We’re rolling out hot-rodded room diffusers soon, masquerading as common air fresheners. Ousts with gusto.

Why Ousts?

We’re perfectly capable of buying cheap, unbranded diffusers from China. It’d save us some money, but I figured this would be even more “low-key”.

More incognito.

AKA – Sneaky!

We’ve tested these at some stores and restaurants, and we’ve never received reports of anyone suspecting that’s why they feel so darn good.

“It’s just an Oust”, they must think (if they think anything about it at all)

But it’s not.

It’s your secret.

I’m thinking of offering 3 products in room diffuser format to start:

Instant Openness (mostly alpha nol)
Instant Honesty (mostly beta nol)
and
Instant Shine (mostly TAA)

Combos would be nice, too. I figure 1:1 Instant Openness to Instant Shine and another one with 3:3:1 Instant Openness:Instant Honesty:Instant Shine.

Details aren’t completely finalized for the shop versions, but I think these will be 12,000mcg total pheromone to start. They should last a minimum of 20 days if left on continuously.

Our previous testers weren’t nearly as educated or on the ball as you guys, so I’m really looking forward of getting some of these hotrodded Ousts into your hands. I know your feedback will be killer!

damn, i got blue screen of death’d during my last response but anyway, while i can’t remember the name, i’m sure someone here remembers the articles that were popular online a month or two ago regarding an inhaled version of of a chemical similar in nature to MDMA.

that would make for a very exciting pherobomb.

i seriously wish i had a place/opportunity to try one of these now.
i’ll be living and working in a pretty solitary environment soon enough and won’t have many opportunities. would love to try one out.

Something makes me think Mharris would like to make the world’s largest Pherobomb to make entire cities in a good humor; where almost everyone is pleasant to be around.

I remembered MHarris’s comment about using an Oust fan as a mones dispenser a while back, and I just picked one up yesterday to play with (on sale and I had a $2 coupon!) and was wondering what it would take to convert the refill thingie to dispense pheromones (like your Spaceland).

I was impressed by the fact it appears to be very quiet and quite unobtrusive. Something you probably wouldn’t notice. Perfect for those “stealth” applications. Was even thinking of asking if Androtics was considering either a dispenser of their own or coming up with some sort of “near universal” refill bottle. Question seems to have been answered.

Maybe you could also offer empty refill bottles as well as the individual products so we could create our own mixes?? And possibly add our own “cover fragrances.”

This sounds like fun!

Very beneficial to some businesses, but it’s tough to talk them into it if you use the words “pheromones”.

Then the proprietors thoughts all turn to sex, and they think it’s only appropriate when they have singles shop or are dining or what have you. (Some stores are aware of their “singles crowd” – Blockbuster has experimented with playing certain romantic music and releasing sensual scents during the hours when singles shops)

Unfortunately, it’s better to frame it as something other than pheromones. Even aromatherapy.

I think mention of “pheromones” is what killed off Enhanced Air Technologies, which was marketing pheromone diffusion systems to casinos and other establishments.

That reminds me…

You should see how many sales trainers ask us about dating when we approach them about trying A314. Even “celebrity sales trainers” (ones that have written books or are otherwise well known) start telling us how they’d love to get more gates, get married, etc. People you’d think would have enough of a vested interested in their topic to take a minute to discover that pheromones are excellent general persuasion tools, not just dating and sex aids.

Need to load it up with A1 and put it into a household of PMSing women.

they were similar to smelling salts i think. i know it was on several major web sites. damn, wish i could think of the name but shouldn’t be too hard to google it, will try after a few…

It would actually be far easier to do some of the above if I did buy standard, unbranded diffusers. I’ve run into a few of them.

The advantage of the Oust is that, let’s say someone liked the smell of it… or you run into one of those people who haven’t really looked at one of these “little roon fans” yet in detail that they’re “starting to see everywhere”.

They may want to see if it’s a Glade or other brand of air freshener so they can “get one for themselves”.

If anyone takes a closer look or asks you about it, you can immediately “Oust” their curiosity. With the Oust logo right on it, the answer is immediate, and their curiosity satisfied. It’s very stealth.

If it’s some weird brand, and it’s NOT in a restaurant or store, you’re going to get far more questions. It’s common for restaurants and stores to use unrecognizable, professional fragrance diffusers, but not individuals.

The units themselves do work well. The fans are indeed quiet (as you pointed out), and more powerful than most competitive units. They also use a larger power source than competing brands.

It’s good. The best brand I’ve found so far to “go stealth with”. (If you find a better one let me know)

You can always single yourself out with your behavior, especially because only you will know. They’ll still be far more receptive to you.

I don’t know if I mentioned this before, but I do intend to pursue heavier marketing routes for the “feel good” pheromones.

As I get older and younger (<– notice the NLP ), I can’t stand all the grumpy people.

I don’t understand why, as people approach death, the masses of people out there tend to get progressively more sourpussed. Frankly, I become more childlike and a little less serious. We have only so many days to live (a little more than 25,000 on average), and I for one, don’t want to waste them being upset.

Even if you have “good reasons” to be upset, you still have a limited number of days. It’s ridiculous to be upset for longer than absolutely necessary… maybe a few minutes.

When something annoying happens for a minute (or even less than a minute) and then someone declares “Man, that just RUINED MY WHOLE DAY” and they commit to that, and make it true, I don’t think anything could be more dumb. It’s like spitting in your own face. It’s a disservice to yourself.

So yeah, as you might imagine, I wouldn’t making whole cities a little friendlier and happier!

I think some of the friendlier, more elated feeling pheromones actually help to put life back on track. Help return people to more of a purpose. A better purpose, anyway. I know the purpose of life can’t be to walk around grumpy and unfriendly. I’m certain of that!

ok, google helped me find the sex chemical thing i was referring to but forgetting the name of, it’s called PT-141. apparently it is in phase 3 FDA clinical trials and blah blah blah. i don’t speak science, so i stopped there lol. the article pretty much lost me after they stopped saying sex every third or fourth word.

I remember reading/hearing about how some businesses (like casinos) used scent diffusers to “enhance” customer mood. And like bakeries routing the odor from the bread ovens to catch passers-by and lure them in. No doubt may have heard about it or read about it in one of those many many freebie trade magazines I got when I had my business going.

I think the “Oust” name is only seen on the refill bottle. Didn’t notice it on the fan unit itself. That may not be a real problem anyway. If someone didn’t see the brand name they were “expecting” they might assume you were using a “generic” refill. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I was noticing that like most all of the air freshener things, the initial “output” of scent is pretty strong, which got me to thinking that maybe it might be an idea to use a chunk of thin plastic tubing or something over the refill’s diffuser “stick” as a way of regulating the output. You could cut it shorter to give a bigger “dose” or use a longer one to keep it low-key.

Update: It’s been a couple of days since I “activated” the Oust fan, and the scent is detectable everywhere in my 2-story 8-room abode. Wish there was an easy way to tone it down or otherwise regulate it. Gets so strong in places it bothers my eyes. (Came with the “outdoor” scent.)

Going to have to look into that “tubing over the diffuser wand” regulator I was considering.

Another thought. I haven’t tried opening the “refill” bottle yet, but what is the possibility of having an “additive” you could just pour into an already existing (new) scent refill? Do you think that would be possible, or would the Oust scent oil zap the pheromone additives into uselessness? That way at least it would still “smell” as one might expect and be none the wiser to the “stealth” ingredients.

(I keep wanting to shout “Oust damn spot, Oust I say…”. Sorry Mrs. Macbeth)

They even put fragrances in the packaging of frozen foods now with PolyIFF technology. (I don’t smell 'em, honestly, but industry articles say they’re there, so…)

Right, it’s on the refill. The only thing identifiable about the fan itself is the shape.

Normally, I don’t worry spray or drop products themselves being “outed”. I guess you could say I have a personal paranoia, though, about pheromonal air diffusers being identified.

If found out, it would seem to invite more hostility than merely wearing something on your person.

Then again, with Openness and Shine versions, what would anyone have to be angry about?

People do sometimes make the complaint “You’re just doing that to make me feel good”, and they could do that if you blasted them with Openness and Shine, too.

When that phrase is used with actual anger in the voice, it’s ludicrous. It’s so stupid, it’s comical.

I’ve never known why some people get angry over others conspiring to make them feel good. I mean, come… seriously!

At least it’s easy to counter. You can say something like:

“Well, yeah… of course I’m just doing that to make you feel good! Why not? Feeling good is good!”

If they argue with you over that, they’re not worth being around.

Yes, it’s very effective. Best cheap diffuser I’ve found, in a number of ways.

The “Air Whick” one and some of the no-name Chinese variations were particularly pathetic.

Good idea, as long as there’s nothing reactive in the original package.

Of course, it does sort of contradict your own personal statement about not liking and even physically abreacting to the default Oust scent package, but it’s still a great idea.

There’d have to be very little diluent, though, to make it “fit” in terms of liquid volume. It’s a little messy, but that would be OK with some people.

Also, with the microshaking that all people’s hands exhibit, there may be a couple people who accidentally shake a little concentrate onto them.

Not a big deal with Openness or Shine equivalencies, but did a -none add-in, such an overdose would be horrific.

I’ll consider it, especially if others pipe up and request it.

The scent is okay. I’m not really big on those “cover” scents anyway. It was the least obnoxious one on the shelf to my nose. And it seems that over time as the oil depletes and/or I get used to the scent I don’t react as badly as I do in the first few days or so. (I’m hardly noticing it today for example.)

I just wish it was a lttle less “intense.” A milder more subtle fragarence would be preferable, in fact maybe better. Maybe the neroli you use would be fine. I can see some party attendies or housemates getting so overwhelmed by the intesity of the “standard” fragarence out of the Oust refill that they quietly turn the fan off and there goes your plan (aft gang alay…). Less scent could be better than too much scent.

Or even “alternate” scents we can use to mix products in. Like maybe sandelwood, lemon, lavender, or others with “aphrodesiac” affects…

The “standard off the shelf” choices from the freshener makers often turn me off. P-U
