Yes, the great actor Michael Caine said you must treat every day as an audition. Challenge yourself to make other people enjoy what you do.
If you can get yourself to begin dreaming lucidly, it can work wonders. Not to be offensive, but more so if you’re an intelligent/logical person.
Why, you ask? Because, this way you can simulate scenarios vividly. If there are some upcoming choices that you have, and you’re dreaming lucidly, you can get through the normal “trippy” dream crap and play out some scenarios. If you’re logical enough, you can go back and see what things do or don’t work. I mean, your reasoning won’t always be right, but it’s a helpful little bit.
Actually, I don’t dream - or if I do, I don’t remember. Sometimes I’ll wake up screaming, or just talk in my sleep. I can somewhat expect a nightmare if I take B6. When I take melatonin, I’ll sometimes find myself trying to turn off the alarm in a dream, then wake up out of frustration because the alarm’s just not turning off!
How do you get yourself lucid dreaming?
Frankly, I don’t care if my dreams are lucid or not. I’m happy to settle for being relatively lucid in my waking hours.
All I want is a good sound restful nights sleep, although sometimes I fly and slay monsters while breathing fire. ![]()
Disclaimer: I’m not a sleep therapist, nor a doctor, and I don’t play one on PheroTalk.
That said…
I prefer to take my B6/50mg along with the rest of the B-Complex vitamins, as they work better when taken together, and a few other supplements in the AM after breakfast. I find taking B vitamins late in the evening to be too stimulating, keeps me awake/restless if I take them too close to bedtime.
B vitamins are water soluble and aren’t stored in the body, what your body doesn’t need you just pee out. Although a lot of things deplete B vitamins, like BC and HRT.
If you don’t take enough magnesium the vitamin B6 will have trouble metabolizing. B6 is a co-enzyme and works best when taken with magnesium, among a slew of other things. When you take them together they’re both much more effective.
Magnesium effects the central nervous system and is needed for a restful/calm sleep, right along with calcium, in proper ratios, and with vitamin D3 added for absorption. How much B6 are you taking? There doesn’t seem to be any known toxic effects from B6 in ranges below 200mg/day, although it’s been documented that when taken for long periods of time, in large amounts (upwards of 2grams/daily), it can cause serious side effects like sensory neuropathy (nerve damage) and other problems like numbness in the skin/extremities.
Melatonin is metabolized from Seratonin when you fall asleep. It’s a hormone that’s only active when you sleep and it’s possible that it may give you more lucid dreams.
There’s a lot more involved in promoting restful sleep/lucid dreaming than just combining a few vitamins to illicit the effect. It has everything to do with REM and what’s involved in protein synthesis/neurotransmitters/amino acid levels. Actually the particular neurotransmitter in use during REM is made from the B vitamin Choline which the body makes itself but in order to do so it needs vitamin B12, Folic acid, and other amino acids. It’s a hella complicated cavalcade of synergy/synthesis that can easily be disrupted by too much of one supplement and not enough of another or improper combining of supplements/improper ratios. Timing of supplementation and balance are key.
Short shrift…if you want to remember your dreams, with what you’re using…my suggestion would be to try dividing the dose of magnesium and taking it with a B6/B-Complex in the morning and then the other half of the magnesium with a sublingual melatonin, not more than 3mg before bed, or maybe take time-released melatonin instead. Perhaps that combo will help stop you from waking up at intervals during the night. I don’t think I’d take any B’s, especially w/o melatonin/magnesium, before bed. I’m also I’m pretty sure ya gotta hit REM before you get lucid.
When you first start any supplemental program you need to give it sufficient time to see noticeable results. If you are lacking magnesium, more than likely you’ll have trouble with dream recall until you take enough to balance the deficiency.
Anyways, here’s to a restful night’s lucid dreaming that leads to higher spiritual awareness. ![]()
Bella
Thanks for your post Bella. I seem to remember reading somewhere that if you take a melatonin supplement your body will begin to produce less melatonin. Is that true?
Bella, I’m actually on a compounded undermethylation mix right now, so I don’t know if I should add to the B vitamins otherwise doc will get cranky.
I take spoonful of magnesium/calcium powder, calcium d-glucarate and 3mg melatonin if I suspect my body clock is getting a bit out of whack.
I took 100mg B6 last night with the above and no dreams, no nightmares.
Well besides reading a crazy amount of books on psychology and the likes I also use the following (sure makes me wonder how I get time in to procrastinate everyday):
Meditate
Yoga
Mind Machine
HPP Technology Lloyd Glauberman
DRINK WATER
Vitamins
Self-Hypnosis
Study
Read
Music
Dance
Work-Out
Diet
I’ll edit and add more as I think of them ![]()
EDIT: Sage Goddess Emerald Essence (about once every other week) Salvia Divinorum
Steve, what mind machine do you use?
I’m interested to know, Steve, what HPP products you recommend/use. I’ve previously been leery to use a hypnosis type product, but I am becoming more and more open to the idea.
I use the Nova Pro 100 from Photosonix: Amazon.com: - Photosonix Nova Pro 100 Light & Sound Machine Sensory with Colortrack Glasses: Health & Personal Care
Costly at nearly $500 (a better deal than buying from Photosonix and they even include the colortrax glasses). It’s got some amazing capabilities and has been worth every penny.
I also have an old Serius with pure white glasses. Most likely I’ll be listing this on eBay someday. I bought it for $100 a few years back and while it was a cheaper model, I did get some very good use out of it.
