Well, let’s see… two of the more inexpensive designer scents that i like to wear clubbing are A*men Pure Malt (which i believe you have) and Burberry London. The latter, to me, kind of smells like manly spice cake, if you can begin to imagine that…
Now, to my nose YSL M7 smells a lot like Burberry London, but with less emphasis on the sweet side and more on the leather. It’s a good scent, but costs more, so it’s up you whether it’s worth the extra buck(s).
One that i like, but most men probably won’t, is Tom Ford Black Orchid. It’s not very manly, but is a great blend of floral scents without it being too girly either. And you’d be amazed at how often i got a compliment on being unique and different from the rest while wearing it. Now, there is a Voile de Fleurs version which has something added to it… white musk, maybe? Don’t get that one, it is definitely girly smelling. As a matter of fact, i bought it for my girl.
I’d give By Kilian’s Straight to Heaven and A Taste of Heaven a chance. Not everyone will like them, but they seem to be an interesting blend of green and gourmet notes, which i enjoy.
Hope that helped some! That’s about all i’ve got for now, since i still have like 10 samples i haven’t even had a chance to open yet, plus i’m still saving for college. No reason to get all scented up when you just go work outdoors for 8 hours and sweat it off within an hour.
I love this one one of my favorites…only need 2 sprays…and is one of my longest lasting perfumes no jokes will last a good 36 hours unless you take a shower LOL - only bad thing not great for summer - very heavy
Some other recommendations:
Straight to Heaven by Killian - I bought the new travel kit to save money only $70 compared to a $225 bottle
Bond no. 9 - Riverside Dr. - masculine, ladies love it and last about 12 hours
Bond no. 9 - Coney island
Bond no. 9 Bleecker St
Those are my favorites from the Bond house..
and I can list some more but I am tired and going to bed…
you will not find it anywhere but Sak’s 5th Ave, or Bergderf goodman, it is exclusive, it is not like the creed’s where you can get it at discount sites
I lucked out and bought mine in a split at basenotes and got mine for $100, you can also get them in 8.3 ounces for $450, but then people take it and divide the price among people and split it so it comes out cheaper then buying it
I actually have an offical creed sample sitting here in front of me…never tried it since I know it was for women’s but now I am curious what it smells like
it is not bad at all…reminds me of a drink, let me let this drydown then i will give my thoughts
actually i own one women’s perfume called kenzo L’elephant
and i have sampled many women’s perfume and have tempted to purchase them for example Bond lexington ave
for example Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille is labeled as women’s, but I consider it unisex
I was this close to buying Tom ford Black orchid, but it was too potent, the sillage was massive, I mean one spray and people can smell me down the hallway
Now some I will smell and say no way right away, and can tell it is very feminine, but others which are very unisex it all depends on your skin chemistry.
Majority of people who smell you have no idea what you are wearing anyway, so unless you tell them it is a women’s perfume they will not know.
Has anyone ever tried Michael Kors cologne as I have been wanting to get some tobacco colognes that do not cost the earth. But reading some of the reviews on basenotes it seems this one is a bit of a monster in regards to strength and totally overpowering. Just wondering what your thoughts are on this cologne if you have tried it.
The only cologne that has made me ill is Muglers Angel, I had a tester and I gave myself a few good sprays late one night. And I got that reflex in my gut you know the one you get before you are sick. And I had to rush to the bathroom to wash it off. Then when I went to bed I could still smell it and I had to have a shower at 2.00am in the morning.
I have to say its the only cologne that I have smelled that is truly vile and disgusting. It smells of dark syrupy coffee with liquorice candy. And it has won loads of awards on basenotes that I cannot understand. I would rather go back in time and wear Brut or old spice than Muglers Angel. Lol Anyway thats my rant over with.
Yep … have a M Kors Michael I’ll sell you right now.
Already had SDV + TFord TV + one other and just don’t need it.
I’m just not that crazy about it when compared to the other two.
Comparatively it IS pretty strong but not necessarily overpowering.
Just not as smooth as I wanted
Thanks for the offer SCoupe but I am going to hold fire until i make up my mind if I want to go for that particular one. I will let you know if I decide to go for it.
I second the Dolce & Gabbana and if you like that, sniff Hererra for Men (Carolina Hererra).
Both are good and I feel they can be worn day/night office or going out.
These I like but feel they are possibly a bit complex and might be evening only:
Trussardi L’Uomo - Very nice, I think this has been around a long time
Dia by Amouage - This is really nice. I have never never never had so many compliments
Boucheron for Men - complex, sophisticated and feel I need to be wearing a suit to out it on.
There are a lot of nice scents out there and not to sound like as ass, I avoid the really really popular ones. I don’t want to go out in dressed the same as someone and I don’t want to smell like everyone else. I used to like CK one, but everyone wore it!
Oh, warning the Dia is like $250, as are all the Amouage scents. Grab a tester from the Perfumed Court.
