A lot of these download sites have multiple servers. If you have a fast connection and the download is particularly slow, stop the download and reconnect and start the download over again. You might get “round robined” to a faster server.
its not the speed its the queue
and for the speed a download manager helps alot for example orbetdownloader
if you frequently download from rs, megaupload, any of those types of hosts, try jdownloader. rs i mainly use for ebooks, but a lot of unique music is on megaupload or hotfile. with jdownloader, i can throw the links into the program and it’ll download automatically, sometimes even skipping that 45-90 second wait time for server queue or getting a better speed.
