I didn’t see a thread like this here, so here is a mini tutorial on mixing ExperiMones for fun (& maybe) profit. To quote Johnny-5 (Short Circuit) “I need input.”
If this should be in another part of the forum, would someone please move it?![]()
A big value add here for the experimenter is that Michael & Co have provided is with an incredible phero chemistry set that we can actually use. The quality and the accuracy of the Androtics products is exceptional. Each of the test or putative molecular solutions has, on their labels, total phero content WITH volume. If you take one of Catlord’s mixes, you can extrapolate the amount and ratios of the pheros in each spray. As you understand how the sprays/drops that you apply affect others, you can determine how you might want to mix stronger concentrations to match the effect. Guessing can be fun, but putting some engineering science behind the SWAG reduces the waste. ![]()
I am hoping to get responses as to diffusion rates (low, medium, high) of putatives and experimones so that highly diffusive molecules can be separated from lower diffusive molecules. The reason behind this is that “sticky” molecules like a-none could be grouped together and a “touch up” spray of the more highly diffusive molecules can be used without running the risk of an OD.
I also am hoping for more discussion of DPG (fixative) and the scents available in the AD store and how they modify dispersion rates.
I’ll start out with the math that I am using to keep track of my concentrations. It is pretty basic, but I’m putting it here as a starter anyway. I run these calculations in excel spreadsheets.
The conversions I am currently using:
1 spray = 0.15ml
1 drop (DPG “oil”) = 0.076ml (about half a spray)
For example, a 1:1:1 mix of TAL-15/TAH-30/TAF-10 sprays will give you 5/10/3.33mcg per spray or 33.3/66.7/22.2mcg per ml.
With a little practice and some simple lab gear you can easily turn TAL-30 into almost any concentration with the various diluents that you can get when ordering bottles from the store.
The DPG and alcohol based fragrances have been mixing well for me and I can easily use things like molecule A (in either the spray TAA or oil forms) in any mix.
You don’t have the phero concentrates from the Instant line of the experimental mixes, but by using the same methodology it is relatively easy to figure out how to doctor a given mix to behave in a single application mode similar to what you layer. I usually use double strength versions of Instant Openness/IS or Instant Honesty in mixes or use the oil based products to doctor small amounts of spray to keep the ratios in the ballpark of what I am trying to achieve.
