If you add IJ to the mix, would it make you a soda jerk? ![]()
I’ve heard similar stories about the Mrs. Fields cookies
ODG
Thats not Pembertons original formula though. His original was sold with a lot more pure coca and had 9mg of cocaine per glass. When Candler took the company in the early 1900’s he altered the formula extensively most likely to the one you have listed there.
Just think of all those people running around hopped up on coke way back then (snort) ![]()

Not to burst the bubbles of anyone hoping the copy this recipe but don’t you think Coca-Cola would have secured an injuction against the publishing of ‘real’ recipe?
I don’t think they CAN get an injunction, because I don’t think they have the formula patented. Patenting the formula would require providing a formula to be patented. And if they did that, anyone and everyone would be able to see it, so Coke chooses to just keep it a secret, that only two people at a time know.
Now we can make coca cola perfume!
If you read the article it was discussed that it was originally printed in the early 1900’s. It was a piece of paper in someones hand that the new article simply enlarged. Coca-Cola would have had to get an injunction of the original article against a news story. In the US we have a Bill of Rights that protect the freedom of speech and the right of the free press. It was news article about a new company making good. Essentially Coca-Cola would need to first eliminate the Bill of Rights and have a time machine to go back to the original printing and then file an injunction. Coca-Cola is a powerful company but I don’t think they actually have a time machine yet ![]()
Yes, the US is has a better publishing rights, especially in regards to printing “secrets”. But, it’s not ubiquitous. I remember a few years ago the US government (yes, the government) obtained an injunction against the BBC regarding details of the Iraq war.
In the UK, what the press can and cannot publish is quite complicated. Many organisations/people can secure an injunction against a statement which could be considered damaging as well as a “super-injunction” to prevent newspapers publishing the fact that they’ve been gagged! It’s appalling and needs to be stamped down on.
Although saying this, the British press are printing this left, right and centre so I assume there’s not a problem.
Regarding the recipe, if I could get the ingredients easily, I would definitely try this as I drink a can-o-Coke everyday!
You realize, while somewhat correct, my post retort to your post is poking fun at yah. Unless you really do have a time machine
. Do you?![]()
While I haven’t been here for long, I’ve been here long enough to know that you’re clever enough not to say upsetting things to customers. ![]()
Oh now I’m in the mood for injunction-chat I will to bore you with this video which may or may not surprise some people about what companies can “nearly” get away with in this country YouTube - HIGNFY Trafigura Carter-Ruck the British Parliament & Freedom of Speech
LOL, good stuff. Looks like someone has keen observational skills. I need to be careful around you
. In all seriousness though if someone pisses me off enough, I am OK with tossing my career aside and standing up for what I believe in. There’s nothing in the world more important to me than being able to look in the mirror with a clean conscious.
Well in that case, I’ll be sure to be careful around you too. ![]()
I love how one of the ingredients is Neroli!! One of my new favorite scents.
Its true to I have seen him do it. ![]()
Here’s looking at you, kid. ![]()
