need some help, what to do.

well a good friend of mine tried to commit suicide yesterday, she been beat her whole life by father, but she is a very good person.

anyways what im looking for is how do you try to help them? she been my best friend for 8+ years.

anyways this how it happend she sent me txt said tell everybody i love them, bye, i love you. i txt her back no reply, so call her about hour later she finally answered, but she couldnt talk was mumbling bad, took me about 20 minutes to understand where she at,
when got there took a while longer to find her, laying in bushes, pissed in her pants, 5 different prescription pills for other ppl around her, i thought she was dead. well i woke her up but she couldn’t move, or talk, picked her up and carried her up a huge hill, and took her to the ER.

anyways what do you do for someone like that? how do you help them? and of course she doesn’t think she has a problem and doesn’t think she needs professional help.
do ya just stick it out try be there for her?
it just killing me inside. outside i solid as a rock.

You need to do everything you can to reduce pain. People turn to suicide when they cant physically cope with the pain anymore. You must also become someone she can talk to. Listen to her. Let her know that she is not alone. Do not leave her alone. Urge professional help. Persistence and patience may be needed to seek, engage and continue with as many options as possible. In any referral situation, let the person know you care and want to maintain contact.

sorry to hear, in state of NY, and i would think all over when brought to an ER after an attempted suicide, they will not release them on their own, usually transferred to the psych ward for evaluation and can take a few weeks
