What do you think is in store for the future of pheromones? As you may or may not know, the American government is hell bent on making all things that are good illegal. I am positive that as publicity rises about pheromones, so will opposition to their use. What could we do to fight negative publicity in the future? I really don’t want to see these illegal.
Most people that I’ve seen respond to these types of thread say to sum it up that they dont think it would happen. We’d have to have a good 10 million or more regular people using for it to even be on the radar.
People hate the fake pheromone sites but I love them in the sense that they mask the probability of actual substances existing that can alter human behavior.
I think all pheromone stores that are legit hide behind the facade of being a “cologne” and “perfume” type companies in order to be under the radar anyway.
Most people are such skeptics of pheromones because of the outrageous claims and false advertising and because many men and women think we’re above being animals when in actuality we aren’t. We just happen to have more bells and whistles due to society and infrastructure.
Anyway these are just my opinions. I highly doubt pheromones would come under fire for a good long time.
Synthetic pheromones have been around since the 60’s. Of course not with the abundance they are now since the Internet.
So far the FDA looks at pheromones as being cosmetic, more on the side of aromatherapy. I think it will stay that way for some time to. It would be hard to classify pheromones as drugs. They are not used to prevent or treat disease. Its really not there function. Pherin is looking at them for things like anxiety, stress, PMS and depression but so far there is no consistent evidence that pheromones can be used to treat these. They do not alter moods they influence moods. They may make you feel a little better temporarily but so will a bowl of chicken soup.
Pheromones can influence emotions. So can words, body language, and touch etc etc… They dont change or force change. They dont make others do something they are against doing. They are not as form of mind control.
I do think a potential problem arises when people misunderstand pheromones though. When they believe or claim that they can do something they can not. Like create the axe effect for example. Basically the axe effect commercials depicts mind control over females due to olfactory cues. We all know that its not real but just a clever and humorous way to market there product. Pheromones just dont do that and its misunderstandings like that, that send up red flags.
I think if people keep realistic views of what mones can do and what they cant do those few flags shouldn’t be a problem.
