review of some scents from TCS

finally got my package. it was resent because the first one was lost, or never sent, or whatever. i got burberry weekend, rocawear 9ix (pronounced “ninety nine”), and green irish tweed.

burberry weekend (my pick)
this one is right up my alley: fresh, citrusy, crisp but not to the point of “you smell like lemon-scented dusting spray.” i put some on over residual game and it fused perfectly. i think my current targets and hits who enjoy game will enjoy this new addition just in time for spring. the good thing about TCS, and i guess what their profit model is based on, is that this top/base note is all i need. this is a great way to try out new scents or replace some old ones with just the bare essentials at a much cheaper price. props to whoever originally noticed this company.

rocawear 9ix
a bit of high hopes for this one. my first experience with it was one of those pullouts in a magazine. that thing smelled nice. modern, fresh, clean-cut young man’s scent. when i put on the roll-on, it smelled exactly the same, and i was pleased that i now had even more scent options to use in covering pheros. however, once it dried down, the scent completely changed. kind of woody, kind of musky… like somebody found an old log in the forest, cut off a slice, and taped it to my face. if you like this type of scent, this is perfect for you. nice combo of modern and musky. for me though, it just didn’t work out. i almost had to scrub it off so that the people around me who are used to me wearing light scents didn’t get the musk confused with body odor or something. i gave it the old college try.

green irish tweed
got this one mainly to see what the big business is. in a chance happening of events, i was walking through the mall a few days before the package came and some lady said “hi, would you like to try some fragrances from creed?” i usually don’t listen so i politely said “oh, no thanks” and kept walking. then something clicked in my head and i whirled around and asked “wait, do you have green irish tweed?” the lady seemed kinda surprised that originally i seemed uninterested and now i’m naming a specific fragrance. i put on one light spray on my wrists and rubbed them together. topnote was ok, very manly; i can see why all the old greats wore it. the lady started her sales pitch (“well, if you’d like to try it out, we have the one ounce bottle for only $122” :open_mouth:) and i said i’d walk around the mall for a bit, let it dry down, and then see what it smells like. now the lady was really surprised that i knew what i was talking about, but really i just wanted to get out of the sales situation. drydown was ok as well, i think it went into a deeper manly scent. maybe when i get older i’ll consider a change of scent; for right now i’ll save $122 and pass.

the roll-on had roughly the same smell. i forgot who mentioned it (data4?) but i read something about a target not enjoying the scent at first, and then 10-15 minutes later, said it “smelled like sex.” that’s about right. still not for me, but unlike the rocawear bottle that will sit on my shelf or be given away, i might pull this one out occasionally, possibly for an interview or something where i want to give off an older, more mature vibe.

yikes, that’s nuts. i bought 1 oz of GIT for $60 something at the mall. I talked him down a little bit though, and I feel I still got ripped off.

That seems about right actually, if I remember correctly, my 1 once bottle was $108, only slightly cheaper.

geez… not knocking it, just saying it’s definitely for true aficionados. it’s like buying a fine wine or car, certainly worth the money but not for everyone.

I just paid $140 for an authentic 4 oz Green Irish tweed from Fragrance net needed a refill…

no way I will pay retail prices

no reason to, the markups are criminal. a penny saved is a penny earned.

I say we raid this guy’s Creed collection!

I’ll join you Mikoto …I want some Creed Green Irish Tweed haha :o. Geez this guy’s stash is insane. Some of those are probably limited edition too.

now that is a nice creed collection

It is! Man, lucky guy.

I just smelled a sample of Virgin Island Water and wow, it smells like Pina Colada! Not sure if it’s for me, but it might be very refreshing at the beach! Next up, Bois du Portugal!

I like Virgin Island Water myself…and was doing a toss up between Bond no. 9 Coney Island and Virgin island water…I went with Coney island…it won me in the end, it is like Virgin Island without the cocunut

funny you mention Bois du Portugal…I am sampling that myself today, it is very heavy, my first impressions seem to be for someone much older and it is very powerful but not sure yet still in my first hour

i am also sampling Royal Scottish Lavender on my other hand…I like this one better I think not sure will gave my thoughts later on

ok an update Bois Du Portugal drydown is fantastic…it has some sort of vanilla-amber and sandalwood but it is not as powerful and is toned down and I love it

Still not sure though if it is bottle worthy

I do not like the opening as much I like it more after the first hour or so
