Ok, guys.
We have something like 10 new frags to test now. Maybe even a couple more, if we release everything we’ve received recently.
We have actual production quantities of 5 new fragrances. 3 for men, 2 for women. 4 for men were sent in, but I had to reject one of the batches. It didn’t come out right, and I really don’t want to release anything substandard here.
From now on, fragrances will receive #s to speed up the testing process, without undue psychological attachment. Much the same way as we currently test pheromone molecules.
Names like “Ammo” and “Game” will be reserved for product identities only. Their scents may occasionally change, until we find a “perfect fit”. i.e., scents that are congruent to both the name and it’s related design goals. Ones that not only smell good to the users and their target audiences, but also help promote pheromonal diffusion in a well metered manner.
Future Forward. While some of the new frags are nice and non-offensive, we’ve yet to receive the fragrances I’ve most looked forward to. The ones I personally want to smell the most are formulas the perfumers have “shelved” (placed aside) because they’ve felt they’re too costly or too unusual for typical department store brands.
Remember when we helped save basenotes.net from closing a few years ago? Well then, you know how strongly we feel about supporting a niche fragrance industry. I think many here who appreciate niche or artisanal fragrances will likely feel the same as me. I’m sure you’ll want to see what perfumers have hidden away as well.
From here to there. I have to get the fragrances shipped over from our development office to the shipping office in LA. Expect to see these next week. We’ll likely give sample aways for free in outgoing orders to “reporter” level clients, in small 2 or 2.5 spray atomizers.
Any tests that include a pheromonal component will likely incur a cost, due to the much higher costs involved with pheromone molecules.
Also important to note: The fragrance we’ve called the “Game” scent is almost gone, and I’m not sure I’m going to renew it. It’s great for diffusion, and it’s so “clean” smelling it hides androstenone odors very well.
It’s good on a technical basis, however, too many people has displayed displeasure with the scent itself. Expect to see one of the 3 men’s scents we have in for testing to become the newest Ammo scent within the next 7 to 12 days.
Old MXs dependent on deprecated fragrance packages will be renumbered as new. Well liked MXs that that use the the old “Game” scent, will be remade with a new fragrance or diffusion package, and will receive a brand new MX number. Remember, any time a major component changes in a mix, the MX # changes, too.
Same thing with the pseudo-commercial products (the ones with brushed aluminum labels). Every time a major component changes, either intentionally or out of necessity, they will receive at least a minor version number change.
