Packing pheros for a flight: getting past security without leaks or embarrassment

Did fly a 1 hour domestic flight within australia, put about 8 different togo bottles in my toiletery bag in my checked luggage and had no problems.

No wait, my half a bottle of Mx103 leaked down to 2 sprays worth. That even after I taped up all the togo bottles where the screw on sprayer meets the bottle. All the others were ok though, and my toiletery bag stunk of something horrid for the rest of the trip. No doubt though I wasn’t happy to have lost half a togo worth of Mx103, but I guess that’s the risk you take with the pheromone bottles when you travel with them.

I see… ii think whast ill do is take the pheros put them in a big piece of buble wrap and then roll it up and rolle that up into some paper towel and put that in a ziplog bag to prevent leakage and breaking..as for the security thing ill just put that into the luggage and check that in first thing so it goes on the conveyer and ill forget about it until i have to claim it back wheni arrive .. then ill pray before opening that nothing broke and nothing leaked…i cant even imagine how bad the smell would be..

Never carry the entire friggen mothership while traveling. They’re glass, break easily, will leak and are bulky. Place a small amount in a quality atomizer, e.g., Sephora. These are difficult to break, are small & pocketable and rarely leak. Meanwhile your main stash is safe at home…

Jeez yes, don’t carry the glass. Even if you don’t have an atomizer, fill the 5ml to-go tubes that we all use.

Lay down a piece of kitchen plastic wrap and a couple paper towels. Find an eye dropper at a drugstore. Use alcohol to wash out the to-go bottle and then the eye dropper when you are finished. When you finish, roll the plastic wrap up in a ball and you’re good to go.

That way you won’t need to worry about anything breaking. You are on the right track with paper towels in the zip-lock. Any leaks are contained.

Unlike the passenger cabin, down in the cargo hold it is not pressurized. Inside your bottle is ground level air pressure. In the cargo hold is a lower air pressure. Usually no problem. Every once in a while, one of these pumps has a check valve that doesn’t seat or a weak spring. When you get one these weak pumps, it will suck the fluid out into the low pressure area. As long as it’s in the baggie theres no prob. Eh?

I’ve also used old togos for travel but found many leak–50%–in transport while in checked baggage. Not nearly as robust as a quality atomizer but certainly better than bring the glass fleet aboard. I’ve had such good luck with Sephora atomizers I don’t bother with leaky togos anymore. Yeah, a good atomizer is $8 but still way cheaper than draining a togo or two into your suitcase.

I have had leaky To Gos too but the last set seem to do pretty well.

The leaky To Go bottle issue was resolved a while back. This was caused due to my supplier using a less expensive foreign source to cut corners. Once I brought the issue to their attention the issue was remedied and thus eliminated the leaking bottles.
