P86 is known for its beautifying effects. When you wear it, the people around you look more attractive and the wearer seems to appear more attractive to the people around him or her. This effect has been noticed by many observers. I believe I was the first to call attention to this effect. Wildflower calls P86 the crush pheromone. P86 definitely has more sensual and attractant qualities than just the “Shallow Hal” or “Instant Airbrush” effect.
Sedation as an unwanted P86 effect
One of the problems with P86 is that many people find it has a sedating quality on themselves and sometimes people around them. Not everybody experiences this. I definitely do. But it’s worth it. I just drink a double latte before using P86. This, however, is no solution insofar as P86 affects people around the wearer.
In a bedroom setting, where P86 enhances intimacy, I have not found the “sedating” effect to be a problem. P86 creates a relaxing effect which is totally appropriate for lounging around the bedroom with one’s lover. I have not found the effects of P86 to strongly encourage sleep, just relaxation. It definitely depresses any sense of vigilance. If one wishes to transition to or from dinner or a club, the sedating effect of P86 is a problem, “Quick, waiter, a strong cup of coffee, before my date decides I’m feeble minded!”
Most of my attempts to find another pheromone which balances the sedating qualities of P86 have failed. When I have found a stimulating pheromone to counteract the sedating effect of P86, it has tended to counteract the desirable effects of P86 as well. P84 is an example of this. Lor found that TAL eliminates the tiredness she otherwise feels with P86, but, of course, TAL (especially for a man, but also for a woman) is going to significantly alter the direction of the mix rather than simply balance the sedation effect.
Diane999 described a mix which she says causes no sedation in herself or others around her. The mix contained a small amount of P103 (a smaller amount than I have found to be effective) and a large amount (far more than seems to be the consensus optimum) of P80. Diane attributed the lack of sedation to the P80. At one point she actually claimed P103 was sedating. That seems to be a very rare reaction to P103. If anyone else is having that reaction to P103 please report! Many people report a “rush” when they apply P103.
P103 fixes P86
I have come to the conclusion, recently, that P103 is the ideal solution to the sedation side-effect of P86. I am now trying to determine the perfect ratio of P103 to P86. It seems that about 50-60% as much P103 as P86 works best. If I wear 50mcg P86, I want between 25 and 30mcg of P103.
As a child, I had a facial tic that concerned my parents greatly. It still kicks up occasionally in social situations where I feel nervous, not usually if I’m wearing A314. If I wear P103 with P86 in a 3:4 ratio, I am overly energized and the nervous tic starts working my face overtime, even if I am wearing A314.
Below 50% the P103 does not overcome the sedating effects of P86. I decanted some P103 and P86 into goto bottles and went to the supermarket to cruise the aisles slowly. I began with 50mcg P86 and every couple of aisles added 6.25mcg P103. At 25mcg I was very comfortable, at 31.25mcg I was quite energized and alert. At higher doses people were irritating; their very damned existence just really pissed me off!!
I went out drinking one evening wearing 25mcg P103 and 50mcg P86 (1:2). I was comfortable, not sleepy, but not quite as alert as I would have preferred to have been, after a couple of beers. I wound up popping a Vivarin which I had strategically carried as backup. On another evening I wore 37.5mcg P103 with 50mcg P86 (3:4). I had a good time but that nervous twitch was working my face and I was restless and overwrought. On a third evening I wore 31.25mcg P103 with 50mcg P86 (5:8), and that was just about right. The beautifying effects of P86 shown through without any tiredness or excessive nervous energy.
One of the things I was reminded of during these experiments is that P86 seems to take about a half an hour to reach its full effect, whereas P103 starts off with an immediate rush. A good mix with P103 and P86 starts off energized and then mellows into a nice P86 glow. I generally like consistency, but I think this progression is kind of nice for a social event.
Speculation on how P103 works with P86
One of the theories on why P86 causes a feeling of tiredness or a crash is that it depletes neurotransmitters. I tend to be biased against this analysis simply because I believe an organ so delicately balanced and elaborately biologically protected as the brain should require an intervention by Big Pharma to get thrown that outta whack. When someone reports that they don’t crash from P86 until many hours after application, it does, however, add credence to the notion that something in the nature of a depletion is taking place.
My own experience is that the calming qualities of P86 begin almost immediately, not hours later, after some neural resource is exhausted. The effect deepens over a period of minutes, possibly as adrenaline levels stabilize at a lower level. I am more inclined to think of P86 as shifting the balance of the autonomic nervous system away from the sympathetic and toward the parasympathetic. To meet the demands of the modern world, many of us rely on stress-response adrenaline to keep going. Those are the ones of us who experience a tiredness or even a crash when it is withdrawn. It is, however, necessary to soothe the “fight or flight” response in order to see the beauty in our fellow human beings.
