Is anyone having trouble giving thanks or rep points? I upgraded from IE 6 to IE 8 beta the other day and started having more probs with the pherotalk 2.0 than before. I’ve also tried Firefox and seem to have the same trouble with rep points or thank yous.
And quick reply or edit doesn’t work but advanced reply does. ![]()

This is a “quick reply” - I know this works, cos I did it today.
Edit: yep, editing is fine too
I have Firefox 3.0.4 - all seems to be in working order. Hmmm, dunno…
OK, so reps, thanks and quick replies are probably some sort of AJAX-type affair, which in essence means you don’t have to refresh the page for the results to appear. A full reply involves going to another page and then, when your reply is submitted, going to your reply, but the page has in effect been “refreshed” because you have been away from it in the advanced editor. If that makes sense!
I wonder if it’s something to do with that?
IDK, the quick reply or edit both give me a “You do not have permission to do this please refresh the page and login” response. Of course if you aren’t logged in you don’t see the reply box so that doesn’t make sense at all. Rep does the same thing in IE8 but does nothing in Firefox. With Thanks the button disappears when I hit it but the thanks do not appear in the post. If I refresh the page the thanks button comes back.
Just opened Firefox version 3.0.4 and trying a quick reply. Will also try reooing you and thanking someone, and editing.
Back in a minute
I repped you and saw your reputation increase, so that worked. Then I thanked ntk and that worked, and if this edit appears, all seems fine in Firefox
My Firefox is an old version too so I’ll update asap.
If have have any of the add-ons you will probably lose a couple, but 3.0 seems to load faster and use less resources, so I’d say it’s worth it.
All seems fine in Google Chrome too, and I’d try Safari, but most Mac users probably use that or Opera and since there haven’t seem to have been any complaints, we’ll chalk it up to I.E. 8 still being a beta product and possibly having problems with Ajax and maybe even JavaScript.
Refresh, clear cache, I am starting to have some trouble as well and thats the only way I can get around it.
I cant reply to alot of my messages in the CP area because it wont grant me permission. Same thing with pictures, It wont grant me permission. Once in a while I get the quick reply with the same message.
Steve will see this or I will call him later to let him no some tweaking is in order. Hang in there glitches can happen and we appreciate the patience during this transition.
Oh I have not up graded my I.E yet and will wait till its no longer beta version.
Yeah I may try to drop this back to IE7 I didn’t realize 8 was so new. I had 6 and Steve said the little prob I was having may have been that so I went to 8. Should have stopped at 7.
