Font and size when pasting text from Word?!

Ok, a seriously off-topic one. But this is driving me mad.

I do much of my full reports redaction in a MS Word clone called OpenOffice Writer. This way, I can write my texts at ease and edit them before finally posting them. And this ensures I don’t loose my work because of mishaps.

Trouble is, when I copy-paste my text in this forum, I get weird results as far as font types and size are concerned. I just can’t seem to find the correct font type and font size that this forum uses by default (like in this here message!). What are those parameters for this forum. And why is it that the font size numbers that this forum uses have nothing to do with either MS Word’s or OpenOffice’s Writer? I mean, those font sizes are quite universal (like 10, 12), but here, the system is like (1,2,3…) and no in-betweens. So in which font size / font type must I type my texts in Word to get standard and consistant results when they get pasted here?

Hope this all makes sense. Solution must be easy but I can’t seem to make it work. Tried Arial, Times New Roman, Verdana, 10, 11, 12… Nothing works. Tried converting them here to the same types sizes 2, 3, 4… Doesn’t work either.

Thanks y’all.

If you use Chrome (I don’t have Firefox and I hate IE/Edge, so I’m not sure about those), there’s a workaround. Right-click in the text area, and when the menu pops up, select the option marked “Paste as plain text”. This will do exactly that: paste it in the font you’re reading right now. Using the “Paste” option will result in copying the text formatting along with the content, which you said you didn’t want.

Or you can just write everything in Notepad, which doesn’t have any formatting options to begin with. In which case, “Paste” or “Paste as plain text” will work the same way.

Thanks man, I’ll try this out for sure!

It works . I used that successfully with my last post. Thanks so much. Works only with Chrome though, not Firefox. But I don’t mind. It’s great. Thanks for saving me from madness!

I do the same- with openoffice as well and it converts my quotes to question marks!

Yes, the workaround I found for that is to use two successive apostrophes instead of the quote symbols. It works fine that way.
