There’s possibly a good chance there has been mention made of this. But why not go ahead anyways? A friend of mine loaned me his copy of Neil Strauss’s Annihilation Method DVD set. As you know I have a level of cynicism towards PUA but so far I’m liking Strauss alot better then Mystery.
I’m more about taking the things that I like out of it and putting it towards my own applications then following it all to a T. Anyways what I really found fascinating to the point that I’m typing this post was his mention of the cologne opener. It’s discussed on DVD2 @ around the 53:25 mark. Sum it up you spritz a cologne on your left wrist and different cologne on your right. Approach the set and ask for their opinion of which fragrance they like better. So this got me thinking pheromones. All sorts of deviant possibilities.
Maybe one wrist with, one wrist with a regular cologne. You could statistically see if they prefer the one with pheromones better and have them get a real good whiff of your pheros.
I guess I am kinda old school. I would probably not start with that. My reason is, I don’t want a girl to associate me with anything other than me. Not my cologne, not my clothing, nothing external. Just me. The opener would probably work once per girl but here is the problem: lets pretend you use a popular cologne such a Coolwater as your “cover” and something like Tommy on your other wrist. Ok, she smells both and loves the coolwater because the mones. Now everytime she smells CW she is going associate it with feeling lovely. See where I am going with this? The mind is wired to make associations. Chances are she wont associate YOU with the lovely feeling because you were asking her about cologne. Its a roll of the dice at best. Now lets say you don’t “open”. Lets say you just bump into the girl and strike a conversation. No gimmicks, nothing but conversation. She now associates good conversation with you, and a lovely feeling that is boosted by the mones.
Its not that hard to strike a conversation, just think about where you are (bookstore, coffee shop, salad bar, museum, war zone, etc). Also, and THIS IS KEY GENTLEMEN, talk about something YOU are interested in. If your just using it as a pickup, IT WILL BACKFIRE. If she can’t keep up with you on something you are interested in, why would you want to spend/waste time on her? She may look lovely, but wanting to stab yourself during dinner because you have NOTHING to talk about is NOT attractive, and she will notice it. Using cheap gimmicks just feels cheap, for both parties. If you want her to give an opinion, make it on something you ACTUALLY want her opinion on. It makes it genuine in the way you ask it, and more importantly she knows its genuine. Girls, please chime in here if you have anything to add.
I did this to a girl and she could not get enough of my smell…she was all over me and kept asking me for hugs. I used my charm to seduce her along with my pheros. I finally called her out on it and she finally admittied she loved the way I smelled and told me I was cute too. I believe the combination of direct smell of pheros to her nose with the addition of charm
could prove beneficial.
You know what I like about bringing old topics up is? New Ideas. They are GREAT! I wonder what would happen if we only discussed each topic once.. well, eventually we would have nothing to share. Not to mention that not everyone was around when the last discussion took place. So maybe before you decide to post a worthless comment like “This has been discussed already” you should think about bringing some value to the discussion. Here are some ideas so you don’t look like an arse next time…
"Hey, I remember someone discussing this before… you may wanna check this out <insert link to old discussion>…
or
“This is what I think about the “opener” <insert your opinion>, and here is also where it was discussed ealier <insert link>.”

It’s a method to keep things organized so you don’t go about opening different threads to view a discussion.

Well, Mr. Helpful, why don’t you offer a bit of that “Matter of convenience for a visitor” and point out WHERE it was discussed? Can you tell me how your shutting him down was a convenient or even helpful to the poster?
So lets get real. Someone asked a question… contribute or stfu. Telling someone its been discussed elsewhere and not telling them where is just rude. So are you going to help or continue being a prick? Tell him where it was discussed. If you can’t, you had no right posting that. And oh, not everyone reads every post ever made before presenting an idea. Stones… glass house… see where I am going?
Pheromone based scents might have a higher chance of loosing vs regular colognes. They are not supposed to smell good, they are supposed to feel good. Most pheromones have a body odor type smell which even if they are well covered, may become apparent when taking a close whiff. That’s why we take all this effort in masking their smell, we want it to register subconsciously.
Some might argue that what makes them feel good might make it smell good and there are plenty of user reports that presence of pheromones has enhanced the scent of colognes, but I feel there is sometimes a delay before the pheromone information registers and that may end up working against pheromone enhanced colognes.
Finally what I wrote above is just theory…who knows, give it a shot and let us know how it goes!

Anyway as far as smn1234 was saying a search using “Cologne Opener” would have brought up these posts, one of which was his even though it had been already covered before.
So yeah while he did the same thing that he flamed the original poster did it was still less than useful for Davinci to reflame the flame with a flame but I can understand his point of sometimes rehashing old threads to get a new perspective on them.
So instead of reflaming the reflame of the flame with even more flames thus incinerating this thread with a bunch of useless flaming I elected to do a search and post the results here for further research and usage. I hope it helps.

In my opinion “The Cologne Opener” is a good way to get practice talking to girls. Its not something I would really try on a girl I was really interested in, as it does come off as played out and really kinda lame. But for practice on getting close to girls and doing something that you know has a good chance of getting shot down, go for it. Have fun with it!
Really we should be developing our own openers that are congruent with our personalities. Using canned openers are OK only to get you acclimated with talking to women, but then as you progress so must your openers.

But yes, it does get a little tiresome to see the same questions re-posted. But I also know how tiresome doing a search can be at times. So often I get more unrelated “search hits” than what I’m looking for.
We could probably use some summary FAQs. Someplace other than the forum. We already have a crud-load of “stickys”…
