Well I went with a girl last night, and I have got to say, it wasn’t too shabby. ![]()
given all your angst about it earlier, that was sort of anti-climactic.
Well let me explain. See I did go through about five girls and I contemptated on not going. However, one girl from church did agree to go with me. I was super nervous, especially during dinner. I did talk, but deep down I thought I was literally going to die lol. Well I got into the doors with the pheromones loaded up and the girl beside me. People started noticing and everyone was pretty friendly during the night. Then it came time to dance, and I was once again super nervous. But then, in about five seconds I became the master of rhythm and dance. So much that I started to smile and just went with the flow. People were shouting my name as she was grinding me, and everyone was just having a good time. I even invented a dance move, called the motorcycle haha ![]()
Well thanks moonwhisperer for your advice. I think it even would of been good if I did go by myself because there were plenty of girls without dates. Definitely a confidence booster after that night ![]()
Way to go! See? You really are someone that people notice (in a positive way!)
Now that was better.
It sounds like you had a really good time.
I think it is a mental block that you have, being afraid that others won’t like you. It’s pretty obvious to me that once you give them an inch, they do seem to like you pretty well. It takes mental work, but you can overcome it.
Glad you had a good homecoming dance.
Positivity is contagious LTD - Keep it up! Good work!
I totally agree! Sometimes it isn’t easy to keep that positive mindset but with a bit of consistant focus it gets a lot easier. I always try and look for the silver lining in the events of my life. “Gee, I’m going to learn and grow so much as a person from getting hit by that bus!” ![]()
I have a daughter with pretty low self-esteem. She thinks she’s not attractive, she thinks her curvy, slender figure is too fat, she doesn’t like her hair, her nose is too big, she feels like she doesn’t do anything right, or have any accomplishments worth noting.
Of course, none of this is true, it is just the skewed perception she has of herself as a teenager.
A few weeks ago I gave her an assignment, told her to tell people it was a school assignment if that made her more comfortable. She had to find ten people who know her well, and ask them to describe her in three words. They could not all be teenagers, lol.
She was positively shocked at what she got for results. Brave, compassionate, beautiful, smart, considerate, strong…on and on. This is the true her. Not that twisted idea she gets when she looks in the mirror.
I think the same is true for you LTD. You could try this exercise and see what you get. You will likely be very surprised.
Hmm, I’m intrigued by the social experiment. I’ll have to try it sometime. By the way, the halloween dance is coming up, and I hope to get crazier haha
