Photosonix is a light/sound “mind machine”
They strongly advise against using any form of flashing light stimualtion where there is a possibility of seizure disorder. In my own use, the flashing lights we’re overstimulating. This defeated the purpose of entering into a “smooth flow” state. So I put the goggles into a box and forgot about them. All I do is select the progam I want, put on the headphones, adjust the audio volume, and lie back.
You clearly have kids with significant problems that require a multi-modal therapy and lifestyle response. The tough, realistic fact of life is that once the brain structurally “set in place” during the early months of life, no after the fact treatement will cause the brain to reconstruct itself as a normal brain.
Superior teachers, coaches, therapists can absolutely help the child to make the best possible adaptation to normal life, and nutritional/dietary and environmental changes (like detecting potent allergens and removing them, IF they are a problem), as well as good psychological counseling for the parents, who will need exceptional coping skills to deal with the added stress…
There are blood testing laboratories who claim to have observed abnormalities (such as a balance between copper bearing proteins and zinc), or the presence of high level immunuoglobulins for certain grain proteins… Great Plains Diagnostics Laboratory was offering these tests some years ago and now appear to be out of business with no other references to autism and copper metallothein protein are on the web…
From that I infer that there was a flurry of interest in the copper/zinc theory that was later disproved (at least for now, who knows, it may come back in a new form later)… but for a while desperate parents were ordering expensive blood tests hoping that they’d found the magic button… didn’t seem to work that way in practice…
There is one laboratory that has earned long term respect in nutritional testing… they do not and never have claimed any special understanding of autism… they do excel at seeing into the deep layers of nutritional metabolism and uncovering hidden problems that no other known test can…

I think, depending on your economic situation, that some basic nutritional testing would be a good idea, not that it would relieve the fundamental problem, but rather that there might be a cluster of issues that present as autism, and some metabolic problems might (or might not) be a component, perhaps a minor component, perhaps a major one, of the totality of the disorder.
