I went into a local dept. store the other day only to get attacked by a bunch of cologne pushing clerks. Man, when I walked through that section I almost past out from lack of oxygen. How can anyone make a choice of colognes when there is so many different ones in the air already! A 50 pound bag of coffee beans would not be able to clean the nasal palette.
I don’t even try to smell anything in the perfume stores. I have a tester sprayed and then literally walk out of the store to smell it. It’s good exercise, I’ll say that!
I don’t recall ever being approached by a cologne slinging sampler person. Maybe they take one look, think it’s just too hopeless and don’t bother…
But I agree that the times I’ve been in the perfume stores it’s just too overwhelming to get a good feel for anything. Even walking into a Hallmark store with all the scented candle inventory I almost pass out. I have to limit myself to getting a couple of test sprays on a card or two then leaving to clear my nose and doing test sniffs later. Slow process. Plus I have found few women who seem to care about colognes on men anyway. A cheap bottle of Old Spice may be all I need…
You can always get a french woman and then you don’t have to wear any cologne…or even bathe.![]()
women care about a man’s cologne if they like it.
Then again, I’m not a woman, am I?
Women like boys to smell clean (because they question their hygiene), and older men to smell sexy and/or exotic* (because hygiene is assumed, and sophistication lavished).*
Never understimate, the effect, that scents may have on women.Although Old spice is actually a nice scent,it’ OLD. Women relate the scent,to thier fathers and grandfathers. When using a cover scent, always go for quality and class.Although I have several,my two favorites are "Green Irish Tweed"by Creed and M7 by YSL. I have had women,in their 20’s,30’s 40’s 50’s ect. tell me I smell good when using GIT; 30’ and up using M7. Of course,I always have mones on.So,they get a good whif of them too.One woman, about 30, started to lick my neck.Yes,she was drunk. But,she was georgous. So,I let her lick away.I’m such a dog.
.
Rbt,please don’t go out with Old Spice on.Although we’re in our 50’s,we don’t have to advertise it. For in depth info,on cover scents, check out: basenotes.com
I’ve rarely if even had any woman comment on my cologne unless it’s shortly after I’ve put it on and it’s overwhelming. I generally don’t wear colognes anymore anyway, and just go “nekkid” or with the cover scents in the pheromone products.
Old Spice ain’t that bad. Plus I’ve heard some women like the “comfort” and feelings of fatherly security and trust it can conjure up (probably most useful if you are aiming at LTRs not ONS). Plus I have a nealry full bottle (I got free as it’s a “Tester” from someone closing up a product demo setup… Maybe they figured I needed all the help I could get…)
Other than Pheros (from Dr. Smell This on L-S) I haven’t found too many colognes I like, and I am still of the opinion most are overrated in tems of being a draw for women (or men for that matter) despite the ads for Axe and oldies like Hi Karate. I may check out GIT one of these days. Aqua Di Gio is supposed to be hot, but I gave it a try and don’t like it. Plus who wants to smell like everybody else? Wasn’t too wild about Cool Water either. I do kinda like scented Chikara, but I think of it as a “summer” fragarence.
I can’t spell YSL either…
basenotes is indeed an interesting site. Wish I had more time to explore it. Have tried to get into it more over the past year but… plus I’m not into colognes enough, yet, if ever. Been tempted to try one of those $50 sampler pack things I’ve seen. So much stuff, so little time…
Macy’s New York (not the chains) they’ll actually try to spray you. Very aggressive.
I like Old Spice.I occasionally wear it,at home.It reminds me of my father;gives me a good vibe.Almost all the women,I’m attracted to(age 30-45)have smelled it off their fathers, though. It can project that fatherly, security, caring vibe. However,I try to smell sexual, erotic and mysterious.I do not want to smell like everybody else, either.I have explored the world of scents, for 2 years(pheromones, also). How I smell has made a huge difference,in my love life.
Ah, fellas?
I stopped to ues a phone once at a car dealership (cell was dead) and the scent on the phone was sooooooo alluring I went back to ask the gentleman what he was wearing!:o ![]()
