hair folicle on your body so while your blocking the pits the rest is still diffusing around. If you stink of Pit BO your not going to be attracting women or men IMO.
Go for it Lizzie, I had done that years ago and i am very happy with the results and the reduced risk of all that aluminium in the most of the deodorant sprays.
I agree brazilianguy that due to the warmth the bacteria that live on the sweat in the arm pits breed faster, and thats what is causing that odor.
my great grand parents and grand parents died of all the wives tales…
I for one brush with flouride and lather on mitchum anti perspirant (Google Search) . But if you feel better about doing something, give it a Go, the last thing i worry about is anti-perspirant.
yes…your armpits and, of course, pubic hair emit the most BO…and pheromones.
we all know, without question, first and foremost is good hygiene…and besides a shower, that includes diet.
diet REALLY influences the way you smell… your hair, the way your skin feels, even your breath.
eat lots of fresh veggies, fruits, whole grains, fish, skinless chicken and healthy oils.
lay off heavy animal fats, heavy dairy, sugar, sodas (the average soda contains about 12 tsp. of sugar!) and junk food… they do NOT do a body good and they really make you stink.
and water, drink lotsa water…you know the drill!
and, whenever you can, stay away from foods that have been treated with chemicals and pesticides.
your body doesn’t know how to rid itself of these toxic invaders!
i stopped using deodorant a long time ago…i don’t like using the chemicals…luckily, i’m not a very ‘stinky’ girl, lol.
but if i feel as though i absolutely need it, i’ll use the liquid mineral crystal.
also i usually swipe or spray a bit of perfume in my pits…it diffuses nicely with no underlying BO or stinkiness…
i don’t know if that would work as well for guys…anyway it works for me.
Well I know alot of women dont sweat much. I wish I was one of them LOL
I work out alot and believe me I wont let anyone near me till I hit the showers LOL. My diet can probably be better but I basically eat healthy most of the time.
I could probably get away with in the winter at work but in the summer I am sweating my a$$ off in the mail truck. It can get up to 120 degrees in there on a real hot day and I cant go without major coverage. LOL
Never used it, I will have to give it a try and see how I do. Where do you get yours ? Great post by the way Belle.
Bella great post there! I have been on that healthy route for more than 20 years. I still sweat, living in a very hot country during summer. The liquid mineral spray works like a charm for both myself and my wife. I could sleep with my nose on her armpit and would just be smelling nice natural pheros and not the nasty BO caused by the bacteria.
I realize this thread is a few months old but figured I would relate my experience.
I started using Naturally Fresh Deodorant Crystal Solid (I purchased it at CVS) about a week ago. I initially purchased it to use something more natural and unscented(ingredients: Natural Mineral Salts). I didn’t even know about pheromones and their possible interaction with deodorant/anti-perspirants - I’ve just recently found this website.
The results? So far, excellent. I exercise 4-5 times per week and I’ve had no problems. What I like best is the way it goes on. You simply wet the crystal and apply. It feels like you’re applying water and nothing else. Best of all, it leaves you with a neutral scent.
Hope this helps. If I find any negatives, I’ll be sure to post it here.
Deodorant should reduce the androstenone somewhat, depending on what is in it. So will the Thai sticks as they slow bacterial growth. It shouldn’t do anything to the other pheromones, though. I believe it works by bacteria eating androstenol, which is an alcohol, then excreting it as a ketone (androstenone). Anything that kills bacteria will hamper this process.
I use Thai sticks alot (actually the technical term is alum - because they are aluminum salts, they are also used by some for shaving/styptic purposes), and sometimes deodorant, just depends on the mood. Some deodorants like Speed Stick won’t actually stop “body odor” they just mask it, so this might be a better choice if you want natural androstenone.
It is all relatively trivial because most people now days bathe regularly. Yes, you’ll make a little more androstenone without deodarant, but not that much more. Personally, I cannot use denatured-alcohol-based deodorants, they give me a terrible rash/itch, but propylene glycol based deodorants are fine.
