riddle I can't figure out

If three cats catch three mice in three minutes, how many cats would be needed to catch 100 mice in 100 minutes?

simple google would tell u its 3

Yep. If three cats catch three mice in three minutes, then they simply catch 1 mouse a minute. 100 mice in 100 minutes is the same mouse catching rate, so just keep the same number of cats.

I like cats.

I like mice too. They taste good.

Your in a boat in a small lake where you can see the shoreline. Your holding a 10 lb rock and decide to throw it overboard. Would the shorline move towards you or away from you?

Doesn’t that require actually throwing it – not just deciding? And the direction of the toss would need to be known, and can you see the whole shoreline?

are nice.
I think mice
are rats.” :stuck_out_tongue:

No need to make it complicated. The only trickery I used was giving a weight weight, it’s irrelevent.

A train is heading North at 65 MPH. Its 172 miles outside of Washington D.C. with a wind speed variance of 1.239 mph coming out of the West. A windborn swallow (African) is flying at 17 mph heading south on a direct course with the train. The swallow is 13 miles directly to the south of Washington D.C. How many miles will it take before the train collides with the little bird thus splattering it on its windshield like an over-sized bug?

Other variables to consider: Its hunting season, there is a typhoon forming in the pacific ocean, gasoline prices have increased considerably, its a passenger train operated by Amtrak, its an African swallow, my favorite color is red.

Of course weight is irrelevant. Direction, however, would not be.

In the event of such collision, which body will experience more force, the swallow, or the train?

Neither? The weight of you and the rock in the boat have already displaced the water. So when you throw the rock in (assuming it happens infinitely fast lol or that you lower the rock in the water) the volume you and the boat displace is lower but is offset by the rock assuming it isn’t hollow. I think. Maybe.

It’ll never make it far enough to hit the swallow.

The answer to the riddle is 42. Because its the answer to everything!

Actually, it depends how hard you throw it…the boat will drift in the same direction after you fall over the other side. :stuck_out_tongue:
