i want to know if anyone finds pheromoning a room/public place as intrusion because no one is foretold, or if it is believed to be harmless. i for one get headaches/dizzy with OD’s and would be horrified to know someone applied them in copious amts around me.
on the other hand, a part of me really wants to pheromone the heck out of some establishments, as my experience tells me it lightens some people up. churches for example ![]()
You know, I don’t see anything wrong with it. There can be many things that people do or wear around you, and they don’t notify you of it or ask for your permission to do it. Perfume alone can give some people headaches. Second-hand smoke causes all sorts of problems with people exposed to it, yet no one usually asks for permission to smoke around others in public places. I think that if you are giving someone a headache from a pheromone overdose, they will probably just tend to stay away from you, especially if they sense that you might be the origin of the ‘problem’.
There are rumors that clothing stores use pheromones and/or other influencing fragrances to influence the buying behavior of shoppers. There are a couple that I personally suspect of doing so…Abercrombie and Fitch has a light aroma of sandal wood in the air for instance. Each store has its own smell to it, unique to that particular store no matter where in the country you go.
well sandalwood still falls under the catagory of aromatherepy, and that is subtle.when a pheromone is used as to not be detectable…like would occur naturally…im all for that, woo hoo!
im talking like old lady perfume!!!
where i live, Ilsa, you are NOT allowed to smoke around anyone else, unless it is a “smoking” establishment, so that hasnt been an issue, for me anyways. as a non-smoker, i didnt find myself attracted to smokers. but old lady perfume bothers me alot more than tobacco, lol.
You are so lucky. I wish it was like that here. I am a non-smoker too, and cigarette smoke gives me migraines.
I’m sure some idiot politician will misunderstand pheromones as they become more widespread, and try to ban them. My uncle freaked out when I told him I have synthetic pheromones. He seemed to believe they were the equivalent of using knock-out drops in a woman’s drink.
we’re even lucky in the way that the establishments that do allow smoking use huge smokeeaters to try to keep the nonsmokers there, and this helps a great deal.
i have a friend who keeps saying “im over the pheromone thing… i dont take anything that alters my body”. im thinking, it doesnt get into the bloodstream, right? is there anything about pheromoning that is unhealthy or not safe around little kids? my only concern ever was that kids would be affected, but i saw no research that proved it wasnt good. and believe me, i looked.
I think the only thing that you’re supposed to avoid with pheromones is pregnant women.
Since pheromones are designed to be inhaled to be effective, I’m not sure it would make a difference if they were transdermally absorbed, although I doubt they would be unless in an oil base. Copulins isn’t a pheromone, though… it’sa series of fatty acids.
well, we’re all going to bump into pregnant women at some point. what exactly are the implications? i have preggos all around me here.
“Hey! Leggo of my Preggo!”
Now there’s an interesting advertising phrase…
Just a guess…
this isn’t medicine, or even particularly good science, it is my conjecture… pheromones are a long term part of human evolution and we’re designed to deal with them… in some circumstances where many pregnant women have gone, there will be extrordinary amounts of naturally produced pheromones in the air, like crowds at hockey games, boxing matches, or any other emotionally worked up crowd environments. It is almost certain that naturally produced pheromones ARE part of why crowds behave the way they do… or concerts where you have ecstatic, partially sexually aroused, emotionally high young audiences, take the normal range of human phero output and multiply that by a couple of thousand, or prisons too would be dripping with male territorial/dominance aggression signals…
And other places where there would be tons of pheromones, not necessarily of the human sort, but close, would be zoos and circuses, wild animal parks, things like that…
I even wonder about summer travel on the subway system at rush hour after a hectic day with everyone sweaty and worked up, exhausted, pouring it out all day long…
The one big “estrogen disaster” was diethystilbestrol:
“In the United States, an estimated 5-10 million persons were exposed to DES during 1938-1971, including women who were prescribed DES while pregnant and the female and male children born of these pregnancies. In 1971, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a Drug Bulletin advising physicians to stop prescribing DES to pregnant women because it was linked to a rare vaginal cancer in female offspring. DES was, however, never banned and was continued to be prescribed in the U.S. and other countries well beyond the 1971 date (1978 in most European countries and even as late as 1994 in some third world countries).”
DES is still in use as a human medicine to treat prosate cancer and it is used in vetinary medicine for things like incontinence in housecats. An estimate (mine) for a single human dose might be 25 milligrams… which is 2,500 micrograms, and this amount would be taken throughout pregnancy, or estimate if taken for the final trimester, 90 days, would be a load of 2,250 milligrams or 2,250,000 micrograms… and DES is a very strange molecule when you look at it, highly un-pheromone like in structure… and a monsterous quantity by pheromone standards…
