The Fine Art of Peacocking.

So last night I went bar hopping with a 2 of my good friends. One of my friends being the complete goth that he is dressed like a walking advertisement for hot topic. My second friend being the biker that he is wore some beat up jeans and a t-shirt with some expletives written on it. And I wore a black fedoria, a designer shirt, a wallet chain and a pair of jeans… (And for all those who are interested I was also rockin’ some 2x MX292, NPA, and 50mcg of P74)

So would you like to take a guess who had both men and stunningly attractive women approaching him all god damn night long? Without fail at every place we went my goth friend got all of the attention! (And not the guy loaded up with the expensive synthetic human pheromones.)

So what’s the moral of this story? The guy who stand out the most will always receives the most attention. So my question is this: For all the guys out there when you are going out what do you wear when you’re looking to get some attention, in other words I’d love to hear some great peacocking techniques.

And for the ladies my question is this: Have you ever been out and have ever seen a guy who stood out in such a positive way that you just had to strike up a conversation? What was it that made him stand out?

Peacocking techniques? That sounds ridiculous, just choose a sexy stereotype. What kind of look are you going for? Who are you trying to model yourself after in terms of looks and fashion?

Your friend chose the goth look, therefore it’s sexy and he was approached all night because you said he looked like a walking advertisement for hot topic, your other friend was a biker dude with beat up jeans which is also a nice look.

You had on a fedora, wallet chain, designer shirt, and jeans. What kind of look were you going for? Aimless “peacocking” is a waste of time in my opinion. The first thing you should work on is growing your hair, it’s the KEY ingredient…BE SEXY. CHOOSE A SEXY STEREOTYPE that will feel natural to you. You can always google celebrities and imitate their look.

Friends of mine know if I peacock, like tonight Check this.

I will be wearing a White Linen Shirt, with Black linen pants with dark dark brown sidecar shoes and a tan-white bone necklace with a rather large old chinese coin as the medallion

It may sound ridiculous but both men and women have been peacocking since the beginning of time. All mammals do. The point of peacocking is to not “fashion” yourself like anyone else but to make yourself stand out in some way. You can achieve this through fashion, body language or many other ways. The one who stands out confidently and comfortably is the one who gets the attention and usually the phone numbers. Stereotyping is never a good option. There is nothing more cheesy then trying to mimic a celebrity and women pick right up on it. It may be amusing but not attractive.

Umm why is hair growth a key ingredient ?

Dj has given a good example of peacocking. Its not overdone. He will be comfortable and confident. He accessorizes to compliment his personality not to mimic another.

Yes, Usually its a subtle difference so I can not pick one thing and tell you what it is. Think about your friends that night. Sure many people dress like bikers or goth but did they have something unusual added to what they were wearing. Something no other goth would wear. Something that would grab interest and make a girl say… “Hmm what is that?” and make her want to approach and ask. Peacocking is just for your opening to draw them to you. Like DJ’s big gold medallion. I never met him but now I am curious and want to see it and ask about it LOL

Oh and since we are on peacocking at least you dont have to dance around like these suitors …

Of course it all depends on where you are going, but I wear the high end labels or form fitting shirts and show off the muskles, lol. Armani gets alot of attention. Prada shoes and such. I get the most attention wearing a nice suit. You wear a tailor made suit or a Canali suit and such, you bet your ass the women will notice. A fresh new haircuit from somebody who actually knows how to cut hair and style hair goes a long way too. A quality timepiece on your wrists. And as always you want to smell great. You want the women thinking, “wow, somebody smells great, where is it coming from?” Don’t use the cologne everybody else is using.

The word “stereotyping” has a bad reputation, we see it everyday, people on TV who say “Stereotyping is WRONG! You should judge people based on the content of the character!” We may all agree with this theory but we also know that this is the real world, women will stereotype you in the first 2 seconds when you approach them, if she stereotypes you as a “sexy guy” the approach is going to go much better than than if she stereotypes you as an average guy or a nice guy.

We all have a certain amount of social conditioning telling that we should never copy anything, modeling yourself after a person who already has it figured out will give you a huge head start.

Here’s a few examples of some sexy stereotypes:

The Hip Hop Look
Jim Jones wearing Nostic Apparel

Indie Rockers “The Plain White T’s”
Elements of the looks are floppy hair, converse all stars, tight fitting clothes, and dark jeans

You get the idea, you can even go for the well-dressed look but be better dress than the other guys.

You ask why hair? Sometimes I go out with these PUA guys and I see them “peacock”…they wear rings, necklaces, furry hats, and other accessories and I’ve NEVER seen any women approach them asking about those things. I have crazy spikey hair and I get women approached me ALL THE TIME saying “oh my god I love your hair! can I touch it?” or “wow your hair is so crazy!” My hair alone stands out and I plan letting it grow longer. Long hair is a great way to stand out! I plan making my hair like this guy:

When it gets long enough, I’ll even try it like this guy:

Well I guess “techniques” probably wasn’t the right word, but I was just looking for other peoples thoughts on going out and not just looking good, but looking different in a positive way.

Quite frankly I received more attention than my biker friend… I totally agree that’s a cool look, but it’s not really attention grabbing, if ya know what I mean.

Honestly I wasn’t trying trying to peacock, I was just dressing how I normally dress, I only described how the biker and myself dressed to show contrast.

…Alright on second thought maybe the hat was peacocking a little, it did end up getting me a email address of a fine lady so at least it was something.

HA! If you know knew! My long hair has been my secret weapon for years. You can kinda see it in my profile pic. (Not my avatar pic, which is a picture of Tommy Lee.)

Ahhh yes I have seen that site before, and those bird videos are freaking hilarious!