P103 energizes without stoking the flames of competition and vigilance. It does not seem to be a sympathetic nervous system stimulant. I would have to guess it somehow increases motivation via dopamine pathways. I previously described P103 as delivering a feeling “that a great load has been lifted from my shoulders”. For that reason, I called it a disinhibitor. It felt that something was already there which was released. Other times it is just a good stimulant. Whatever the case, the energy from P103 reminds me of deprenyl, which I take for its life extension effects and which raises dopamine levels. Jedi has described appetite suppression from P103 which is also something that can be attributed to increased dopamine. Dopamine inhibiting drugs are sometimes successful in controlling tic disorders.
Perhaps someone with a better neurochemistry background can post an elaboration on D2 and other types of dopamine receptors.
Additional P86 combinations and ratios
P86 is a wonderful pheromone. Without exercise, weight loss, make up or new clothes, it makes you more attractive. Without beer goggles, it makes your mate more attractive. But P86 is not complete. Like a centerfold, it lacks depth or passion. Like a delicate flower, its beauty can be destroyed or even deteriorate into the yuck of wet garbage.
P86 needs other pheromones to work well, and it needs some of them in very exact quantities, lest all be lost. Below I describe the pheromones and ratios I have found work well with P86.
P103: As discussed above, a 1:2 ratio of P103 to P86 balances out the sedative qualities of P86. A ratio of 5:8 (e.g. 31.25mcg P103 to 50mcg P86) gives a more upbeat, energized mix. I find more P103 than that creates to much “nervous energy”.
P82: P82 is a marvelous pheromone, easily the most underrated of the putatives and one of my favorites. When using P103 at the higher end of the suggested range, I find that a small amount of P82 soothes the irritability that a little to much P103 might cause. P82, unfortunately, requires large amounts (maybe 50-100mcg) to create significant effects, so when I say a small amount, for this application, I mean something like 12.5mcg.
P83: MadisonTate, an earlier proponent of P86 than myself, recommended a ratio of 3-5:1 of P86 to P83. I am always cautious with P83 because I know it can amplify fear as well as attraction, and I want to make sure it is well guided. I like P86, so I tend to prefer the higher P86 end of the range, maybe 50mcg P86 with 10mcg P83.
P87: Tater and I have both noticed that, as well as beautifying, P86 can, on rare occasions, bring out the “yucky”. Sometimes P86 can be down right depressing. On the best of occasions, P86 has a shallow, two-dimensional quality. It’s the “dumb blond” of pheromones. P87 solves all these problems. It gives depth and positive direction to a mix. A P86 mix with P87 is a quantum leap above a P86 mix without P87, if and only if you get the proportions right!
Recipes for fudge often include a pinch of salt. Well, if a pinch of salt is good, a couple of tablespoons should be much better. Right? Hell, why be a cheapskate? If you’re gonna use two cups of sugar, why not two cups of salt. Damn good fudge, right? Wrong, dumbass. Excuse me for venting, but certain people keep ragging on P87 without ever bothering to try it in reasonable amounts. In my experienced the proper ratio of P87 to P86 is 1:5. I like 10mcg P87 with 50mcg P86. If you’re only gonna use 25mcg of P86 then please give 5mcg of P87 a chance, before you start complaining about how reptilian cold P87 is. There is a difference between putting an ice cube in your drink and stepping nude out of the shower into a deep freeze. Only one microgram too much of P87 will take the delicate flower of P86, throw it on the floor and stomp on it. Put it in a vase, give it to your girlfriend and see how well that works!
I like this quote from Wildflower on 20mcg P87:
And this one from Sillykitty on 12.5 mcg P87:
If what is described in the above quotes is what you are looking for then forget about P86 completely and save some money. But if you want to add an impressive depth to the “pink clouds” of P86, just a little bit of P87 makes a profound difference. Just a microgram too much and the P87 completely and totally overwhelms the P86. You might as well just pour the P86 down the toilet. I always use at least five times as much P86 as P87.
MEO-EST: At a MeoEst to P86 ratio of about 1:5, MeoEst adds a moist, warm glow to the appearance of another person’s skin. I find, with the 50mcg of P86 I like to use, that much over 12.5mcg of MeoEst imposes a cold pale glare, which detracts more than it appeals.
P80: Several people have reported that 7.5mcg is the optimum amount of P80. I concur. It energizes the beauty of P86 with desire.
IH: I haven’t found any rigid ratios for this one. It is worth mentioning because it can very much strengthen the bond put in place by the “crush pheromone” P86. Use with caution.
