What Cologne have have you gotten the best results from?

Just a quick poll to figure out the best of the best

Very few women can resist the smell of Creed- Green Irish Tweed. You,ll run into a few who will say you smell like soap, but most women in my poll love that fresh clean smell in the ignition stage of attraction.

I’ll second this, but from a social standpoint. I’ve put my “prowling” on hold while I concentrate on my career, but I never fail to get a compliment at least 2 to 3 times a week wearing GIT.

I also like to layer it with a spritz of Millesime Imperial to my shirt, as I’ve found the scents compliment eachother.

The colognes that deliver the best hits for me depends on the situation. If I going more upscale its Tuscany by Aramis. Its been around for years, but it never fails to deliver. In a more party or club atmosphere, its Dirty English by Juicy. I don’t even have to be wearing Phero’s for women to want to stand near me and smell.

here is the science behind all colognes…they are bogus! now just hear me out, by no mean that colognes/perfumes dont smell great and gets people’s attention, in fact i take pride in my collection and taste yes all the way from creed millesime, ferragamo, ambre, john varvatos (one day i like to try clive christian)etc…the only real deal is baby-powder and the essential oil of liquorice (good luck finding that)…cause they tested women and blood flow to the vegina! thats right, how “wet” women got when they smelled different products…best results are baby powder and black liquorice…go figure…lol

Well baby powder and black liquorice might get the woman wet, but things like the body shop strawberry body butter, or joop! get way more compliments and smiles.

I used to use joop! (the pink one) for evenings and diesel zero during the day. Cheap.. but.. they smell really good. Recently I have started using armani code but I get way less comments and imo it doesn’t smell as good.

Well while applying a hint of baby powder as an after shower skin treatment might be good, I highly doubt that women will swoon over a man that smells like black licorice (good and plenty’s). These tests, I imagine, were done in the sterile environment of a lab where the women lean back in a chair and are exposed to a variety of scents through nasal tubes like in an aromatherapy treatment.

Other scents that were shown in that study to produce results were cucumber and pumpkin pie. So get some EO of these scents (you CAN get black licorice EO) and combine them with some PA and make a cologne that’s based off of these scents and wear them in a social environment. While I’m sure they produce results in a lab, I’m willing to wager the combination of scents will just get strange looks and comments in a club.
“Why do you smell like candy and pie?”

If I was to try and utilize this information for attraction/seduction purposes I imagine it’d be more effective to do the following.
1.) use some baby powder the same way you would use a powdered carpet deodorizer. Sprinkle, set and vacuum up…this should leave a faint hint of the fragrance in your lair.
2.) Open a fresh box of Good and Plenty’s and pour them into a bowl on the coffee table or end table.

maybe add some freshly sliced cucumber on a plate as a snack, or even have some dehydrated cucumber slices that you can keep in a bowl in the kitchen and add some boiling water too for a cucumber potpourri.

This should give your home an atmosphere of the scents that would (assuming they work outside the lab) trigger the response expected and at the time when you most want it. AFTER the meeting and extraction to your seduction location.

Many pheromones are tested in such a environment as well though. Tests were done in different environments though. Using cotton balls with various scents on them and measuring response. They even tested the scents in scent lockets. That one particular test with the blood flow measurements was done in a controlled setting though. I have tremendous respect for the work of Dr Hirsch and places like the Sense of Smell Institute.

I wouldn’t call them all bogus. Many perfumers use the concept of aromatherapy when formulating there scents. The problem is sometimes they have the “more is better” mentality. To many signals or feelings to process. Its like being in a crowded room of jabbering people. You cant process what each person is saying so you tune it out. I am not saying they dont smell nice. They do they just do not evoke a chemical response. Time and again its been proven that simple one to three note scents are more effective in creating attention and evoking feelings.

I think a lot of men go for the high end cologne thinking about status. If I use something sophisticated or expensive it will up my value. There will be a handful of people who can pick up on what the scent of something is cologne wise and it may make them think you have money but I dont think thats the kind of value that attracts on a deeper more instinctual level.

Women especially being emotion driven are attracted to how something makes us feel. That’s where simple aromas work the best.

There is a difference in what aroma therapy and pheromones do.

While they both activate neuortransmitters in the brain aromatherapy evokes a feeling in general which is unconnected to communication or signaling. Pheromones communicate something about the users or the one emitting them. So one produces a feeling and the other communicates using feeling. Used together that can be a lethal combo.

Studies have shown that the smell of liquorice (anise) raises blood flow to the genitals in both males and females. That doesn’t mean you need to go around smelling like a good and plenty. That’s just the source used for the smell test since Dr H was trying to connect it with food and everyday products we use.

Anise is used in lots of commercial colognes. Its a rather spicy scent and depending on what commercial cologne you use it can blend well when layered. Its not hard to find.

