I’m going to be honest here - I am extremely skeptical as to whether or not these pheromones work, although I sincerely hope that my doubts are unfounded. Having said that, I’ve spent a few hours reading through the threads going on in here and I feel like I can learn alot from you guys and girls in this Forum.
There’s one thing I must ask before I potentially fade into anonymity - how does everyone feel about the ethics of pheromone use? Say something works well enough to influence the behavior of another person, is it ethically sound to use these pheromones without telling the affected party? I realize that we probably haven’t hit that point yet, but what if the pheromone industry snow-balls and we start seeing more and more potent products which bestow upon the user more and more power over the affected? Is there a point where pheromone use becomes subliminal mind control?
Hope I didn’t come off as hostile - I’m honestly just curious as to what others think about this.

Regarding your question about the ethics of pheromone use, I don’t feel pheromones is any different from make up at all. Girls use make up to enhance their appearance and this is similar to how we use pheromones to enhance our overall self.

I personally don’t see the any ethical problem with using phero’s. Mainly because they only help you, not provide instant gratification.

To answer your question, I don’t think it’s any less ethical than cosmetics, sales/dating techniques. Pheromones can in no way coerce someone to act against their will, they can only enhance or amplify what is already present.
If social pheromones are used, the person(s) targeted will open up to you but they won’t perform out of character. An easy example: if you’re selling strawberries and you’re using a sure-fire combo that gets people talk to you and usually leads to sales, you might get a lengthy conversation with a customer who is allergic to them but the person won’t buy strawberries all the same.
If you hadn’t been using pheromones, they’d have perhaps not stopped by for a chat but their usual behaviour of “avoid strawberries, they’re dangerous for me” won’t have changed.
Pheromones only enhance what is already there in your persona, ethically just like a new cut or new clothes it’s apart of your new image that it personifies morals and ethics are up to the individual’s personal makeup and mind and lifestyle to choose whether pheromones are appropriate or not.
