So what about STD's and all the news about it being on the rise

So yeah I’m pretty liberty minded and lean toward wanting a great long term match, kids n all… But also want more social improvement, read: dates just be an even better man to women, be a solid alpha great sexy guy blah blah

But of course disease is bad, and its hard to tell what a good course of action is, mentally, physically and morally /spiritually. Opinions? My view is I take a critical view of religion / the bible meaning I don’t throw it out but really dig hard into the original text languages and consider the context of history, purpose and path of the human species. Law and order appeal to me but so does liberty and enjoymentof life and our bodies.

And this has what exactly to do with pheros?

Lounge thread surely!

I put it there initially, all for it going back if that is more appropriate. I thought it sounded pretty heavy of a topic to put there after the fact. Need muy feedback.

Good times, I moved it down to the lounge.

I am not sure what the question is.

Do you want us to answer how we feel about STD’s ? I pretty much think everyone feels the same. We dont want to get them.

Can you clarify ?

Tish

Yes. It’s a big question and I’ve found it difficult to get good info/feedback. If you were to do a web search on STD’s in the US, etc. you basically will see that “1 in 5 Americans has an STD” and lots of media outlets writing about HPV as it’s the big up-and-coming one… and that 1 in 4 teenage girls has an STD… Condoms don’t do much of anything to prevent infection… 25+ STD’s out there when before the sexual revolution there were only 3…

Now, in our culture we’re dealing with change / the aftermath of change, going mostly from traditional morals to something new. The “something new” seems to be lacking some guidelines or there are several competing sets of guidelines, and of course the government does what it thinks needs to be done, via the CDC to see a change in numbers they don’t like.

(1) So are the stats reliable or not? If reliable are STD’s vastly more prevalent in say people who have just “let themselves go” in reckless gang cultures, low income communities where sex is just like any other drug, so the nasty side affects are part of the territory.

(2) How can I talk to real people about their experience with STD’s whether first hand or someone they know. Forums are a good start, but I understand not everyone wants to share that, even on a Forum.

(3) The Spiritual Aspect. When studied closely, what I see is the bible does not forbid non-marital sex… (OT and NT) but then again, the prevalent behavior was marriage for everyone because they were mandated to have lots of kids and grow in population fast. I bring up the bible because it is the most ubiquitous source in western culture. Didn’t want to get into too big of a debate on that, but the question is: Many people are on different spiritual planes regarding mainly, their realization of action and consequence / karma / etc. As a serious seeker of goodness, truth and beauty, what can I expect if I have flings? I’ve seen people say if they tricked someone, they usually feel guilt.

I also consider, seriously, external spiritual attachments if there is overindulgence (in anything really). A lot of sources, both old and new seem to point to that - an energy thing, an “overshadowing possession” but again, biblical sources never explicitly blame this on non-adulterous sexual activity. They’re just there. Shamanic practitioners acknowledge the power of sex and things that can happen spiritually. Thoughts on that? Out there I know, but I’ve experienced enough spiritual things both by myself and confirmed between myself and another to know there is some reality there.

Thanks

While STDS do not discriminate I would have to say that yes they are more prevalent to people who indulge in reckless behavior. However people of all cultures and income levels can indulge in reckless behavior. The CDC gets its info from clinics all over the country. So it would seem that its low income areas however since that is where they compile most there statistics from it only makes it appear that its coming from the low income individuals. Rich people get STDs to they just see private doctors.

So it has nothing to do really with being in a gang or being of low income. It has to do with the “reckless behavior” part.

I am not entirely in agreement with info presented on the Human papilloma viruse and many doctors are not. Yes it can be transmitted though mucus membranes so it can be transmitted during sex but a strong immune system kills it off. It can also be transmitted by lack of hygiene though. Most males tend to hold there members when they pee. If they dont wash with soap and water then shake the hand of another person can spread that way as well.

I advised against my boys getting the vaccine. I dont have girls so I cant say if I would of in there case. Women tend to get more reproductive cancers then men that are deadly so I would have to consider it.

Frankly I believe a stronger way to avoid it is keeping the immune system high and that HPV is related to low immune due to the misuse of antibiotics in our country. Thats my personal opinion though.

