Off to Minneapolis for a seminar, for my day of flying I wore a coat and tie 2 drops A314, 2 sprays of shine. When I arrived my flight was on time so I checked in and went through security nothing odd. NC > Newark> Minneapolis. The delay didn’t surface until I started down the boarding ramp. Here came the people in front of me back up. So I go back to the gate desk and ask if I can get a later flight from Newark>Minneapolis. The guy at the desk hunts and pecks awhile and gets me on. Fine, with an hour now to kill before we can reboard I go for a cup of coffee. Nice experience #1, as I’m walking down the concourse I’m smiling and saying “Hi” to anyone who looks my way and speak to a fine young lass of about twenty. She looks a little freaked out but says “Wait, I can’t find my gate can you help?”
Hmmm, “Sure where are you going?
“Orlando, where’s gate B3?”
Now this airport only has 3 B gates and 2 A gates, The coffee machine just happens to be by B3.
" I’m going there now”
She grabs her bag in one hand and my arm with the other! Wow!
After Coffee and a short conversation with her I go back to my gate. Gate desk guy is waiting, “There are no seats left on the later flight from Newark, I can get you on a flight from here to Detroit and then to Minneapolis. But the Detroit >Minneapolis flight only has one seat left.”
“Book It” Danno. He does and verifies my boarding pass. Well two more hours until the flight to Detroit and Orlando girl is gone. I go for lunch and a beer.
Nice experience #2. Just before my Detroit flight gate desk guy comes halfway across the airport looking for me. “I’ve got a nice surprise for you a seat came open on the exit row so I changed your seat to give you more leg room.”
Now I’m just 5’ 9" so leg room is not the first thing most people think of when they see me but the guy was so proud of himself! He had gone out of his way to book the first seat and then without ANY further discussion had gone out of his way again to get me a better seat. Too bad a business class seat hadn’t come open.
Lastly weird experience in Detroit. I went to the rest room and as I was washing my hands I noticed this guy next to me was mirroring my every move without really even looking my way. I think “coincidence” and turn toward the paper towel dispenser. He turns. I quickly turned back to my sink and started washing my hands again. He did the exact same thing! he was not watching me, just mirroring me. He didn’t follow me after I left the restroom thank goodness or I would have freaked out.
Was it just a good day for me or did I get some hits? any opinions?
Why do people always ask questions when they already have the answer? I’ll never know. ![]()
That A314 does something amazing, Renny! I’m shocked how many people say they don’t notice anything different when wearing it!
“Here’ya go, boss!”
Hmm… At least you weren’t already in Minn., sitting in a stall with a suspiciously wide stance and a creepy old guy next to you making strange hand gestures under the stall wall. ![]()
Those were hits, bud. Reps to ya!
