Well, tonight didn’t quite go as expected. Yes we got back to mine but instead of a romantic evening together, we found my tumble-dryer had shorted out and it was a close-run thing to finding the entire house a blazing ruin!
So instead she did spend the entire evening helping me clean-up. Still my keeping my cool and deploying perfunctory electrical firefighting skills did seem to impress her significantly and she was pretty thrilled/appreciative.
Now I have a much more pressing problem - I have incinerated just about all of my socks and underpants for work next week I only have the couple of “thousand-wash grey” pairs that were lurking at the back of the wardrobe and a couple of “christmas present” pairs of pants (ie you could camp in them!) - and oh, all my lovely, comfy and bloody expensive merino socks are gone!
Am I the only one who feels a sensation from Hedione on my skin?
It sort of like a burning feeling, like a menthol burning.. But only seems to happen once I sweat at the application point.
If you’re talking like 25 or 33% hedione in perfumer’s alcohol, I used get that burning feeling too. Not even mentioning the horrid alcohol volatile vapors, which I describe as inhaling sawdust. That’s why I either dab it pure now, or dilute it in FCO.
I’ve been off the forum for a while. Just poked my head in and discovered this thread. Thanks to all of you that have posted your experiences and sources. This has inspired me to acquire some hedione and try it in some mixes.
Anyone who is Androstadienone sensitive finding any depression or lethargy ever with the use of any dose of Hedione or a high hedione cologne like Acqua Di Gio?
Some new research above indicates Hedione increases cooperation and reciprocity, has some social and arousal properties such as releasing sex hormones, and even activates similar brain patterns as Androstadienone. Also Alpha Androstenol in that other study caused activation of a portion of the hypothalamus, which according to animal data mediates the pheromone triggered mating behavior as well as had effects on Luteinizing Hormone which increases sex drive in both females and males. And its another that apparently hits the brain in a pattern similar to Androstadienone and to the man made Hedione.
I found women get more aroused and want to have sex more with A1, and they even get angry and bitchy if they want sex and you dont give it to them, perhaps the motivation part of the limbic brain activation. Several women have also recently confirmed this and with various A1 blends, not just sexual ones. They also do talk more about past events. Androstadienone I posted elsewhere was the secret ingredient of a small amount in NPA.
Hedione is a ‘signature scent’ that activates the portion of a womans brain in the limbic system, which is associated with emotions, memory and drive. It activated a specific area of the hypothalamus in women more strongly then in men. The activation pattern is typical for sexual hormone release. It turns women on.. It was able to buffer strong sexual mixes and take off their harder edge similar to Alpha Androstenol or something like Androstadienone or EST. In this part it is more neutral in its effects gender wise. I found it raised mood in everyone and it lowered inhibitions.
ADG cologne contains Hedione CIS and standard Hedione in a 2:1 ratio, in comparison the 1966 Eau Sauvage was around 2% standard Hedione.. The Hedione CIS gives enhanced booster effects such as a more intense richer scent with more impact of the scent on others then the standard. Its a bit less floral however and a bit more of a citrus smell then standard so they are sometimes combined for perfumery purposes. The diffusion on things its combined with is much higher also due to its higher CIS content.
I’ve still been playing with thefragranceshop version of the 1966 Eau Sauvage original, its called 1024 there. I bought the 2 ounce spritz and added 1 sample oil to it as someone recommended to me. It contains Jasmine. With their other scents such as Aventus you may have to add 3 sample oils to get the scent stronger using the spritz. After a few weeks of sitting the longevity increases its probably due to them selling so fast the products arent sitting long. Its still super cheap ($10 for the 2 ounce spritz, $6 for oil samples) compared to full colognes. The newest Sauvage that is a bit closer to the original then the 2012 one isnt readily available in the USA.
----One mone vendor is removing hedione, because hedione is decreasing the effectiveness of mones. He had just thought it was a universal enhancer at that time since it had so many great features, but it just requires the right mix as with any pheromones since it has buffering/social properties.
Compared with a placebo, jasmine oil caused significant increases of physical signs of arousal such as breathing rate, body temperature, blood oxygen saturation, and systolic and diastolic blood pressure in a study done on healthy adult women.
Subjects in the jasmine oil group also rated themselves as more alert and more vigorous than subjects in the control group. The study results indicate that jasmine oil can increase autonomic arousal activity and help elevate mood at the same time.
I see no mentions of depression, in fact in most it mentions only its benefits against depression as a mood lifter and benefits anxiety… So if hopefully it doesnt have any negative effect on those who are already Androstadienone sensitive then we have a candidate of this or hedione for something to use in blends regularly, keeping in mind its going to have some social like buffering effects that need to be balanced which wasnt taken into account in the past and just made a few blends too social. Anyone who is A1 sensitive please try…
I am currently trying just Bee & Flower Jasmine Soap instead of the oil and that alone so far seems to give lots of looks and iois by itself, and seems to stick around all day so far taking a shower only once in AM… I’ll have to compare to thefragranceshop version of the 1966 Eau Sauvage original which has jasmine also by itself before I start using these with blends…
I can’t remember if I’ve said it on the thread already but one of the things I’ve noticed most with good quality natural Jasmine oil is the intense, dreamy, almost pliant state it can induce in subjects - And to a certain degree as self effects. Although being aware, you can take steps to keep a frame of mind to control these.
So it could be that it is more of a mood promoter rather than lifter and you need to be taking steps to set the mood and drive it forward - with pheros and/or behaviour. And you want to avoid bad moods/downers as it could be liable to make matters worse.
So for that reason I tend to use Jasmine most in situations where an intense/physical and emotionally connecting atmosphere is likely to be present - As opposed to Hedione, which promotes a broader, more generally social/sociable response, which probably makes it useful in wider day to day situations.
Using Ambergris as a fixative also seems to help take it up a step - These two bring something very powerful to your phero combinations but I wouldn’t like to work whilst wearing them. This is best kept for after.
And you don’t need much of it - good natural Jasmine is a very strong scent indeed.