As far as condoms not working to prevent STD’s, Its not that they dont work for that purpose. Used correctly they do help prevent transmission. Problem is most people dont use them correctly.

That I cant answer. Your right many people wont share this info even on a forum. Maybe there is a STD’s forum though. I never checked but they have them for everything else so I wouldn’t be surprised. You could always open one yourself.

Frankly it has little to do with the bible but on your own personal moral compass and beliefs. The bible was written by men and pertains to the times in which they lived. Its not something I care to debate either. The only reason I mention it is that basically, to many individuals its a guide to whats right and wrong.

We are all born will innate knowledge of the difference between right and wrong, we dont need to read it in a book. So if your path is truth, goodness and beauty and you trick people in any aspect your bound to feel guilt. Using pheromones is not really tricking someone. They will not make people do or feel anything they do not want to do or can not feel. They influence people to notice and act on what they do feel.

If your asking us whether you will feel guilt if you have flings we cant answer that question. Only you can but seeing as that you asked it to begin with my guess is you would feel some guilt if you treated that person badly or unfairly.

Sex can be very spiritual with the right partner. That is not to say that you should feel guilt if you do not connect on that level with a sexual partner though or that you should not have sex unless your spiritually connected.

We all know whats innately right and wrong but we all also have our own compass within that polarity. Flings may be something that pushes your personal compass more towards wrong depending on your beliefs and makes you feel guilt but as long as its consensual and the partners respect each other feelings and are honest in there intentions then in my opinion its not wrong.

Tish

Thanks Trish. Yes I agree on your points. Particularly on reckless behavior, the perception is skewed toward the “untouchables” even in our culture.

The immune system point is key, too. Western diets / food chemicals / pharmaceuticals throw us into havoc. I think I will have to ponder this based on wisdom than data, because even in the lofty books published by medical experts on the “quiet epidemic” will I be able to see flaws in the methods? Also I know that corners are cut everywhere if expedient to get the Govt to write that paycheck. Accuracy can suffer.

My main goal is to understand what is good/allowed/encouraged for human sexuality not just for me but for all people. Like, if sex outside of a marriage (assuming consensual, not lying and cheating) is so bad, why no dire warnings or voiced regrets from deathbeds? Having been burned by religion, I want to live again and save others from Neo-pythagorean “the body is dirty” beliefs. Which AREN’T ancient Hebraic beliefs. I’ve found I’m a lightworker, one who had to be “embedded” in modern religion for a while before being ready to work to restore our Creator’s design intent for us to be happy and well.

That question really cant be answered because what is right for one person may not be for another. Keep in mind whats good, bad. right and wrong and whats accepted, allowed and encouraged is not the same thing.

For instance… If two people in a sexual relationship both agree to having sexual relationships with others and the people they have those sexual relationships with are aware (your not lying to them or misleading them) then its not wrong for those people involved. Now my moral code would balk at that because both my husband and I committed to sexual monogamy but that doesn’t mean the other people are wrong. It just means thats what feels right to us. I don’t judge others for that unless they are misleading or hurting others.

Historically all these interpretations and rules that structured religions have adopted were designed to control peoples behavior before we had structured government. It had little to do with right and wrong on a spiritual level and more to do with governing and controlling the population. Religions leaders were always advisers to the Rulers. If the ruler got pissed off about something soon it became a sin.

Tisha

And sometimes they WERE the rulers.

And what I meant by what is good/accepted/encouraged, is not as far as human authorities are concerned but by what the First Cause is concerned with. The Producer of reality, law, ethics, and love.

The innate sense of right and wrong is the meat and potatoes of it. Sensitivity and respect is also a component. I think what the First Cause wants is for us not to be suppressed, which is what I experienced.

First Cause ? I am assuming you use this as a phrase like others use “god” ?

I use source energy myself or divine energy. However in conversation with some people I will refer to god because they are comfortable with that.

My opinion, it doesnt want anything for us, we direct that energy with our thoughts, beliefs and actions, the energy flows according to our influence and without that influence its just energy. Wanting is a human condition.

There is no only one right way to live.
