What would you peoples say to a Seperate Forum dedicated to Putatives, MXs, & Experimones? I for one would like to see it.
Do you mean a protected section like A314? I personally would like it, but Androtics should consider how much business comes from customers seeing the discussion about experimental items. Perhaps the forum could be read-only?
On the other hand, Tater doesnt meet the 1-year experience criteria either and Tisha just barely. The excitement with the SmartMones dies down after a while so any separation would change the feel of the forum.
I am finding that hard for me to vote on this one.
I think a seperate thread that indicates on it that these products are for advanced users only and cant be purchased or tested by new members until they have the years experience will be enough. Not a whole seperate forum though.
This way new people can explore and learn and gain some experience so they can move up to that level. If they are not serious about mones then they wont stick around that long and this will weed out the serious and experienced from the people just trying to pick up the girl/guy next door.
I tend to not worry about false reports so that people can move up to the advanced level faster. It will take alot of detailed reporting to do that. Plus they will only be reporting on consumer products and androtics already knows what those can do.
Whatever Jas decides thats what I will abide by. Shes a smart lady. I am sure she will work things out.
I guess my vote will be NO for a seperate forum but YES for a seperate forum section.

“YES for a seperate forum section”
I voted NO. It’s not that everyone with more than one year experience regularly posts about MXs and Putatives
Hint…nbul

Many new users have posted very useful information and brought forth lots of insights!
Although longer experience with pheros does make people more cued in to subtle reactions but that doesn’t mean that new users cannot be as socially aware without having tried pheromones.
What can be done is…decide on an appropriate price point and if possible give discounts to experienced users who are known to make valuable contributions.
But making a separate forum changes the feel of the forum. Also if you just want to mention an MX or putative used in conjunction with a mainstream product then should you start a new thread in the other forum or..?? Too confusing.
Good Idea
Tater would like to see a separate section for journals rather than discussions, especially if the journals could only be posted to by the person creating the journal. That would be something like the phero-blog concept but not as much work to search for information.
I dont make the forum posting cut but i will make the advanced cut. I believe my first order here was in November but I am not sure. I do love the stuff here enough to wait it out and work for it if I have to. I have been using pheromones for a couple of years though.
Hey Tater did you see these ? Love Potion Magickal Perfumerie Got to get you some Pheroboy. Guess where its RUMORED they got the pheromones that go in it.
Just speculation, rumor, guess, but if its true I am sure they bought theres way way before the move because I know its takes along time for them to brew there potions up.
Tisha
Hey Tate thats a great idea.
I am writing my own journal and i will post it soon too.
And i think the forum needs a little separation..(Journals, MX-Putatives Tests… stuff like that)
Tater is looking forward to idles journal. Where do i sign up for the debut showing?
Congrats to Tisha for being the first person with 1000 rep points!!!
Who pushed you over the edge? How long until Tisha Ten Thousand?
Love the journal idea! I wonder whatever happened to Jasmin’s and Swingermd’s blog. Why was it taken down?
I like the idea of an Advanced section open to everyone. If a newbie posted about Instant Shine in there, they could just move the thread to the appropriate section.
Thats what the free pheromone blog at the top of the page is for. People just dont use it enough. Then you put your blog addy in your sig like Nbully does. I have all my favorite blogs in a favorite folder so i dont need to run around looking for them.
I think they never caught on and alot of people didnt look at them. If you dont post in them I think the company takes the down after a while.
The idea sounds cool if it’s just a separate section. A separate section would help keeping the forums organized, clean, and neat. Ultimately, a newbie could get around easier, even though the search function as always does wonders.
Regardless, if the suggestion is about a private forum just like A314, I for one do not think that would be a great idea. Not only would it hold back inexperienced newcomers but also odds aren’t in the favor of that private forum of being filled with that much activity. Once separate accesses and permissisions are set the overall activity of the forums takes a significant hit because of the restrictions.
