It recently hit me that I need some new fragrances. I’ve used the following in the past.
Fierce by Abercrombie and Fitch (great, if half the other guys in the school wore it)
Aqua di Gio (way too common)
Unforgivable by Sean Jean (OK.)
Cool Water (apparently it smells like cigarette smoke)
Curve (smells funny)
Curve Connect (I like this one)
I want something that’s new and not very common. Something that smells good, but stands out. I was thinking about ordering the Amouage sample set, and seeing what I like out of that, but the normal fragrances are too expensive.
That’s the rub. What smells good to one person, another might not like at all. Especially if you want a fragrance that is less common.
The mainstream scents have been worked to the point using traditional rules that it’s very rare you’ll find a scent that is truely unique, and doesn’t at the same time smell like a random potpourri of confusion. Nevertheless, there are alot of scents out there you have not tried, there is no substitute for actually trying a fragrance out. I recommend Basenotes.net for reviews of fragrances. Also, don’t confine yourself necessarily to just expensive fragrances.