In addition, you have to take air dilutions into account
For example, IF you sprayed 100 micrograms into the air, by the time it had diffused into the room it might be available in nanogram quantites by the time it was sniffed, a nanogram is one billionth of a gram, or one thousandth of a microgram… I just looked at some more literature on DES, the probable oral dose was between 1-10 milligrams (or 1,000,000 to 10,000,000,000 nanograms) and so far DES appears to be the “worst case scenario” on record... even if pheromones sprayed into your own clothing, a 25 mu application means, at most you are getting 1-2 mu into your nose, and that’s probably excessive… you might be getting around 500 nans and the rest goes to the angels… I would estimate a moderate sized room spritzed with a good 100 mu would mean somewhere in the 50-100 nan dosage airborne (actually probably much less unless you are standing right there) , which is so miniscule you couldn’t see it with a low power microscope…
lol
I’ve used mones to influence the staff at clothing stores before.
Here’s an entry from a few years back:
I’m still wearing the hybrid mix. Not a lot of response in general…got a few gals hovering nearby here and there at different stores, but nothing too exciting. Go into Anchor Blue (Old Navy rip-off, I suppose). REALLY cute, REALLY young girl…like 18 or 19. Anyway, I was looking at a few things, but couldn’t decide, so I ask if I could use the dressing room. She’s falling all over her self to “help me out” and I don’t think it’s commission. I mean, girls in stores have seemed much more friendly and helpful (in general) than before the pheros, but this was different. So I go try on this shirt, but I really can’t decide. So I waive her over and ask if she would mind giving me her opinion. Now, I’ve done this before as a ploy to initiate a convo w/ girls that I would consider dating and, hopefully get some digits, but this was not the case here…she was really young. Anyway, she says that she thinks guys in dark blue shirts look “really hot”, sort of as a general statement. Just so happens that I was going to try on a dark blue sleeveless shirt. Of course, I think she already knew this…she got glance at what I was taking into the dressing room. Coincidence? So, I’m changing and she blows into the dressing room right next to me and says “I’m going to try on some stuff, too…it’s slow…yadayadayada.” “Why should I have all the fun anyway,” I say. Giggle…giggle…giggle. “Do you need any help over there,” I asked. Can’t believe I did that…instinct I guess. MAJOR GIGGLES! So, I ask her to look at the blue shirt and tell me what she thinks. She steps out of the dressing room, takes one look at me and DIHL…she did get a dose of the pheros being in the next stall, I suppose. She breaks her gaze and is just saying over and over again, “Guys in dark blue shirts are SOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOT!” “That’s SOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOT!” I said thanks and went about my business.
Some compounds in perfumes & household chemicals are highly risky to certain groups in the population (adverse reactions), but they’re sold anyway. Compared to pheromones, these substances pose a higher threat with wider exposure, yet not much effort are done to caution/regulate the usage. On a side note, my country banned pheromones a few years ago, till they realized the low-birth count issue ![]()
As long as nothing bad comes out of pheromone use (i.e. causes leading to death, health impairment etc, in a deliberate way), it shouldn’t be a problem IMHO. Anyway, I’d be mindful of overdosing on aggressive mones & avoid hospitals, keep a bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide just in case.
Pregnant women & children? That’s a tough one. Remember there was a lengthy study where high levels of androgens exposed to pregnant ladies affected the adult sexual orientation of the fetus, but it was inconclusive.
FWIW, I did notice androstenone (AE/w) brought forward my SO’s ovulation date when she wore it once. Her ovulation was consistent for the past 2 years. I guess the more vulnerable ones are women & children. Heck, I almost didn’t survive my last -none OD ![]()

Cutler, Erox and others have been selling for years without complaint
and now pheromones are appearing in mainstream products… so there seems to be some consensus that there isn’t harm in them… and there are no reports I can find of bad result…
Tuna fish seems like a far, far greater threat to fetal health and uninformed women have been eating their tuna salad sandwiches and giving their kids a significant load of mercury… finally we are told tuna might not be a good idea…

my concerns were that children’s nervous-systems arent fully developed and they may be more sensitive (im definately not talking small naturally occuring amounts/strengths…i cant repeat that enough. im talking heavy pheromoning ) and they may suffer from mood swings or anxiety. like i said earlier, i havent found any research that has even hinted to this, but i know i have limited sources, too.
Apart from the concerns of exposing others to pheromones, what about ourselves (mone users)?

Looks like I’ve been double-hitting myself with combos of androgen & estrogen ![]()
Could prove to be fatal ![]()