I tested both anise and pumpkin. Pumpkin on a man actually smells amazing. Its a sweet musky spice scent. It doesn’t make you think, “oh you smell like thanksgiving” its just tantalizing and almost intoxicating. I love this scent on my husband.

Testing both these on there own and together I did see a increase in comments and attention. I saw a increase in arousal in my husband. Its kinda hard to judge that out in the field with strangers.

Then I used the same scent with pheromones I frequently use and know what to expect with them and let me tell you there is a marked difference in the effectiveness when used together. They compliment each other wonderfully.

Aromatherapy is a tool just like pheromones are a tool. I think pheromones are far more effective in communicating and attraction but aromatherapy both used in the environment and worn on the body really is effective for evoking certain feelings.

So you can get a few EO’s and blend them. There are plenty of sources online that sell pumpkin scent or anise. They even sell baby powder scent in various places. Cucumber and baby powder blend nicely. Use it with your mones and see how it go’s. You may be surprised by the results.

As always, you display amazing insight Tish, I’m wondering, if somebody were to try combining these EO’s with some PA on their own, what would determine which fragrances are top, middle and bottom notes? Is it determined by quantity and ratio or are there molecular weight issues that determine how each scent molecule diffuses?

It depends on how quickly each note evaporates. Every EO evaporates at a different rate. I always have to look the EO up before I make a scent combo. I have a aromatherapy book or two so I use these as a resource but you can find guides online to. They also tell you what blends well together and what note they are generally in a fragrance. I usually pick my middle note first and work around that.

For instance off the top of my head…

Anise is a top note it diffuses first Top notes are usually around 20% to 40% of a mix. It blends well with Lavender, cedarwood and neroli. I would have to look up what others it blends with but there are more.

Lavender is a middle note. Usually around 40% to 60% of a mix.

The bottom note is about 10 to 20 %

Then there is your bridge note which helps blend them all together.

You also have to consider what it is your making. A perfume, cologne body spray, scrub or toilette because that helps determine how much carrier and how much total EO you will combine.

It gets more complicated when you use lots of EO’s so I usually stick with 1 to 3 and a bridge only when needed. I am not a expert or anything its just a hobby and I use EO’s more for medicinal purposes but its fun making and experimenting with scents to.

Tish what’s the pumpkin one called your husband uses?

I got it for him from Bathed & Infused

It came out in the fall with the seasonal releases they offer there so I dont see it on the list. It’s called pumpkin spice.

They have a pumpkin parfait scent now. I dont know how that one smells though. They have awesome scents there though,

I will check around with my other vendors and see what they have. Right now its spring so they go more with the florals and woody scents.

I know demeter has it

That is legit, sounds good and not too expensive.

I have to say Chanel Allure Homme Sport, the only draw back its a EDT so it fades…however women are always saying something about it. It definitely has a virile, young sexual, let’s bone vibe smell to that attracts women. I liked it because not like the usual Aqua D or the other popular colognes.

I remember the best experience I had was waiting outside in line to get into a club. A chick in front of me was standing with her boyfriend. She catches the scent of my cologne and turns around. She’s says “OMG, that cologne smells sooooo goood.”

Being little cocky and on the fly…I threw in “I bet that turns you on.” And next thing you know she is pursing her lips and blushing. Her boyfriend was shell shocked about what happened. My buddy Kevin who was standing behind me got a good chuckle out of it.

However I don’t wear Chanel Allure Homme Sport anymore because I don’t like the fact how it fades very quickly. It goes strong at first but then fizzles out. And I out grew the scent. Call it maturity I guess.

My default cologne now is Geir Ness which is similar in scent to Allure Homme Sport, its a really good all around cologne. I wear it the office and going out. It’s an EDP so it lasts a lot longer. I don’t get quite the sexual reaction from women, however I do get subtle attention and the respectability.

For me, its Dia by Amouage, or perhaps L’air du Desert Marocain by Tauer.

Both evoke a sense of mystique that more often than not (especially when combined with A314) gets both men and women coming to me and asking me what I’m wearing…

where do you get perhaps L’air du Desert Marocain by Tauer my friend? cant find it at nordstrom or macy’s? thanks and take care!

might be Able to get it off amazon. I have been using Dirty English by Juicy and I have to say that it has not failed to get me compliments yet.

Boss Soul, Tommy Bahama and Hugo Boss (I think it’s special edition, it’s in a metal bottle)…also when I was younger - Givency

I get the most compliments from Bond #9 “Riverside Drive.” Thanks Denec.

I have been messing around with a couple new scents that I have gotten. I have gotten Envy by Gucci I have to say it is by far one of my favorite scents that I own to date. Also an update on the Dirty English by Juicy Couture. It is my choice scent for when I am going out at night and night clubbing. It’s strong enough to cover all the mones I use and it mixes well with a lot of mones. It is my favorite right now for cover scents. Granted that I own probably over 40 colognes. Unless you are counting decants too and mones then I own way more then that.