Nevertheless, it would also affect search engine rankings (by excluding traffic from google bots, search engine spiders bots) due to the lack of specific keywords since many of knowledgeable reports, journals, posts, and discussion threads about putatives, MXs, and other experimental pheromones and molecules are jam-packed with dozens of keywords and thus we can call it “keyword rich” content.
Ultimately, does it really matter how a potential further customer arrives here or to the Androtics Online shop? Not really. The ending is more important than the journey here. As a result, I think that settings up private forums with restrictions to the “general public” will not be a great idea from a marketing (advertisement) and SEO point of view.
Furthermore, like I mentioned in my first two paragraphs, I would significantly hold back further customers from researching and learning. We can learn a lot from the experiences and feedback of others. Oh, and there is a risk, no matter how slight one, that once those private sections are added, the community of these forums takes a hit because X might not be qualified to access it, as well as Y that’s a quite respected and reputated user does not has the eligible permissions either, and sum these up, link them together, and there’s a slight possibility that it might turn into negative results at the end.
All in all, in my humble forum newbie opinion I’d vote a definite Yes for separate sections for Putatives, MXs, and Experimentals, because that’s akin to more organized forums where the valuable information is stored neatly, but keep in mind that this would require a lot of hard work if it was to be applied retroactively too (moving older threads, sorting those out, etc.). Needless to say, if the case is about creating separate private forums where specific restrictions would be applied, and if we’re voting for this then I’m sorry but my vote goes for the No.
Either way, I think that the decision of limiting newcomers only to the Instant Series and particular others (A314, Ammo, etc.) is a great one. It is completely understandable and totally makes sense, and therefore we should support Androtics by giving our best and acting with common sense. The journey that’s necessary for a newcomer to walk through is not only fun but also could be considered as an initiation out of which both parts benefit and most importantly the science of researching pheromones, too.
Regards.
…but i like being able to search in one place. I would never attempt to catch up with 50-60 blogs on pheros that have their own links. 50-60 threads, where i can easily see whats new and scan for a particular product or topic makes sense though.
The right tool for the right job. Blogs only make sense when an individual has many types of information to publish. Otherwise, theres no value-add beyond what a forum like this brings to the table.
Thats why Tater suggests a section that is read-only for newcomers. Also, about the whole newcomer thing. Why not make it rep point based or something similar? If you get, say, 120 rep points, you get access to the advanced section. There are only a few regular users who have less than 120 and most of them are close. Then make it so that new users have very few rep points to give away (adjust their rep power to stay at 1 until that many). Maybe brand new users should have 0 rep points until they get to 30 or so.
The good thing about this is its self-adjusting. People who dont contribute wont get rep points. I have trouble getting rep points myself and i have trouble getting reps.
I scanned the vBulletin online manual and all this stuff is quite easy to set up.
Being older and more experienced doesn’t necessarily make your comments more insightful or meaningful than a younger less experienced user. I’m against an insider forum and refuse to participate in the “closed door” sessions for A314, although I like the product.
If they truly want to separate the wheat from the chaff a written test would be far more telling of phero qualifications than mere years of experience. Nevertheless I think an open forum serves both the advancement of knowledge and Androtic’s commercial goals better than closed doors.
I think rep points are often given based on popularity, cuteness and to a lessor extent for valuable contributions. Also an unpopular opinion or feud can yield negative rep points. I hope this forum steers clear of free such silliness. After all a forum by nature should be a place for free exchange of ideas. Realize too many forum “noobs” are far more experienced and knowledgeable mone users than most of the forum members. Heck, some are product designers! They merely weren’t members of this forum.
I didn’t word it as such but no. It would be a seperate open forum section. Looks like it’s 50/50 for and against as of right now. Shit. I spoke to soon. 8 for & 7 against.
A Separate forum might make it easier to find information on these products, but it should definitely not be password-protected like the A314 forum…
Tater’s idea for separate journal forum is smart. Maybe we should vote on that too!
