Some slightly more interesting comments today. EDIT: What am I saying - I’m pretty sure I got a hit!
Applied 2 shots of ammo again, one to the mid chest-upper belly, one to the back of the neck. Two new female clients today, so I didn’t want to risk overdosing. My evidence is pretty weak that 3-4 shots the other day caused an OD, but I didn’t want to risk anything. I’ll do some testing later on to find my OD point for ammo (and independently for Turn Up The Heat I guess - the buffers should make a difference)
About 20 mins after this, the first of the new clients arrived. It was a completely stress- and nervousness- free meeting, and she seemed to be giving me a lot of respect while also treating me in a very familiar and friendly way.
Of course, I’ve never met her before, so there’s no way of being sure at this point how she would have been without the pheros. She claimed to be quite nervous and under pressure about improving her English (her adventure to the UK is on hold until she sorts it out), but after a while she seemed quite optimistic and happy about working with me, enthusiastically agreeing to all my suggestions (that’s one of the places I saw the respect).
Two points about familiarity. Not too long after she arrived, I asked her did she want something to drink, in Polish. Our communication been in Polish to that point, but that was the first time either of us had to unambiguously choose between a respectful or friendly mode of address (I’m sure people are familiar with this from Spanish, French and German. I’ll just say that it’s pretty strict in Poland). Obviously I chose the respectful form (no choice in such a situation, really), and her response was to look a bit uncomfortable and immediately switch to English - where of course such a distinction doesn’t exist (and which people here generally interpret as being ‘always familiar’). Interesting…
The other thing is that during her almost-continuous laughter and smiles (she was very relaxed), she kept on winking at me. This probably sounds quite weird. I have to say it’s a feature of body-language around here, and it gives a kind of joke-conspiracy flavour. But I’m not able to judge exactly what it might mean. My observation (from my ex-girlfriend) is the fathers tend to wink conspiratorially to their daughters (don’t know about sons), and the daughters do it to guys they meet. No idea about its role in flirtation.
Next meeting: A male client (not new!). The meeting was friendly and ok, but maybe not so productive. Hard to say why. No disaster, though.
Next I went to a friend of his, who had heard about me through him. I was terribly late thanks to various exciting but not-relevant to the point-at-hand events. Anyway, she was nonetheless very happy to see me, and just … incredibly friendly. This was an unusual meeting, as I had decided the meeting would be free for her: we hadn’t really communicated previously about the purpose and aim of our meetings. So this was just a sort of getting-to-know-each-other session, with some planning. For the first 30 mins we talked mostly about our meetings. She seemed very happy with everything.
We just chatted for the next half hour, and then I resolved to leave. It took me another 30 mins to manage to do that, in which time I was treated to donughts (it’s tłusty czwartek - fat Thursday!), offered tea (while trying to leave), while we chatted about things unrelated to the English language. It was really weird - apart from the first 30 mins, it was like an entirely social meeting. I’ve never had that happen so unambiguously before at a ‘business’ meeting. She was also definitely interested in me (not just milking me for English practice): I got the general feeling from her body language. I’m not so skilled at consciously reading this, but from her poses, glances, smiling etc, I felt there was something going on. The only thing I remember distinctly is that when I wrote something on my pad to show her, she’d lean along the sofa, trying to get ‘behind’ the pad (i.e. near me), before I even had a chance to stop writing and turn the pad to face her. Oh, one other thing: I guess this is a comfortable way of sitting for her, but she was sitting cross-legged on the sofa facing me, not using the sofa to support her, just sitting sideways on the sofa with a perfectly straight, unsupported back - pointing straight at me. I sometimes like to sit like this, but if I’m with a client I would almost certainly moderate it in some way, to seem less direct: point slightly away from them, look down more, lean back, release one leg from the crossing, whatever. It was a bit strange.
I can’t say it was definitely a sexual kind of interest, but she was just very happy that I was going to be helping her improve her English. Sometimes I noticed that we were chatting sort of pointlessly, because linguistic problems prevented full understanding - but it was still nice.
It didn’t feel at all like a ‘hit’ while I was there, but as soon as I left (and she had gone back into her apartment and closed her door - because she followed me out into the stairwell saying goodbye!) it just hit me.
We exchanged some text messages after (because I forgot to discuss one thing), and we’re both ‘looking forward to the next time’. I definitely am. Maybe this is an unworthy thought, but my first idea is… pheromone canary!
. OK, I have other unworthy thoughts, too, but I’ll keep them to myself - she is a client after all.
It’s sad really - all my female clients are so cute and friendly…
