Puget Sound hotspots?

Hey all… I’ve seen a few members here are from the Seattle and surrounding areas, and was wondering if any of you knew what the lounge scene is like. I’m not sure if I want to do the whole high-energy club thing, since I’m kinda out of that age bracket. Of those types, I know of Venom and The War Room, but those seem to attract the younger, just-became-legal-to-drink types, and I hear TWR is a hipster hangout.

I’d like to hit up something a little more … well, I guess the word I’m looking for is “mature”. I’m no senior citizen, but I’d be a fish out of water at the local dance joints. I just need to get out and socialize more, but I never explored the social scene in the area in all the time I’ve lived up here.

Thanks!

As far as I know, the lounges that were popular for a red hot minit a couple of years ago have closed.
Try Neumos, I can’t say for sure, but they have some good live acts over summer (:open_mouth:summer?! seattle???!! ahahahaha) and it is a spot to go to - or has been in the past. GOOD LUCK with finding social seattlites.

Thanks. I’ll have to check it out.

Yeah, I’m all too aware of the Freeze. It’s so crazy. I moved up here from Georgia where you could have impromptu half hour conversations with people you just met on the street. Up here, just saying “Hi” to someone you pass gets anywhere from a suspicious look and a picked up pace to actually crossing the street to get away from you.

I imagine when the music scene up here was big in the 90’s, it was probably a little more social friendly. I moved up in '03 and it’s always been like it is now to me.

Read the Stranger and the Seattle Weekly - they have the best info on what’s going on in Seattle and the surrounding area. Keep an eye on the big music festivals - the Gorge is a blast! Seriously, tho’ this place has some of the best music events - of anywhere! Bumbershoot is a 3 day event as I’m sure you know and can be attended for 1, 2, or all 3 days. Don’t kid yourself, the music scene is huge here and does span all demographix. I’m gonna be hangin in SoDo when U2 plays the stadium. I saw them in Oz while in college and would’ve loved to be able to get tickets - you know how that goes - but my car at the time, ate it.