I’ve used Personal Ecology and on tacitus recommendation I used ACE Golf Mastery Game (think more Game than Golf), and Creating a Presence. Right now I have been putting money into my massage oil company though so spending is at a minimum. I can assure you there are no others like this. I’ve also used some Hypnotica stuff and it does not compare to HPP. Best stuff I ever used and makes a HUGE impact. As with anything valuable and worth-while it takes time and effort. If you are willing to put in the effort you get the benefits. ![]()
You don’t know if you should take it because your doctor will get cranky, but ya took it?
hwj, I took a chance responding to you only going by the limited info given even though I was pretty sure there was more to the equation than what was stated. You didn’t elude to the fact that you are under medical supervision and taking supplements other than or with the B6/melatonin. Such as the undermethylation mix, not what it contains, that it was prescribed, nor what it’s been prescribed for, although I can make an educated guess. Good of you to expound a little more. There’s always more, lol. ![]()
Then you said -
But ya don’t say whether you just decided to add these supplements, on your own, in addition to the undermethyalation mix or that it was part of what the doctor instructed you to add to it. ![]()
Be aware that taking too much melatonin can cause side effects, even at a seemingly “low” dose of 3mg. And one of them is vivid dreams/nightmares
and the reason you might be having them may be because your body is already producing enough melatonin by itself and doesn’t actually need more melatonin supplementation. If you choose to keep taking it, it might be wise to cut down on the dosage.
“Melatonin isn’t habit-forming, but around 6 per cent of users report side-effects, including vivid dreams, nightmares and daytime drowsiness. No serious long-term side-effects have as yet been reported.”
– Dr Charles Shepherd, ‘Living With M.E.’, p 78 –
It’s generally recommended that you only take melatonin supplements if your natural melatonin levels are low. In any case, it’s always best to consult your doctor before taking any supplements. Also ask your doctor if he’s aware of any drug interactions/side effects of the supplements he recommends.
Undermethylated people have low levels of/tend to be depleted in the three essential neurotransmitters, serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine. It’s not only used to treat that it’s also used to treat other biochemical disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder.
The content of what makes up an undermethylation mix varies depending on it’s purpose. And, yes, some of them do contain B vitamins. I’m not an MD and I don’t presume to dispense advice as to what supplements you should take or how/why you should take them. I’ma just throwin’ it out there because you asked about lucid dreaming. As with so many things/remedies in life, no matter what it is, your approach/success/mileage will vary. Only you know what works for you and what doesn’t.
BTW, there’s tons of info out there to be found about lucid dreaming. Anytime you start supplementing, it pays to do your homework or you run the risk of screwing up your chemical balance. If I were under a doctor’s care and taking a prescription undermethylation mix, I’d be very careful about what else I threw into that mix without his knowledge of my doing so. ![]()
Anyways, I’m glad you had a good night, hwj. ![]()
Bella
You’re welcome, chads. ![]()
There doesn’t seem to be any evidence that there are problems with short term use. But, yes, I’ve read that adding exogenous melatonin/chronic use, and that’s in the typical range of 3-6mg, can suppress the body’s own production of the hormone, but there are still no definitive answers. Some some say if you use it to get to sleep your body is going to produce even less thus creating greater need for the hormone. As far as the studies go at this point, the jury is still out on the benefits/side effects and long term effects/safety is still a question. Most experts don’t recommend taking it for more than two weeks at a time. At present the limited clinical studies they’ve done don’t seem to support that it works very well as a treatment for insomnia.
If you don’t know what you’re doing and just go at taking it willy nilly, you can fuck up your circadian rhythms. And among other things, it can also cause insomnia/fatigue/depression. Often people lack understanding of what conditions to use it for and how to use it properly so it doesn’t end up working as they expected and can cause even more problems in the long run. It must be taken at the appropriate time in the appropriate dose and that varies as to what it’s being used for. It’s always best to start with the lowest dose possible and work up from there. Sometimes as little as 0.3mg does the trick.
Melatonin alone doesn’t regulate circadian rhythms. It may help people fall asleep faster but it might not help them stay asleep and sometimes it can make them hungover or drowsy the next day. If you have trouble sleeping it might not mean that you need more melatonin but that your body clock produces it at the wrong time of day. The body depends on bright light to reset it’s daily sleep/wake cycle. Your body will reset its own internal clock with the proper exposure to light at the right time. In which case, instead of supplementing with melatonin, Light Therapy might be the better alternative.
Melatonin is a hormone so levels of it vary from person to person and there are people with certain conditions and/or on certain medications, like beta-blockers, high blood pressure meds or corticosteroids, who shouldn’t take melatonin. It also interacts with other hormones which is why children and pregnant/nursing women shouldn’t take it.
I think it’s important that people understand the facts. So, here ya go chads, the experts can 'splain it a lot better than me. ![]()

Bella
Bella your scaring me
I use it everyday as I dont sleep well anymore. DARNIT what am I supposed to do now lol. I guess I’ll have to stay up half the night trying to fall asleep…
I added Sage Goddess Emerald Essence (about once every other week) Salvia Divinorum to my list. Don’t mess with it if you aren’t doing it for introspection. This is NOT a street drug!
Salvia is a trip man. I did it 1 time and I was done.
To many people attempt to use it as some kind of get my high drug, when it is far from that. I use the tincture that in low doses adds to my meditation introspection. It’s great for that, but those who smoke it to get high have another thing coming. It will bring up fear like you just don’t know. When you lose your self and you become nothing its to much to handle for most people. Your reaction is not uncommon. The lady does have a way of showing you either her garden, in which we are all one with, or something far scarier than most will be able to cope with. Believe it or not its an aphrodisiac in small amounts as a tincture. Sage Goddess Emerald Essence is by far the best I have ever used.
Are you saying that you used the ACE Golf Mastery Game for game training? (As in, generating positive reactions from women)
You say that like it’s a bad thing ![]()
Yup, on tacitus recommendation and wow! Improved my game leaps and bounds
I don’t really understand how does the golf program would help you with woman could you explain?
