I tried first one spray of I/S (to-go) on my wrists. I like the smell, but it’s very, very strong–and it kept wafting up into my face, my eyes were watering.
I went and washed it off with soap. So then, later, I sprayed one spray of I/H (reg bottle) on the back of my head–thought that would be better, and it is for my eyes, but I am getting complaints (at home) about it being too perfumy.
Dang, I am eager to try these out! Do other people experience this? I read about people putting multiple shots on, and I am puzzled. Any advice, thoughts?
Hi Mona! Let me first of all thank you for posting here. Thank you for letting us know what’s going on in terms of your pheromone usage. It is not unheard of that something like this happens, though rather rare. I’m going to take a shot in the dark here and say it’s your body chemistry, which of course isn’t a bad thing. I can see that you are a very sensitive, charming person, which is a very good thing.
Do you wear any other kinds of perfume? Have you ever in the past? Did they cause a problem? If you have and they didn’t cause any problems, then consider ordering the products from AD in an unscented form. That’s about $60 more per bottle. But you will then be able to spray on the pheromones and spray on a squirt of perfume afterwards.
AD is a very compassionate, kind, caring company that treats their clients very good. If you explain to them via the contact us form your situation and ask them for advice, they will be sure to give it to you. They might even let you get the unscented upgrade for free.
Another thing, it might not be your body language, it might be their overly sensitive noses. Try it around other people. Also try spraying it alway from body parts that will have contact with your nose. Some women spray instant sexiness on their cleavage, for example. I can tell that you’re probably not the kind of person that goes out clubbing all the time, but get creative, and find something. Try your hair.
Blessings,
YDSB
Hi YDSB,
Thanks for answering. I don’t usually wear perfume, but I do like very light citrus fragrances. I’ve noticed that flowers like freesias will make tears run down my face in, like, 5 seconds. Perfume can make my eyes tear up, too, but it seems to be just certain kinds. For some reason I usually associate it with a kind of little old lady perfume-mothball combo (lol). But it wasn’t just me today–my girlfriend kept saying it was too strong after I sprayed the back of my head. Are you thinking that my body chemistry makes the fragrance more potent? Wow. Maybe the perfumers should study me. <<I wonder if my body chemistry would make the pheromones more potent, too–ha ha wouldn’t that be great>>.
This would be too bad, because I really, really want to try out the products. If I can only put a little bit on (dabbing vs. spraying) then I am only getting a little bit of the pheromone. I tried another company’s products (no scent added) and had a few hits out in public. I didn’t have any weird reaction to their product (no strong smell or anything). I found this site, and everyone raved so much about the products that I had to try it. I did write a note to Steve O. Maybe I will have to try the unscented stuff. Do you really think they’d lower the price? ![]()
Hmm, it may be because your sensitive to perfume already.
Neroli drys down light and women generally use multiple sprays without being over scented. The reason the other unscented product you wore only gave you mild results is because it was unscented most likely. The scent is what binds and diffuses the mones into the air so others can inhale them.
Plus really there is no such things as unscented pheromones. Most tend to smell like BO without the scent package.
You could try another scent in the custom area. I like grapefruit.
I dont really think they will let you have unscented free. Its costly for them to go back and make unscented batches. It cant hurt to ask though.
I have to ask about the complaints at home. Are they really complaining or are they just asking about the scent ? If they are not used to you wearing scents its not unusual for people to comment.

Huh. I guess maybe I am sensitive to perfumes/odors, although I never really thought of it that way. I can only spend so much time in a bath shop store, because the mix of strong smells gets too much. Patchouli pretty much gags me in large doses. I also have what they call a “dry eye” condition, where the fluid on the eye evaporates really quickly. I have a couple of treatments I use, and I have to be really careful with what makeup I use (otherwise it is running down my face or gets smeared from rubbing my eyes from irritation), although good hypoallegenic stuff works okay. I do also live in an area where people maybe don’t use as much perfume anymore (northern California), and it’s pretty common for people to get complainy about it–this would be a concern, so if it smells strong to both me and my girlfriend, I am worried about getting complaints in my business. I actually really like the scent of the neroli in a small dose (dab)! But from what other people are saying here, it seems like that would not be enough to get the pheromone effect I’m looking for ![]()
Well, crap. I guess I could try the grapefruit, because I really love citrus. I wonder if I get some feedback from other people who have tried it? Is it at all perfume-y, or is it really a light scent? How does it compare strengthwise to the neroli?
Maybe I’ll end up going the unscented route, but Trish you are saying that the pheromones work best with a scent to lift them into the air. Then I probably should find some alternative scent to add somehow. The only thing I can think of is a mild oil based orange scent. ((Also, I can’t seriously ask them to not charge me for unscented–that seems kinda not right… but maybe they’d let me try some things out in tiny doses? to see if I really like them, since the to-go sprays probably won’t do it for me)).
Also, I’d love to hear from the men here, because I imagine there’s a lot of guys who didn’t use to wear cologne before trying the pheromones, and maybe don’t care for it. Guys, can I get a little help here?? ![]()
Hi there Mona! I’m one of those guys who wasn’t a cologne wearer for many, many years prior to trying out the mones here. Primarily, because I would have an allergic reaction to many scents and it turned out, that the colognes I’d use, though ok initially, would provoke some negative effects (migraine headaches, nausea) with extended exposure. So, I basically kicked the colognes period.
Instant Shine is what I started with and since the scent package is at 6% cologne strength (read: lightly scented), then, I thought it wouldn’t affect me as much. I was right, no major negative self effects, though, occasionally, with some mones and some scents, I’d get a light headache that would go away with a little time.
So, the scents aren’t causing me the type of negative response to scents that you describe. People around me at work, at home, or at play are fine with it and complement the Neroli or Akuto scents that I often wear in my mones.
I’m in So. Cal. so I think it is a bit of a different social environ from you Northerners. The Neroli scent is a bit on the masculine side, in my opinion. Could it be a negative to the scent and if your using IH, they could be brutally honest with there opinions to you!
One way I’ve ‘muted’ the scent (along with the mones) is to apply on my skin, under my shirt or you could also try on your legs as well.
I don’t know what scent is packaged for IS/b, but you could ask at the number above…
For IS and IH, the default is Neroli.
Here is a thread where I asked about scents from AD and there are some good suggestions there as well for application. Hope that helps!
@Alpha–thanks for sharing your experience with me. The mones I’m trying all have the neroli in them. So it’s really that I’m reacting to, I guess. I’m thinking about trying out grapefruit with I/S and some of the others. Or getting the scentless version and trying some very very mild citrus spray with it.
Haha–I didn’t think about the “honesty” part of Instant Honesty! Yeah, I’ll bet that was an out and out hit there! I did spray my office today with the I/H and I really like the smell. But that’s all diffused in a room. No clients today, so no chance to see if anyone else responds to it.
Any votes out there for the grapefruit fragrance?
Here this link may help some >>
Your favorite products from love-scent?
You will see a lot of votes for chocotini which is a great scent but the reason I didnt suggest it is because its strong and can be cloying. If you like lighter scents grapefruit is the lightest they have really. Its fresh and smells true to a grapefruit, not cloying at all like some perfumes.
