Nootropics - Anybody ever tried?

Bacopa monnieri, ginkgo, ashwaganda, ginseng..

The best thing I’ve found was modafinil, but apparently they are illegal without prescription in the states. Got a lot of A’s on exams with this stuff.

I’ve been seriously considering buying some Modafinil; my results with Noopept aren’t as profound as I hoped they would be. Could you summarise the effects you had, both positive & negative briefly?

When I would take it, about 30 minutes into it, I would feel a burst of energy. I would feel totally motivated to get things done, even ones that weren’t necessary or ones I dreaded. My appetite would be shot for most of the day, but sleep wasn’t always impaired - sometimes it was and I needed some sort of downer. I sweat more though, and they aroma wasn’t very pleasant but I wouldn’t say it was off putting.. I would however be very oil by the end of the day.

Focus was superb and memory was too.
One problem I had though was I guess increased motility which made me feel like I needed to use the bathroom a lot, both to irinate and defecate. Very frequently. If I are with the pill, I may or may not feel sick, so I tried to always do on an empty stomach or eat an hour or so prior or after.
I felt a good mood for the majority of the day. But depression usually kicked in after consecutive use.. I found it was best to take days off in between.

Ejaculation time increased - meaning I would ejaculate much faster than usual, but my libido do go up however.

The effects were very similar to methamphetamine… But a lot less worse on the negative effects (I.e. Loss of sleep, appetite)

I would also say there was some shrinkage in the downstairs department. Similar to after swimming in cold water.

All and all, I find it good for days when one is too exhausted or trying to study or take exams… Other than that, I wouldn’t want to use it on a regular basis.
But for the cognitive and mental effects, I would give a high rating, the highest among anything else I’ve ever tried.

I have a bottle of Alpha Brain by Onnit. This stuff defiantly works but isn’t mind blowing either. I used it when I needed a little boost… first dates, trivia games, etc. I seemed a little bit sharper but not blown away.

I was once blown away with the following recipe. I worked in a health vitamin store in college and would experiment with things. I did this for six months and was blown away with the result. Omega 3 fish oils, Lecithin, and phosphatidylserine. After six months I had instant recall…not smarter at learning but could recall just about anything I knew. I first noticed it one night playing scategories with my family. I literally would pick up the pencil, write down every answer with out skipping one, set the penile down with time to spare. Even my family noticed. Not sure if thats a Nootropic but along that line.

If you’re a male I would suggest lecithin and phosphatidylserine from a sunflower source but at the time I was poor and did the cheap soy ones. These three products are always very available and very cheap. Its something that might be good to take for overall wellness.

anyone try getsmart? please report back

I’m afraid not. I’ve just looked through the list of ingredients and it does seem to contain some good stuff, though I wouldn’t be sure for certain whether they would have enough medical evidence to say whether the long term effects would be good or bad

For the money, I would suggest Noopept to start with. It cost me ?13 for around 500 days. The suggested dosage is absolutely tiny; the scoop is ridiculously small!

I’m thinking of going with good ol’ piracetam for a while to see how that works out.

I’ve noticed both creatine monohydrate and cod liver oil both seem to work well at helping cognition and memory recall.
